It's an absolute pleasure watching you paint and listening to your pleasant voice. The laid-back commentary reminds me of listening to British commentators during Cricket matches on lazy Sunday afternoons when I was a kid :)
I don't think Tim will get into trouble cos he simplified the scene, this looks more like painting from memory rather than copying. Thanks Tim for sharing, I really learn a lot from you.
Tim, i love your paintings and i learned a lot with your videos, i'm starting (again) with watercolors and i'm using a lot of the techniques you have been showing. Cheers.
This technique is so intelligent! Thank you so much for sharing this, I've been trying to understand this one from just looking at paintings of other artists but couldn't find the scheme but u cleared it for me now. Thank you sooo much for sharing! :*
Great video! Earlier even I used to think using only the primary colours & mixing them would be enough but then found that the mixed ones turn out duller than the ready colours available in the art stores. The ready pigments appear so much brighter & fresher. So they won ultimately... at least some of them... the ready ones... :-D
I love your comments while painting as it helps me to understand why you are doing what you are doing. Now that's real learning. You mentioned you use a limited palette so I was wondering "what pigments are you using for this painting and do you always used the same pigments and why". Thanks
Oh my there are so many reds - I take it the red is transparent??? I have a permanent red but I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. What brand are you using?
Всё продумано и очень реалистично. Художник сосредоточивает наше внимание на архитектурных деталях, создаёт атмосферу творчества. Интересно, хочется погулять на этой улице.
Hi Tim, it was very nice to see your whole painting process! May I know what number is the Raphael you were using? Is it a 6 or an 8? Thanks in advance!
Hi Tim! Question for you: at 10:30 you put the cinereous blue wash down... at 11:30 you paint-in on top of the blue sky for the middle tower for the soft edge - how come the top wash doesn't bleed into the blue while it's wet? I've been using Winsor Newton Cold Pressed 300gsm and can't seem to replicate this technique - apart from my lack of skill & expereince... :o) .... would you say that the quality of the Saunders Waterford paper makes a differnce that helps acheive this, or is it more down to timing, or possibly not wetting the paper too much before the blue wash? (apologies it's turned into several questions!) Kind regards, Steve
Thanks so much Tim, really appreciate your thoughts... have been experimenting loads with wetness of the paper/timing, really cool when you get the right combo!
Discovered you on Texel Island Wadden sea, Holland. Super explained. Every detail. Check my nephew, Paul van Cleven also GIVES on line lessons. You give longer demo which IS better. Success!
Long time since this post, not sure if you will get this reply. Anyway, what I do is just pause the program, assuming it's on a pausable platform, and work directly from the screen rather than trying to get a photo. If you're viewing on a tv connected to a computer, another option is a screenshot. I have health issues that keep me from travelling, so tv and youtube are my only source for inspiration from distant places.

Hello Mr. Wilmot, I've been looking for this forever, some help with you style of painting! This is so nice, thank you. Really interested is w/c and will be contacting you! Jimi
Hi there, I love your tutorial but what about the copywrights? As far as I know, one is not allowed to use someone elses picture - or motion picture. Do you have the legal right to use this picture? I do not want you to get in trouble... Sincerely, Chatrine
Painting your own picture is under fair use. It isn't exactly the same as the original photo, + you *make* it. Even if you took a picture of the exact same thing as a nother person, that woul be considered fair use, because you took it, you "created" it. It wouldn't be under the copyright law if he for example took someone else's picture and photoshopped it and then sold it or something. :)
I am not a lawyer, so am not giving legal advice. What you are saying is not true!! Fair use strictly applies only to USA law and only applies if you are "reporting" something (if you are a news reporter), or for educational purposes. From my searches this afternoon on the issue, there is general agreement on what I have found that a screen shot from a TV show is still copyright. One would be advised to contact the owner of the copyright, and obtain permission first to use the image(s) to create a derivative work.
Emiliannmar: your views on copyright are not correct. Copyright still applies to the original image (the TV show). Technically (and thus legally), Tim does not have the right to reproduce the show on UA-cam (or t-shirts or posters or prints) unless he has approval from the copyright holder. He does not automagically gain a right to copy simply because he is painting an image. So it's really an issue of enforcement, and caring. Because Tim has copied one image from a sequence, and is using it to instruct, it's very unlikely the copyright holder would bother to take action. But, they could. Remember that this copyright also protects YOUR artistic works.
Chatrine Jansson - For those interested in copyright law in UK and USA see: www.gov.uk/copyright/overview and painting.about.com/cs/artistscopyright/f/copyrightfaq5.htm . Im a big fan of your work Tim. Thanks for the instruction and art you share :)

