That's on both sides tbh. If you're getting dived, you gotta ask for help, AND the other players need to pay attention to the kill feed. Mercy/Kiriko (better mercy) are really good at support peel. You can go up in rank so quickly as these characters if you learn to save people from losing fights, especially your supports that get flanked.

8:00 Thank you for saying this Sty!! Its extra bad as a Moira main when everyone thinks your only function is to be a healbot despite needing to damage to even heal. The great thing about OW2, though, is that I can just point to the scoreboard and how I have the most healing done in the match and still more damage than them with half the deaths.
One thing I’ve always loved about Overwatch is that your game knowledge is usually equally as, if not more important than your aim. Even heroes like Widowmaker who are seen as really mechanically demanding still require a lot of game knowledge to play effectively. Where you stand to maximize vision, always have cover available, move to different spots frequently to avoid ganks, etc. Aim is good to have for every hero, but imo your game knowledge is more valuable to the team.
STYLOSA THANK YOU. I have been watching so so so so many of your overanalysed over the past 6 months or more for guidance. THANK YOU SO MUCH TIMES 1000 for continuing this series. It has been an exuberant help to me learning the game.
I mostly judge my supports based off of their comparative performance to the enemy. If my supports are being both out fragged and outhealed then I know something is fucked but fortunately that’s rare.
fax. Some dps players have no self awareness. Like bruh, if you walk in a straight line towards the enemy and get headshot there is no amount of healing I can do to stop you from dying especially while they have a reaper constantly flanking trying to kill me in the backline
@@myob94 be careful with crediting performance stats. 95% of the time the differencemaker is just pure and simple decisionmaking. Are you at the right place at the right time doing the right thing? Pushing in when your tank is aggressive and forcing the fight to the objective vs sitting back held in a choke with your dps for 2 minutes but getting max heal stats. There's a reason Medals in OW1 are a meme. They tell nothing, they hold no context. Your performance stats in OW2 are only good to keep a guidance at what you can improve if you're already feeling like your gameplay is decent but not great. Then it can tell you "take a bit more aggressive angles, be more engaged with supporting the main carry on your team, take more fights in general and force the enemy to react to your presence a bit more" etc. But if you're straight up underperforming, then it's your decisionmaking at fault, and raw stats don't tell you where exactly that issue lies in the team.
@@myob94 but you have to also factor in how quickly the dps are dying. If they are getting headshot constantly for peaking then the healers are naturally going to have less healing stats. It's all situational
I won 17 in a row. All good stats. Feels like smurfing. Am still bronze 5. Lots of people having same problem. Guess ill keep stomping lowbies thnx blizz
Stylosa you need to make a video about this. Its an insane amount of people from different skill brackets that end up in bronze 5. Even GM, look up otp, he was above 4100 and got bronze 5. Ive noticed in my comps recently that the skill of people are too different. I just had a game with an ashe with the aim of a Diamond and a phara that didnt use her jetpack once and tried to solo cassity and soldier from below. Something is clearly very off and we need people like stylosa to adress this so that blizzard will.
I won 21 games as support always I have a 77% win rate I always do the most healing on my team and in more than half of the matches I do the most healing in the match I always get a toon of damage too usually around the same as dps and my kd is around 3 on average I'm bronze 5
They seem like they’d have been silver or gold in OW1; BUT mercy is very hard to carry with in low ranks. So a gold mercy can easily get stuck in bronze.
Thanks for standing up for the supports ♥so often we're getting told "0 heals", and it's almost accurate considering we struggle to get to the team fight, let alone get any sort of LOS (if playing Ana) due to various obstacles and let's also not forget those antis. But then the players moaning should at least turn around once in a while and see what's going on in the backline. And can DPS please stop spamming for heals, whilst standing absolutely still - it's asking for a death sentence.
i mean, that Genji jumping around, dashin' everywhere with 5 hp and no enemy in vision... Would be better if stand still. But if that guy is in the middle of the fight, yeah i get you. (i just see the first ex. way more often)
A huge way to improve rank as support is being able to get primal on people who attack you. Many supports are better 1v1ers than dps players. It’s so fun and effective
Really appreciate the comment you made about support mains! As one myself I have been experiencing this a lot. DPS or Tanks charging off and leaving myself and the other support unprotected then complaining that they're not getting enough heals. I've come to dread having a Dva for a tank in particular, as I seem to always get the ones that don't stay with the team and instead dive the enemy when we don't have a dive comp and get themselves killed.
