  • Castor trucks are vulnerable to getting dirty alot more than skateboard trucks, mainly because they contain 2 sets of bearings. This tutorial will show you how to clean them and restore them to their original glory...

Thanks for this video, it appears to be the only information about caster truck maintenance on the entire Internet. Hopefully you are still around to answer a couple quick questions. What kind of grease is that and is there a good alternative to it? I have the Speed Cream but you specifically chose to not use that for the ball bearing grease bed.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I'm not really castor boarding anymore and I haven't checked this channel recently. But I just caught your comment.
That grease I used for the truck ball bearing bed was some general purpose grease I used to use on bikes when working in a bike store. You don't want to use speed cream for this - you want to use something of a thicker texture that sticks. Then (if I remember correctly) I would only apply the speed cream to the bearings on the wheels, not the trucks.

ThePost001 Thanks a ton for that response. My board has been in pieces for a week now as I've been trying to get some of this figured out and this was my last issue. I'll be grabbing that general purpose grease tomorrow and putting my board back together, clean and lubricated. I can't wait to ride this board again after properly cleaning it.

Extremely helpful mate, thanks a lot.
If you are around to answer, could you tell me: could not cleaning it like this cause it to break or just not work as well?

Good question - Over time alot of dirt seeps into the bearings, wearing them down, and the grease eventually washes away or dries up. Basically you need to flush out the dirty grease, and replace it with 'fresh' new grease...i learnt this while working with bicycles, it's the same thing

Well I sure don't know but you might want to buy a waveboard because it last longest but yet it isn't the best for riding.

Not sure on the number but there should be enough in there so there's not any space for one more in there, if you know what i mean. They should all be snug together.

Did anyone how to open the castors of a waveboard yet? Mine needs desperately a clean up and the rings seems to be ruined. Are they easy to find?

Is blade board on the market yet? Where is it sold? I'm in Australia and have been waiting for the Wave to come out, but have lost patience and have ordered one over ebay. Ripstik is hogging the market here.
