Glazunov had a good sense of flow and contrast in this early work, along with fine orchestration and choice of source material. It's a very enjoyable opus.
Good fit. Russian music riffs off of the Middle East in general, as does Spain's tradition. The more colorful and resplendent type of classical, appeals more to me the German/Austrian workaholic school, but that's just me.

True....I rather enjoy This over his later 'Mature' works!
Composer Anatol K. Liadov also used the greek song in 4:26, in a piece called Dance of the Amazon, Op. 65.
David Rocha thanks for the info
Wow, i have never heard that work. Off to search..........Ok just listened. Nice find!
Wonderful piece! It merges Greece and Russia into one sound!
Both drew upon the middle eastern music traditions.
Глазунов как обычно , великолепен.
Però, gran bella composizione di Glazunov, ragazzo prodigio.Ottima anche la direzione di Svetlanov.
Bel caricamento con interessanti note.
Beautiful piece of a young great composer, underrated and underperformed outside Russia
