I love this series so much. It feels like this series gets better and better with each new episode. It was so interesting to see the four of them so happy at the end of the last episode, leading to Mahiru struggling so much in this episode. It was so sad to see Mahiru get so caught up in ego-surfing and comparing herself to others. But, it was so good to see Kano catching on to Mahiru acting differently. It shows that they are getting closer.
One of the things I find most interesting about their group of four is that it is formed with both people and those they have idolized/been inspired by. Mahiru inspired Kano. Kano inspired Mei. Mahiru respects/idolizes Kiwi. That is so interesting, so I LOVED when it came back around to Mahiru thanking Kano for giving her a chance to draw again. That was such a great scene.
Kano has idolized Mahiru, so to see Mahiru thank Kano for impacting her life… so great. I cannot wait to see the next episode.
I'm starting to wonder if Kim's terrible luck was foreshadowing HAAHAHAHAHAHAH
It was a fantastic episode, my fav so far. I'm really loving Miku Itou performance as Mahiru.
And it's just so beautiful, the sunset scenes, the aquarium.. the lights pop so well in the dark.
Legit have no idea where they are going with it now, the power of original anime!

Even though i don't consider myself an "artist", this episode made me react in pain on how relatable it is. Really good episode.

The ED music video was awesome. The lyrics are specifically for Yoru. I also like how the credits for the aquarium are the characters.

My impression was less that Yoru is letting the negative comments get to her, so much as the whole experience made Yoru aware of her own personal issues that she wants to address. Like, yeah the criticism stung, but a good portion of it was just vocalizing thoughts that Yoru had herself. The part that _really_ got to her was the "better" artist drawing fanart of her work, not because other people like their art more, but because _she herself_ feels that the other artist is better and more "deserving" of her own position. Thus, I read her conclusion as being less about "satisfying the haters" than satisfying herself; improving so that she never again finds herself in a situation where she'll be tempted to disown her own work, like the jellyfish mural.
(Also, my money's on the long-odds "JELEE polycule" ship)
Yoru's experience here **really** hits home for me.
0:22 Jellyfish is likely my favorite anime of the season, and that's big, considering how many I'm loving. And, that was BEFORE getting my yuri fix last episode! I am greatly looking forward to see these girls' wins and losses, and hopefully...Yoru can have another part of Kano to inspire her happiness moving forward.
Aquariums are a staple of yuri, just by reading 10 random yuri manga, in 7 of them you'll find an aquarium date. There are even subversions in modern manga, like the girls going but the aquarium is closed. Wanting to even build one in this episode was foreshadowing for the kiss and to show how serious they are about it. That being said, Yoru hasn't figured out her feelings yet, so they probably won't talk about it until she has more of an idea of what she really feels.
I went back to Yuri mangas I have read and last 14 had the aquarium date

I was yelling at the screen, “You’re the creator. Your genius started it.” There is always people who are better technically, but creativity and emotional connection are what move people into action. Comparing technical skills is a trap that kills the soul of art. I think by the end she got that, but I wished she would have said it.
Who started it isn't really the point, I feel. The crux of the matter is that Yoru was so insecure that she outright resented another artist expressing their love of her work, which is, y'know, not ideal for a group seeking acceptance and popularity. Not everyone can just change their mindset from being told "you're thinking about this wrong; stop that," and if focusing on technical skill is what helps those people feel better about themselves, more power to them.
i think that is gonna be the reason that she got kicked out of the idol band and it just got covered up to not expose her like that. i think she made a move on one of her bandmates

I liked this episode more because it didn't had a "drama" that was resolved by a flashback, but it's all irrelevant now. I did not expect that kiss in the end, at all!

I love it when Kohu quickly answered only Yoru would draw Jelee's art because it means Mahiru's art is Jelee's art and Jelee's art is Mahoru's art. So however good other fanarts are, they aren't Jelee's, they are just the fan-artist's version of the art they found interesting. 😘

I kept waiting for the experianced artist to say something. like how he as a pro was inspired by the original artist he wassn't trying to out shine her. she still growing i want to see what she will become. personally the content creators i watch isn't just because i like the content. yes I know fame is the name of the game. No he never said anything bad about her but he also alowed his follwers to be disrespecrfull. he was once where she is. I dont think thos advocating for him to take over as artist were being neab they just didn;t how those words would affect the original artist he should have gently chid them.
Its not only peps that want to destroy someone (thogh me me me peps do exist). Comments unlike face to face comunication often dont translate meanings very well especally when you deal with 2ed language poeples. Some writen critics or difference in point of view comes over much more harsh than when you actually talk in person.

I'm all for Yuri content (sidenote: most people slept on this, so I highly suggest "The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady")
So I hope this inclusion isn't just a studio note they had to plug in. Her feelings better be her own and apply to a story beat that's already been established (at the moment, I'm hoping it's why she had to leave the other band, confession gone wrong in one way or the other). The story beats and all the topics the show is hitting to stand out are strong; the backstory's and developement of the ensemble are compelling. The show didn't need a Yuri plot to fix an otherwise bland show or to stand out from the crowd (or conform to it). So I really hope this storyline goes somewhere meaningful within the context of the show. Otherwise I'm going to see it as the studio saying "You got a cast of all girls...can you put two of them in a relationship, it the kind of twist that will get us more viewers". If that's the case, I'll see it as the weakest aspect of the show and a waste of the shows runtime.
I don't think everything has to tie to everything. Different people have different tastes, and a show can have different elements for people to enjoy. Do you complain that fan services waste precious runtime that could have been used to develop the main plot?
@@khai96x Actually, yes, I have ranted about modern day fan-service many times.
It currently has no purpose or meaning within the context of the show 99% of the time. It's just filling in a trope. It's used to have meaning or reason if inserted (see blue gender, berserk, early seasons of Magi) it was never inserted for no reason. It had logical meaning and purpose within context of the show. Now, it's a meaningless waste of runtime for the sake of checking off a trope bingo card.
@@yevaud6 Then I think you are going to rant a lot more. The show producer has no obligation to minmax/optimize the runtime to the extreme. And even if they want to, it's impossible without doing hard math (which takes away time and resources to just produce a good show). Sometimes, leftover runtime is even used for filler episodes.
I've heard that the Jellyfish anime is completed before airing, so I don't worry about rushing at the expense of quality.
@@khai96x That's why I believe and hope it will have relevance. The show has knocked it out of the park every week, the writing has been fantastic, I'm hopeful for next week and their relationship not just being a check-off on a bingo card for the studio.
This why i disliked girls mc. Almost every new trends if girls lead role then she always lesbian or yuribait with friends,etc. Meanwhile a genuine male lead hardly shows gay vibe with his fellow male friend.
Can't enjoy girls anime if theyalway wanna put sexual tone in it i mean come on. 😂 Bocchi the rock did it super right... there's is yuribait a little but the relationship is so genuine.

I will be dropping this if there is any more yuri in this. The yuri ruins it. These are school age kids drinking alcohol. Even without the yuri there are at least 5 anime that I think are better this season.