Watching a real artist at work is one of the best ways of learning, but not everyone is this generous! Thanks a lot
Thanks Alicia

Yes. Sometimes having a reduced number of colours can make for a fresher look.
lovely. learned a lot...beautiful result. I have a lot of practicing to do. thank you!
Thanks Sassi
Top stuff, Tim. Your patience when painting is beyond me.. hahah Extraordinary!
Thanks Tony. You gotta be patient
Great demonstration!
Thanks Momchil
Love this painting. I’m wondering if the shadow on the clock is on the wrong side. Funny how one little detail can cause one to obsess😎
Well the main problem is the bad spelling of Pizzeria !
Good day! Thank you for your answer! It is helps me in work with watercolor.
Glad it helps you
Loved it Tim,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!
Thanks Chris
I like this kind of paintings. really you are axallant artist.
Thanks Jaafar
Mind-blowing! ♥
Thank you.
Great work as ever
Thank you
I love your comments while painting as it helps me to understand why you are doing what you are doing. Now that's real learning. You mentioned you use a limited palette so I was wondering "what pigments are you using for this painting and do you always used the same pigments and why". Thanks
Thanks Debra. I now choose a bright red, cobalt blue and a bright yellow in my palette. Stick with the same and then you get used to it
Oh my there are so many reds - I take it the red is transparent??? I have a permanent red but I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. What brand are you using?
Good day! Tim , you are my favorite master in watercolor . I lake your work .

Great Tim nice painting love it
Thanks Ian
Awesome -- this just like a birth to adulthood of a "Painting"
Nicely put. Thank you
Wonderful
Thanks
Great watching you draw the scene Tim-just main shapes, and not too much detail (which I'm guilty of).
Yes just concentrate on the shapes
Hi Tim, it was very nice to see your whole painting process! May I know what number is the Raphael you were using? Is it a 6 or an 8? Thanks in advance!
It was a 6 on this one
I enjoy your videos very much. Just curious why you don't clean your palette before you start painting. Doesn't that lend itself to muddiness?
It does not seem to if you use good quality tube paint
You mentioned painting your car rear lights with rose opera, is this the same red you used for your entire painting?
Yes
Me Encanta la pintura ...

I would say the quality of the Saunders Waterford paper has got something to do with it and timing - maybe 50/50 if you see what I mean. Thanks Steve
Success!
Thank you! Will do!
Tim your work is beautiful and you can teach with the best of them. But I am a MAN first and I have to say I would choose this scene too.
Thank you
Love your stuff. Absolutely absurd amount of commercials in this though
Sorry about that Barry. I know there was a period of videos where Google did overload them
Beautiful painting! How do you make a photo from a TV program? I tried and I get a fuzzy image.
Keep trying

Why you converted a beautiful house row into a slum row?
It's shabby chic as they say. Very desirable.
@@TimWilmot sorry ! I can't get it .
Can we do this? Not copyright infringement??
Best wait a while and see if my next video was done from inside a prison somewhere
Hello Mr. Wilmot, I've been looking for this forever, some help with you style of painting! This is so nice, thank you. Really interested is w/c and will be contacting you! Jimi

Emiliannmar I am pretty sure that is not true. The copyright laws are very strict and you might end up in a lot of trouble if you do not honour it.

What happens about copyright in a situation like this, does it apply?
Painting your own picture is under fair use. It isn't exactly the same as the original photo, + you *make* it. This is not true. It does not fall under fair use if you reproduce the work on UA-cam. See other comments.
Thanks for your feedback and support
Great painting lesson - you spelt “Pizzeria” wrong! 😂
Yes. Has been pointed out before and it shows you were paying attention so thanks you
A fine demonstration except for an unfortunate spelling error. Pizzeria is spelled with an E.
Doh
PizzEria !!!!
Thank you Francesco
The unfortunate lady disappeared toot sweet.
Ha Ha.....
I love your painting but, as an Italian, I must correct what you wrote on the street sign, the correct word is PIZZERIA and you wrote PIZZARIA. 😬
Of course you are correct. How could I get one of my favourite foods wrong
10:00
great tutition so i cannot watch anymore of your videos the adverts are a joke , seems like one every 2 mins OMG
Sorry about that
You misspells pizzeria, you wrote pizzaria... but great job as always
Maybe Pizdarija?
In Portugal it's pizzaria. So we will pretend Tim painted this in Lisbon then you can relax ;)
By the way...you misspelled misspelled ;)
I am relaxed, I love watching this videos, I learn a lot. I just said one simple thing, I do not think your "loyalty" here is necessary. Cheers
Ah tahnks I musst pay mor atension to me splelling
It's dull. Just like real TV. Nothing's on.
Sorry about that