If I may offer some advice, a super-jumping Mercy is a predictable and vulnerable Mercy. The crouch SJ should be used tactically, but it's a bad habit to use it generally, since it leaves her so open. It's good for evasion and repositioning to higher ground. Her new directional boost is a much better general tool to reposition her behind cover.
in OW2 there's no crouch jump, your guardian charges up a jump meter, and then you can press space to jump either backwards or the direction you're lookin in, incl up
@@sheeptasticSeb True, they did change her SJ, and then added in the ability to SJ straight up by pressing the crouch button during guardian angel. Hence, crouch SJ. Both can be used currently.
Agreed. I main mercy and some enemy teams will let you just fly around all game but you're an easy target when you're up there so not always an option. The boost is so useful and I don't see many mercys using it. Especially backwards boost. You can stand 50 ft away from your tank, guardian in, start healing stream, directional boost back 50 ft, repeat process.
Every t500 Mercy I watch uses the backwards jump, moreso than they do camera flicking for directional boosts or whatever. It is incredibly useful for escaping when no team mates are behind you to fly to. They rarely just stand around on the low ground. Just because the enemy has a hitscan does not mean you cant hover in the air. You should always be playing around cover and corners.
As a gold (overwatch 1) mercy main this advice is was also useful for me, my only issue is positioning but I’d say I’m slowly getting better and this video helped 👍
To expand on the rant at 8:00 i think a big thing that will seperate decent players from great ones is the ability to really peel for their team. Tanks will pretty much have to learn with time but DPS will REALLY need to learn this skill with the lack of tank you could basically dedicate to doing it in OW1
one think that annoys me is when supports arent prematurely healing. if they arent shooting enemies, just keep healing even if ur teammates are full hp. it helps against burst. few support players from what ive seen actually look ahead to see whats about to happen, and who should be needing heals within the next 1-3 seconds. if ur playing moira and dont need ur ball atm, just chuck a healing ball even if ppl are full. some goes for zen, just get the healing out there. to many times i die because it takes to long for the supports to realize whats going on or is about to happen
@@Cryoptic_ no idea which rank you play, but i would never throw a moira heal if its not needed. its way too powerful to just throw it out ^^. and if you have nothing to heal, dmg boost as mercy until your dps is at 80% hp, then start healing. because bodyshoots cant kill your target at that HP, only HS. but HS will kill it whit 100% HP too.
@@Bastyyyyyy u should do this on moira if ur not gonna use the dmg ball and wont need the healing ball within a couple seconds. same goes for ana and her shots. point is, dont just run around, sit, wait, basically do nothing. suddenly someone takes dmg. u shouldnt wait until they are low and then think, oh i gotta start healing. not the best to use quickplay as an example, but thats the only place u can play kiriko. there is no reason to not keep spamming heal on full hp targets if ur not doing something else. havent placed in ranked yet, but ow1 master player if u were curious.
@@Harmonic14 not sure if u know how it works. if ur not gonna use the ball either way, ur u plan on leaving to heal a flanker, just throw down a healing orb. it does literally nothing on cd, just use it. unless ur gonna need it more within the next few seconds. same goes for the normal heal, it gives a regen over some time. even if ppl are full hp, tapping heal on them every now and then makes sure they regen back to full if they take some poke dmg...
Thank you Sty for speaking up on behalf of support mains. I have seen tanks and DPS yolo so hard that even with my nope out of jail free card as Kiriko I can't save them. Also I don't feel so bad now for being silver and ending up in Bronze 5. And on this video I came for the mercy gameplay but learned valuable tips on not how to play a DPS. 😁
People who do that aren't even worth saving. They'll either learn the hard way that it's a bad idea, or they'll continue to get wrecked and give up on the game.
