@@edc5068 One of the huge problems with the current EV's is the lithium batteries. They still did not quite figure out how to dispose of them, and we have very little lithium on the planet. Also, it takes a lot of energy to make those batteries, and unlike in the case of making hydrogen that turns into electricity, that energy is lost. For that reason, I personally always felt that, under the current circumstances, it is, indeed, common sense that fuel cells are the better alternative.
It is completely disingenuous to use the name Tesla on the Musk cars. Tesla would have completely rejected the system. His idea was taping the electromagnetic energies of the planet. That means clean, inexhaustible, and also free energy. This was why JP Morgan stoped financing his project on Long Island. The real Tesla system makes no money for investors, again, the energy is free. This was the reason why we got stuck on oil, coal and natural gas, and why now they pushing the inefficient, polluting, very expensive current EV's.

There are no hydrogen wells. Electricity is also widely available and the infrastructure is literally just wires connected to a power source that could be anything from wind to gasoline or a nuclear plant or even a hydrogen power plant(which as mentioned would be kind of stupid). The infrastructure to produce and move hydrogen is far more complex and dangerous than electricity, hydrogen is known for exploding and being hard to contain because its the smallest element. Lastly a hydrogen fuel cell DRIVES AN ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN. You guys are all praising Toyota for literally just making an electric car that uses hydrogen to power it. No infrastructure exists for 200+ million electric cars and no way wind/solar will supply that energy (not to mention destroying natural skylines to make it happen and don’t forget the sea life and birds killed by wind). Plus the outright rape of 3rd worl countries for the battery minerals (we have them in huge quantities in the US, much like oil but wait there are moratoriums in place…hmmm). Look, we’re being forced by government into electric cars. Let us decide what cars we want. If Toyota can create/make marketable, reasonably priced H2 vehicles they will win. It will release huge quantities of CO2 when they (the big oil companies) make the hydrogen from other hydrocarbons like methane. It will cost a lot more than gasoline. Compressing the hydrogen also uses energy and adds cost. It will be a continual problem to keep the highly compressed hydrogen gas from escaping and igniting in enormous explosions. Of course, you don't have to generate the hydrogen from methane. You could use electrolysis, but they don't because that is even more expensive. So if you loved the high gasoline prices in 2022, you're going to be ecstatic about hydrogen.
Don't be fooled. Hydrogen is being pushed by Big Oil because it will allow them to maintain their control over the fueling of the transportation sector. Big Oil hates BEVs because it cuts them out of the picture altogether.

Also, we need to go Nuclear in our power generation. It is the most efficient in terms of land usage and more environmentally friendly than Solar, Hydro, and Wind combined. Yes, it will produce nuclear waste, but we are currently in the process of making nuclear waste into something useful. Just last year Telsa announced that they are working on Nuclear Batteries made from Nuclear Waste and Diamonds. So in time, Nuclear waste won't be waste.
Once we build up our infrastructure first then we should switch to full EVs, but as of right now, Gas Cars are simply better for the environment as much as that sounds counterintuitive.

I was an Auto Dealer, I was never excited about electric vehicles. Hydrogen vehicles excite me. Hydrogen is not difficult to make. You can refuel a hydrogen vehicle in 2-4 minutes, unlike electric vehicles that take 30 minutes for a rapid 80 percent charge, which decreases your battery life. Hyundai has a 670hp Coupe that looks like the old Nissan 240. Very cool things will happen with Hydrogen. Since Hydrogen is made from water, they will figure out a way to charge us $5 a gallon. Hell, look at bottled water, it is already more than $5 a gallon lol. My point is, there has to be money in it for the people at the top or it will not happen… We just need to be quite for a little bit before we start making our own hydrogen.

Glad to hear this, Me personally I am not going to buy an EV until they get the batteries to where they can get 800 miles per day and have charging stations everywhere including hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and grocery stores. I have a hybrid right now and that's good enough for me. The reason I say this is that 800 miles is what I can drive in a day. I know this because I used to be a truck driver way back in the day before I started investing in rental properties. My gas burner hybrid can do this even without charging. 800 miles in a day is what I would need to escape an invasion if Russia or china decides to invade this country, so I can escape to Mexico or Canada. All you who have low mileage EV's will be stuck behind enemy lines subject to torture, rape and murder, while I will be sitting in Mexico being very glad I didn't have a low mileage EV.

I believe TOYOTA is really into something there. The latest push towards electrification based on batteries has been nothing but a lazy attempt to incorporate an already existing technology to an extended purpose. But the battery production that we currently have isn't capable to sustain all the demand of the whole world, and on top of that it offers significant challenges in terms of recycling and durability. We all have been through the situation where we had to change our cellphones because their batteries were not lasting as nearly as long as they once were. So how about imagine that same scenario happening to your recently bought EV... Now imagine more than a bilion EV batteries the size of a refrigerator door being disposed monthly "somewhere" because they no longer has any use. How about that for a good hit for the environment? So I think TOYOTA might be heading in a good direction... Anyway... Time will tell...

Well as an environmentally trained person, I must say two things. 1. Hydrogen is not an energy source. It is a form of energy storage, just like a battery. 2. Compared to batteries, hydrogen is extremely inefficient when looked at the whole chain from making the hydrogen to the wheel of the car. Thus, if one wants to make enough hydrogen in a sustainable way, that is not possible with solar or wind. That is simply unfeasible. That can only be done by nuclear fission or maybe in the future nuclear fusion. I think Toyota does not really understand this.
