Love this guys realism. I can relate to him in many ways. Lost my bro at 9 My dad at 15 and mum in my twenties and my 46 year old wife last year to cancer. My wife died in my arms of pulminary embolism. I did my first jail sentence at 16 and was addicted to heroin for 11 years and i lost some close friends to that. But like Johnny Tapia i want no sympathy because like him iam strong. iam still here at 48 years old and i have beat drugs. I just wished Johnny had got through his addiction. What a truly humble respectful guy and (unlike me) a world class warrior in the ring. Your story made me cry Johnny. even though i have my own pain i felt yours. deeply. R.I.P Champ. X

Johnny was n will always be the Peoples Champion. He was one crazy guy , Mi Vida Loca was putting it lightly!! He fought for the people , too bad he never fought for himself. He loved New Mexico n New Mexico loved him back. Sleep Well Loco, till we meet again.

JOHNNY TAPIA , a man that lived through hell in so many ways. But as far as being HONEST and having HEART, JOHNNY was TRULY a UNIQUE man. He gave 120% at everything in his life. He truly had a GREAT message to all, it was to tell , show people that even through the worst of times you to can become a champion in whatever you do. He gave hope to others even when it was hard for him. What we need is JOHNNY spirit back in boxing again. Thank you JOHNNY for all the you gave, May he rest in peace!

I was beat down by the hands of my Father, and had a stand offish Mom.I have the same problems on the inside like this Man.I'm a hard nut to crack. My Wife has saved my life over and over.I can't be trusted to be left alone. This is freeky, to hear this Man tell almost word for word how my life is.The worst for me also is to see a Dad love or hug his kid or to see a Mom tell a Child that She loves them or to see a Parent show effection.I had my parents without the love.I feel this Mans pain! It's a hard thing to admit it out loud, but He is trying to reach one kid out there going through it,to HELP say you can do this Life, no matter how bad it started out.

When they start sounding like that, with such eloquence, honesty and dignity and selflessness is when the devil comes for his life! He sounded like an honest christian seeking repentance! Just another speck of the infinite proof Jesus died for our sins! Testimonials like his!