Thank you for using my code and all your tips! I submitted it just for fun not expecting for you to review it at all. I'm kinda scared to going aggro mostly because my aim is just not good - I used it as a last resort on that Genji because there was nobody to fly to, so might as well and to super jump up too much because I might get killed, but I'll be sure to work on that more. Also I'm kinda ''heal bot'' because I just enjoy my team having full HP and healing in general, but I am trying to learn to pocket and dmg boost more and yeah that Pharah as the start kinda hurts me too, should've at least tried to pocket her. In short, I play way too passive and safe and I should focus on tanks way more. And to stop looking at the ground! Edit: Won another 7 games, still Bronze 5 lmao Edit 2: Climbing up, Bronze 1 now! Helped a ton, thank you!
The biggest thing you can do for your aim is to have your crosshairs pointed at the height of other players (both teammates and enemies) most of the time. The biggest thing I notice is that your crosshairs are almost always pointed at the ground, even when you're healing teammates(!). At the very least point your crosshairs at your teammates when you're healing them. It means you have to raise your aim in addition to adjusting sideways to target anyone new instead of just adjusting sideways.
I can always review a game and provide more detail than this one: If you want. You have some issues that are actually easily fixable for a massive improvement. Your healing was pretty good and you not staying in the air every second, like Stylosa seems to keep wanting you to do, was actually a great decision. One easy to mention change for a huge improvement in your gameplay: Hitting GA again mid flight to stop moving towards the target. It seems obvious, but if we apply this for most of our movement instead of walking as much, we actually start using GA to even move just 5-7 feet instead of walking nearly as much. The purpose of this is to get that beam attached and get to a teammate that is either peaking a corner or being aggressive so that we can heal him before or as he takes damage, but maintain the needed distance to not get hit. You maintain distance fairly well in the video. Take 29:31 for example. We see the Dva use her boosters to go in and she is now out of our healing beam range. The second we notice a teammate get aggressive like this, we should GA to a teammate and cancel it after moving only a couple of feet. This will get us in range within less than a second and allow us to get a healing beam on our teammate , but not have us enter into a space where we would get shot. Your spacing here was really good as well to avoid the JQ ult. That is just an example of what you could have done better there. Even if you did that, I'm pretty sure the JQ ult was going to wipe your team anyway, unless Dva turned around and used her matrix on JQ.
If I'd have been in that game I would have endorsed you, you did good. All I want out of my healers is decent heals and situational awareness. Having awareness of the enemy _and_ your own team is key. Look at the incoming damage and determine who needs healing the most. Tanks can take more punishment than a DPS, but if a healer completely ignores us (which happens more often than you would think) we're gonna get shredded. When I play healer, I try to keep everyone topped off but my general rule of thumb is to start pumping tanks full of heals if they lose around 1/3 of their health (same goes for other healers, since they make your job easier). You can be a little more relaxed with Hog since he can heal himself, but try to keep an eye on when he's last used Take a Breather. If it's on cooldown he'll need help. As for the aiming thing...well, I'm not the best at it either (which is why I play tank and healer). But try to keep your crosshair at head level, that way even if you're just spamming shots you'll probably hit something. Lucio would be good practice for that, since you just passively heal and can spam out shots. Moira would also be a great option too if you don't feel like aiming, and she's super fun. Just don't be like those Moiras who try to DPS everything and constantly throw out damage orbs. The damage orbs _can_ be great if you throw them in an enclosed space, or as a way to pick off a fleeing target, but healing orbs should be the priority. And mastering her fade is important too. Nothing is more hilarious than baiting a Junkrat into using his riptire on you, then fading out right before he explodes it to make him waste the thing.
@@Breggo1 I'd like to get more reviews of course! But I kinda don't have many good games, either we are stomping the enemy or the opposite, that's probably because the rank lowering to everyone. I can send you a good game when I'll get some if you'd like! And thank you, I was also a little confused about the super jump because I may not be able to hold flight position steadily and get shot by Hanzo or literally anybody who can land a shot, but I took it as Sty knowing more than me so he'd be prolly right, glad to see the opposite view tho. And thank you as well for the GA cancel reminder! I kinda knew that but I keep forgetting about it a lot, I will try my best to practice it and actually get some value from it!

