Just bought mine today. Read your review after purchase and now I’m happy I got them.
I used poles for the first time and bought these. First, poles are amazing, I feel like a spider. Second, these are lighter than many that are ...checks notes....almost 5 times the price. I am no expert with them but I can agree with everything you said in the video. I love when I find products like this.

Hey just wanted to say thank you for the video. Seems like this was posted quite a while ago so I guess there still good. Only thing I was ever questioning was the plastic clips for adjusting. But what can I say your video sold me. I'm going to go out and buy a pair. I can't argue with that price and seems like the quality for that price is pretty good. Thank you for the help.

Just bought the poles from Costco on sale at $20. Like them. Living in Arizona, we actually bought them for snakes sticks. Love you humor. We were cracking up.

I can't even find one pole for that price with those features.
These carbon fiber poles are the new standard. Mine have been awesome. Hold up to abuse and hold fast, no slippage. Paying $200 for others is not needed.

Andrew Skurka's approval of them sealed the deal for me. I'm a firm believer in uber gear, but sometimes, all you need is all you need and these poles are more than enough for the average recreational hiker.

carbon vs aluminum??
I bought CMT Aluminum poles last month and have used them on 1-8 hour hikes. I like them…except for the rattling noise. I can minimize the rattle by adjusting how I place them on the ground…but they still make a small noise. My wife had a pair of poles that came with her snow shoes from Costco years ago. They are twist locks…but they are silent and don’t rattle at all.
Anyone else have this rattle issue and/or know how to get rid of it? I’ve tightened the flip lock mechanisms but still hear the rattle.
I have four carbon sets including by Leki and Komperdell with various locks, both folding and telescopic, and all of them rattle to some extent. Maybe (just maybe) Cascade Mountain poles rattle a bit more, but not by much. I guess, it is in the physical nature of these poles, considering their shape and construction, to resonate if hit against another object. I just stopped fighting the issue when I made all of my trekking poles rattle as a test tonight.
Here is a quick update with a solution for CMT poles. People on Reddit suggest the following: “I took them apart, and at the end of the two lower pieces is a plastic claw looking thing that is supposed to keep them from rattling. So I tore off small pieces of cotton balls and stuffed them inside the plastic claw things. This forces the plastic pieces to stay tight against the upper pole it's inside of and eliminated the rattle.” My solution without cotton balls was gently heating the claws with a gas lighter applying the force from the center out to spread them a bit. They look like a half open tulip after heating and spreading. Put something round inside the claws to spread them while heating. It is important to not overdo the heating, otherwise you will burn and damage the claws and the pole. A heat gun should be better than a lighter. The rattle has gone now.

So the answer boils down to the algorithm. This video is unlike anything I've ever made before, and so youtube literally doesn't even notify my subs for something like this. I could make another vid about Biden and it would quickly get thousands of views. But I wanted to talk about trekking poles and UA-cam knows nobody gives a shit.

They are $23 on Amazon. Costco is more expensive for most things. They only save you on bulk items,
but buying in bulk just ensures to use it more often than you normally would.
The ones on Amazon are aluminum. The ones at Costco are carbon fiber. Amazon has the carbon fiber ones for about $44 iirc vs $30 at Costco. ✌️
@@Meteevee400 is it true that carbon fiber gets brittle in cold temps? I keep reading so many reviews of people snapping their CF poles that it's turned me off from them and I'm strictly looking for aluminum now.
How are they holding up after one year!
@@jessa.3857 I don't think so or else NASA wouldn't be making rockets out of carbon fiber to shoot into space. From what I hear, CF is stronger than aluminum
