    This gives me a whole new appreciation for guys like Brock, Lashley, and Riddle. To be able to do pro wrestling punches and then actually fight someone in real combat is just crazy. The shifting back and forth between two totally different things while making them look alike.

    I love these videos.
    This stuff is sort of like an anti-martial art. Lots of repetitive practice to get good, but instead of maximizing damage you're trying to minimize it. I'm going on 40 in less than a year and am probably a bit too old to get started (there's something to be said for being in good physical shape and free of nagging injuries) but a big part of me regrets not giving this stuff a shot when I was younger.

      @@greato80 I'm actually in really good shape, especially for someone my age -- it's not that I couldn't do it in theory. It's just that aches and pains I could just shake off when I was younger can stick around for days, and moving *just* the wrong way can put a shoulder or joint out for a week or longer. Getting older ain't no picnic, and I don't want to aggravate something that could bother me in my fifties and beyond... still, I appreciate the good wishes. :)

    I loved the old days of Kayfabe and the mystery that was wrestling but things change and I'm just glad we can now really appreciate what great illusionists so many of the great wrestlers were and how easy they could work an audience to get them to suspend disbelief. One of the worse things to happen to wrestling back in the day was in the 1980's cable wrestling and the slow motion camera shots. Looked cool watching a Bobby Eaton rocket launch off the top rope in slo mo but even the best can't hide the subtle secrets at that speed. Big mistake that old TV studio wrestling would never make. Thanks again Santino Bros.

    Been in for over 22 years and also have done a fair amount of mma and jits.
    I have noticed that it's a subjective thing, with exceptions for full blown missing, because it's a fake punch being judged by someone who (most often) doesn't know how to throw a real punch and they (the critic/coach) know you are throwing fake punches so they have the high ground and a position of power to say "getting better", "needs work", or "looks fake"
    this is more about maintaining the power relationship than solely on bad work.
    Just learn to wrestle for real, then you won't rely on punches, and you won't need to punch, most professionals do not understand martial arts drilling, kata, technique and think a fight is all brute strength and will.

    • @HkFinn83
      @HkFinn83 4 роки тому

      No it doesn’t, it’s the complete opposite. Punching through the target creates the most power. Maybe you were taught that in the context of bringing your hands back to guard

    • @Thor-Orion
      @Thor-Orion 4 роки тому

      @@HkFinn83 i misspoke. It is more force if your drive your punch through the target, but when your goal is to cause the head to snap when you connect and recoil they can’t roll with the punch which causes their brain to shake more. Obviously the main goal is to bring your punches right back to guard, but for head shots there’s also more nuance to punching than simply generating as much force as possible. But force wise your correct, punching through does cause more force but ultimately can dampen the damage.

    This is a great video, super helpful! I’ve been having trouble throwing kicks to the stomach, and my karate experience gave me some muscle memory that’s tough to override. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    That was interesting. I have always wondered how Hulk Hogan was doing that at the start of the lumberjack match against Macho man Randy Savage from 1986

    I would say contact is needed...your fist is a rock but then like a fly to a wall....because if you miss they never let you live it down

      Stay in school and continue your education through college. You can do both but you can't miss out on school for pro wrestling. Join a martial art, join a team sport, study pro wrestling matches and promos and look into a workout regimen.

    I don't know I was born to wrestle or not but If I will put my all effort into it and sacrifice myself on the line to learn it by heart then I will and I can do it. Everything is possible if ur ready to make ur mind from hell to heaven then u will know what to do in life just have to see the Clarity of impossible it's always been I'm Possible!! people always read and put the wrong decision in their mind.

    Is it ok to stomp the mat while you´re punching?

    • @SantinoBros
      @SantinoBros  4 роки тому

      It's all subjective but to me. Yes. Stomping while punching is legitimate in the realm of pro wrestling. I think its the old school (80/90s) version of today's slapping the leg.

      You're supposed too. You have to make contact, no one wants to sell a punch that does not touch you or worse misses completely.