I'm interested to see where everyone goes once ranks start to sort themselves. DAMAGE BOOST. DAMAGE BOOST.
@@beanchers8501 I could see that being true. A lot of the matches I've been in are kind of wild, it feels like literally every rank is mixed into bronze right now.
So happy to see overanalyzed back! I love how much joy you have for the game and players of all levels. If anything your love for the game and encouragement for us plebes has kept me trying :)
I went from Silver 5-4 to Silver 3 and then Gold 3, working on my next set of placements but I expect I'll rank up some more, maybe Plat 5 or something. I was Low Plat in OW1 and my tank did much better than before, overall I actually like that it deranks you, I'd hate to get stumped 20 times cuz it places me around or higher than my rank.

@@DragoonBB Yeah. Sadly it's most supports that suffer from bad tanks. I main Brigitte so I have it alright. Same with Lucio and Moira. But other supports have it so bad right now. I've barely played any Ana in OW2 because it's not fun.
Favorite thing about Overwatch 2 support is the death counter for the team. When my dps get mad at me for not healing them, but they have 12 deaths and I have 2... from junkrat tires. Good times lol
I personally feel that Mercy would benefit from the Kiriko treatment - let her fire her pistol on right-click and her beam on left-click. I'm sure we can come up with some other way to swap between heal and damage boost.
THANK YOU Stylosa for slapping those "goddamn no-brain DPS" in the face.. I'm a support main myself and i been scolded at already so many times "where is my healing" "useless healers" usually by players that run in 1v5, like a genji that thinks they are so good they are going to "solo" it or a braindead reinhardt that doesn't wait to group up and just runs ahead and yolo charges into the enemy team expecting you to save his ass, and badmouthing you if you fail to do so. supports so often get blamed for supid shit that the dps/tank does. So again THANK YOU for pointing this out.
I did 7 placements flawless and was placed silver 3. Won 7 games with 5 or 6 losses and was placed silver 3. Lost one, then went on a 7 win streak and got placed silver 3... I think the system has some flaws
It’s so nice to see stylosa get to make positive fun content again instead of having to grind out another video about wishing there was some new content in the game.
Doing my 50 quickplay games rn, been rly enjoying playing overwatch 2, although I'm more of a casual player, tips and general game knowledge rly help, so cheers.
There's actually a bug that places all players below gold in bronze 5 no matter how good they play or how many matches they win. Not only they did NOT fix ranked (matchmaking is still broken), but they also managed to make it worse somehow 💀
Excellent Mercy play for that rank. Stay up in the air mid-fight so its easier to select beam targets (when you don't have to use corners), use the pistol every now and again, use more damage beam, & keep your deaths below 6 per 10-min and I'll look forward to seeing you in my plat/diamond games.
Support is a living nightmare in OW2. Climbing so much easier as tank and dps and those are my worst roles hands down. One person feeding can cost the whole game (unless it's JQ as she basically feeds to get value)
Your rant about support mains is straight facts. I picked up support recently with Kiriko, I feel I do really well and I enjoy playing her. However when I get absolutely melted by the enemies because no one on my team likes to cover our backs, I get talked down on and called a terrible support.
I don't mind the 5v5 thing in general, but it's a miserable experience when you're playing tank in a team full of _very_ new people. During one match on the Oasis city center, there was a Soldier and Kiriko up on one of the upper walkways. Not a single person on my team thought to go up there. They all just ran around on the ground, trying to dodge shots while the rest of the enemy team whaled on us. At one point their Soldier ulted and while I'm trying to shield from that, half my teammates are running around in the open and then the enemy Rein flanks us. I finally gave up and decided to go up there to deal with the problem myself, but of course, that meant that everyone on the ground was unprotected. Not that it mattered anyway, since my team refused to take cover. The _only_ person on my team who was trying was Mercy, and there's only so much a healer can do when all of your DPS are completely braindead. Felt like I was trying to protect a group of headless chickens, they had zero game sense and zero sense of self-preservation. I've been in quite a few games like that. Nobody groups up, nobody takes cover, nobody listens to communication lines, they all just run in thinking they're Rambo and get killed repeatedly.
ive lost all hope of getting better, it just feels like no matter the effort i myself put in, the matches are always either easy peasy win, or impossible to win
0:28 back when overwatch 2 was first announced, one of the many promises we didn't see was expansions to the old maps and alternate routes with kings rowe being the only one we have any footage of. that's what we are seeing here.

