What are some of your favorite comics to read over and over again? 📚
Superman Up In The Sky, Mister Miracle, and The Walking Dead.
Miracleman. Gets better and better each time
@@allsome1o1 nice! Have yet to get to that one
Y: The Last Man, Watchmen, Infinite Crisis, John Byrne's Fantastic Four, Roger Stern's Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil "Born Again", Electra: Assassin.....
I’m finally reading through Byrnes Fantastic Four era, so far so good 👏
If I may ask, why do you enjoy reading that one over and over again?
This was a fun video idea! For an addition, I’d throw out almost anything by Grant Morrison, I think they especially benefit from a reread. Specifically Batman RIP. I really didn’t like it the first time then I heard about what the intent was and read it looking for that and absolutely fell in love with the story!
Well said 👏👏
I haven't reread many comic book events since I just started collecting them the last 3 years. Infinite Crisis was the only comic event that I read over and over again a long time ago.
I just love that event!
I don't always reread comics (especially since I have a hefty backlog), but Batman Year One is one that I did like more on reread.
Absolutely 🦇🦇🦇
Long Halloween is one I try to reread every October. Man Without Fear and Watchman is another one I want to revisit. Me and my gf are gonna read All Star Superman together (I’ve read the story), I wanted to see what she thinks.
These are all a blast a few of which I’ve read a few times as well! Hoping your girlfriend likes All-Star Superman that’s a wild one 👏💯📚
I’d say Final Crisis is definitely one that reads better the second time, specifically the omnibus.
I loved final crisis but still need to get that omnibus, definitely still a good deal in that I have yet to read
📚📚📚
Ed Brubaker Captain America I incredible. First long run in Marvel comics I got. So awesome. One day I hope to upgrade the whole TPB set to omni form. 5 omnis is a lot though ha ha. Maybe I start with this one.
A few suggestions for comics that support frequent rereading:
Murder Falcon, by Daniel Warren Johnson - oversized HC recommended
Bitter Root, by David F Walker, Chuck Brown, and Sanford Green - also available in HC
The Thing, by John Byrne and Ron Wilson - available in omnibus
Captain Britain Omnibus - get the new edition with the Claremont/Wilson and Black Knight stuff included.
Grimjack, but John Ostrander and Tim Truman - available in tpb
Ork Stain, by James Stokoe - there's a trade, but it's missing 2 issues.
Doom Patrol , by Keith Giffen and Matthew Clark. - not collected, digital is your best bet
Legion of Super Heroes, by Keith Giffen - 5 years later Omnibus
Godzilla, the Fifty year war, by James Stokoe - nice tpb available.
Beta Ray Bill, by Daniel Warren Johnson - should still be a trade available
Thor By Walter Simonson Omnibus
The Creeper, by Len Kaminski and Shawn Martinborough - not collected, digital or bust (or dollar bins)
Harbinger, by Jim Shooter and David Lapham - there's a trad of the first 4 issues, it's dollar bins after that.
Shadowman, by Bob Hall and Tom Palmer - there's an omnibus of the first half of this series, else not collected
Hardware, by Dwane MacDuffie and Denys Cowan - best way to get these is digital or in Milestone Compendiums
The Question, by Denny Oneil and Denys Cowan - available in 2 omnibus volumes, relatively cheap, too.
Deathlok, by Dwayne MacDuffie and Denys Cowan - no collection I know of, good hunting.
Steel, by Chistopher Priest and Denys Cowan. - not collected, digital is the best bet.
Power Man and Iron FIst, by Jim Owesly and Mark Bright - Not collected.
Micronauts, by Bill Mantlo and Michael Golden - There's an omnibus
DP7 by Mark Gruenwald and Paul Ryan - Not collected, and more's the pity.
Cerebus: High Society and Church and State v1 &2 by, Dave Sim and Gerhard - phonebook sized tpbs avaialiable.
Flash Gordon, by Alex Raymond - seriously, check these out. The art is to die for. - available in soft and hard cover editions.
Alright a handful here I’ve never read! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out 💪👏📚🎉
You explained my exact situation with Slotts Surfer 😭 gave up after a couple issues
It’s worth the ride, particularly if you’re on board for a romance plot and general fun space exploration
Watchmen is great to reread. In fact, I think it requires two readings in order to fully grasp it. You notice so much more on the reread.
💯💯💯
Ones I own I agree
💯💯💯
Anything by Grant Morrison should get 2 reads lol
This. This comment just wins. 😅👏
True
😁👍👍
I'm all about the importance of a reread.
Art in all it's forms, once set, never changes.
But we do.
Many times I read books in the wrong mood and came away disappointed.
Months later I tried again and enjoyed them.
✌️
That's another great point I hadn't considered: what mood am I in when I first encounter a project and how does that affect my enjoyment of it.
