I love that you repurposed the dress, and turned it from something that I’m guessing you hadn’t worn in years, to something you’ll hopefully wear more often.

When you're slim and you have faith that nothing on your lower half is wider (or AS wide) as where your hip (or hip bone) comes out, you can put a lot more faith in a lot more clothing. For example, personally? There isn't enough of a difference in my love handles, hip or thigh area to put trust in low-rise jeans without them cutting into me and giving me muffintop.