I have played so many games with toxic DPS saying I didn't heal them (when I have the highest healing on the team in some cases) or just people that flame me for dying 11 times in a comp match. It hurts to play support right now because for every 1 person that is actually nice to us, there's always 10 that are toxic a-holes. I hope more people hear this message that supports are doing their best with these changes to 5v5 and are adjusting as quickly as possible to help win games. Truly Sty, thank you.

Watching Sty get so excited over a Bronze game is genuinely wholesome
Post edit: The DPS were indeed feeding pretty bad
Haha yes. Basically all bronze dps do this
I'd love to see Overwatch eSports with bronze players lol. Maybe have a way for commentators to spectate random games, that would be great fun.
I missed OverAnalyzed so much. I used to watch it in the mornings with my coffee all the time. I'm so happy that it's finally coming back :D
I love when Junker Queen yells "It's junkin time!" And junks all over the enemy
💀
corny
Nah her “time for the reckoning” line is way better especially with the bell SFX
Painfully unfunny
if the comment is corny why are y’all still liking it up lol
Ive been rewatching some of your old overanalyzed, and im so excited to see you start making this content again! Wish you all the best.
STYLOSA THANK YOU. I have been watching so so so so many of your overanalysed over the past 6 months or more for guidance. THANK YOU SO MUCH TIMES 1000 for continuing this series. It has been an exuberant help to me learning the game.
As a support main, at 8:21 ive never felt so heard lol
big same LOL
It's all situational
i got placed in bronze 5 too and managed to get almost to plat in 1 day ...the ranking system is a bit weird tbh
you gain a lot if you deserve a certain rank. I rly like the system
I manage to win 7 games in my placement and won another 7 in a row and yet my rank didn't change
Im skiping like 3-4 tiers per rank up lmao
They did that shit to me too lol
I won 17 in a row. All good stats. Feels like smurfing. Am still bronze 5. Lots of people having same problem. Guess ill keep stomping lowbies thnx blizz
Thanks for the fun new content Sty! I always enjoy a new Sty video! Thanks so much for working hard! 🎉
I won 21 games as support always I have a 77% win rate I always do the most healing on my team and in more than half of the matches I do the most healing in the match
I always get a toon of damage too usually around the same as dps and my kd is around 3 on average
I'm bronze 5
A great video with a ton of really great reminders! Also, I love Sty’s excitement for this Bronze Mercy. 😂
but shes bad though, it's a typical heal n hide 1 trick mercy
From what I've heard, placements are currently bugged to all heck. Everyone is getting bronze and I really believe this Mercy isnt normally bronze.
They seem like they’d have been silver or gold in OW1; BUT mercy is very hard to carry with in low ranks. So a gold mercy can easily get stuck in bronze.
@@Summonick2 yeah, thats a fair point
It’s so fun and effective
so happy this series is back
Really appreciate the comment you made about support mains!
New issue! Thinking you know your only issue!
@@Cryoptic_ no shot you're a master player if you recommend doing that with Moira lmao
I'm so happy to see sty back! after so many years of rehashing dead content. it's great to see this series come back!
"Sometimes you gotta have bloodlust Mercy" LOL! Glad to have Sty back making content again
"Lowest rank" is a bold statement when ranked is simply wild and unbalanced at the moment.
To all my fellow supports out there, I'm sorry, you're not alone
This kind of statement
I am 100% going to say "Ding, Ding, It's Junker Time!" every time I use Junker Queen's ultimate going forward.
Sty has his overwatch energy back. I love it!
OMG you’re doing OverAnalyzed again! Thank you so much!
Edit: Won another 7 games, still Bronze 5 lmao
Edit 2: Climbing up, Bronze 1 now!
One easy to mention change for a huge improvement in your gameplay:
Hitting GA again mid flight to stop moving towards the target.
@@sordavie Oh okay that's very helpful, I'll start to adjust it in my upcomming games! Thank you!
Literally been watching 2 year old over analyze videos of yours love the breakdown humor and just in general someone else who can see the plethora of mistakes all of us overwatch players need to hear so we can improve
I'm interested to see where everyone goes once ranks start to sort themselves. I ended up in bronze 3 & my friend ended up in bronze 5--then our friend who usually plays in high plat on his alt account (masters on his main) placed in silver, lol.
Also this Mercy pains me. DAMAGE BOOST. DAMAGE BOOST.
I got placed into bronze 5 and have won every game since climbing up to bronze 2 so far, feels like placements are scuffed right now
@@beanchers8501 I could see that being true. A lot of the matches I've been in are kind of wild, it feels like literally every rank is mixed into bronze right now.
If it's a master player playing in plat, that's just a smurf account. No need to call it an alt
@@Huqe Not going to disagree. I've been playing a lot of FFXIV, the word choice wasn't intentional.

This is definitely a gold-plat mercy. She doesnt deserve bronze 5. Thats mental
I had been a Diamond Mercy main since season 4 of OW1 and boom OW2 only played Mercy went 7-1 and placed Bronze 5 💀

I got placed in bronze 5, I only lost 1 game in placements. I was low Diamond years ago but haven’t played in awhile. Interesting placement system.
thats exactly why, if you havent played in a long time it lowers your rank a lot

Glad this series is back!
Would you want a gm tank doom game? ive seen no one else playing him in high ranks lol
It's rough being a support in low ranks. Everyone wants to stand in the open and nobody pays attention except to what's up front.
To be fair about the gengi thing, they couldnt see how much HP he had in game since they didnt damage him
Love the overanalyze videos man!! It's been awhile since I played overwatch. Awesome to see you are still doing your thing!

what I love about the mercy changes is that she can be in the air permanently. So satisfying
Really enjoyed that man. Good job. Thanks for all the content.
Doing my 50 quickplay games rn, been rly enjoying playing overwatch 2, although I'm more of a casual player, tips and general game knowledge rly help, so cheers.
1 tip - game sense or anticipation of movement is more important than aim.
Iv missed overanalyzed, sooooo happy to see you back at it again keep up the good work my favorite British man
I main support and it is so frustrating when DPS want us to heal their bad positioning -.-
Support is a living nightmare in OW2. Climbing so much easier as tank and dps and those are my worst roles hands down. One person feeding can cost the whole game (unless it's JQ as she basically feeds to get value)
I was just thinking about overanalyzed and WHAT DO I SEE, GREATNESS. BRILLIANT.
This feels so helpful putting out some facts that I didnt notice at all, definitely looking forward to the next one.
How often would you recommend people to watch their replays though?
Your rant about support mains is straight facts. I picked up support recently with Kiriko, I feel I do really well and I enjoy playing her. However when I get absolutely melted by the enemies because no one on my team likes to cover our backs, I get talked down on and called a terrible support.
That solder literally ate that arrow lol
So glad to be back and watching these again my favourite overwatch series
I'm so glad OverAnalyzed is back, thanks for sticking with OW Sty!
I did my healer placements and got put in bronze 2, I was gold/plat in overwatch 1. I'm loving playing from the bottom again, it feels so nice
I loved that part of Junker Queen's short movie where she goes like 🔔🔔 "IT'S JUNKER TIME" and swings her junk at the whole enemy team
Definitely my favorite series. I've learned a lot from overanalyzed.
Excited for overanalyzed to come back!
"How can a system that was in the game before not work?"
This sentence summarizes the entirety of OW2's launch
It's so good to see you making these again; seeing how happy and frustrated you get at all the players :)
ive lost all hope of getting better, it just feels like no matter the effort i myself put in, the matches are always either easy peasy win, or impossible to win
0:28 back when overwatch 2 was first announced, one of the many promises we didn't see was expansions to the old maps and alternate routes with kings rowe being the only one we have any footage of. that's what we are seeing here.

8:00 Thank you...... From the bottom of my heart Sty thank you.
