    Great video. Mine arrived today and I installed them without issue per your video. I have a 29" inseam, so I mounted the pegs in the rear-most position, and they fit fine for me. When you do this, the lead mounting hole is exposed at the front of the steel mounting bracket. Rivco supplies two short button-head screws to screw in these holes to dress up the finished product. Will be trying these out tomorrow!

    I have to say, this kit looks so solid and well made, however I did not like how it blocks the nice looking engine head. It looks so bulky installed. That is the only reason i went with Goldstrike's set. Also, the endless adjustability and for a 6'4" it is a must. I do love Rivco's fog lights !!!!!!!!!!

    Been wanting these for awhile now and finally got them from Wingstuff. You mentioned, and they indicated in the instructions that the black powder coated baseplate was marked left and right. Mine had no such markings, and were not labeled in the packaging either. I did look closely at the pic and your video and it appears the left baseplate protrudes forward slightly more than the right one. So that’s how I mounted them.
    I’m 5’11” with 33” inseam, and the mid mount seems just right for me. Delivery was fast and your video and their instructions were very good, except for that labeling I mentioned. Thanks again for the review and recommendation. I always find it interesting that you cruise along using a bunch of metric stuff, then, out of nowhere, you need some SAE tools to finish the job. Or is it just me?

    I just installed the lower wind deflectors which extends the lower fairing out about 2 inches. It appears, from the video that your legs/knees are very close to the side of the stock fairing. Will I have to remove the lowers to accommodate for leg room. This may be a $500 investment ($300 for pegs, $200 for deflectors), if I have to remove the deflectors.

      I researched your order and our records show it was placed on May 24th. The very limited number of sets we had at Americade were previous pre orders to yours. Those were pre production sets that i personally installed to confirm that everything was correct before our all out production began. we had a slight delay with one of our vendors on the finishing of the parts over the week of the 4th. The last few days it has been "all hands on deck" including myself to get the first 150 sets shipped. Your set is at the front of the line with those and will ship today or Monday. Be advised, I installed the Rivco Highway pegs on my DCT 2021. After two rides, the bolt snapped inside the cylinders. The dealer attempted to extract them unsuccessfully, and now I am facing approximately $6k worth of damage and will need to replace both side cylinders. The design of these highway pegs is problematic. I believe the bolts snapped due to the weight or pressure of my feet on the pegs.

    The Rivco aero pegs looks good on my 2018 Gooldwing UNTIL you have to adjust because your shorter.. They do not position the same on both sides.. so if your looking for something that will look the same it will not.. I did contact the manafacture and he was hung up on the 6 cylinder.. I sent pictures that showed the left looked good, the right side set back 7/8 of an inch... looks like crap on the bracket..

    Best Highway Pegs for the 2018+ GW. One little comment : The 4 mm Allen screws which are holding the Adapter Plate in place are so soft, you even destroy them if you tighten them with the recommended Torque which is 4-6 ft-lbs. Just finger tight, not more !!

    Hey Cruiseman! I have an inseam of 33-34" and am 6'1" tall. What is your take on the stock position of the standard riding pegs and seat out of the box? Did you feel scrunched on the bike? Nice video. I was wondering what would happen during a tip over. My concern is that on my previous Wings when I dropped the bike the pegs were mounted on the crash bars and they would just slip around the bar. I just would have to re-adjust them. If these break away I wonder will you be able to just buy the part that broke away?

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  6 років тому

      If the pegs were fully extended, and depending on the way the bike tips over, they could shear off. In most cases, they would probably just fold up and out of the way. Only if there would be damage to the engine case would they shear off. Then, yes, you would have to purchase a replacement.

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  6 років тому

      I sent a message to Rivco, I will post their response when/if they respond.
      I can see my concern sparked a defensive response although I don't see the connection to the 2018 pegs. However my pegs are indexed with grub screws which would substantially reduce the likelihood of this type of event, though admittedly not impossible.
      =====================================================================================================

    So these three alloy bolts are sacrificial, what about the two that mount above? If the three on the bottom shear then all the load is leveraged to the upper two. I think I would find two more soft bolts for the upper part.
    It's a nice design but boy are the expensive @ 300 bucks...

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  6 років тому

      This would be a question better asked of the engineer(s) at RIVCO. My "guess" is that the bracket would have a small amount of flex after the 3 lower screws snapped off. In most tip-over scenarios, the pegs would simply fold up and out of the way.

    • @Bass.Player
      @Bass.Player 6 років тому +2

      I would think it is designed not to penetrate the valve cover, The ideal condition would be to completely depart the bike. but that is just an opinion, everyone has one right?
      Nice presentation...

    • @CruiseReport
      @CruiseReport 6 років тому +1

      The flip-out peg itself IS designed to shear off and "depart" the bike. However, there could be an instance where, depending on the dynamics of the tip-over, where stress could be placed on the valve covers and then those screw heads would shear off. If the pegs are retracted, they should never contact the ground.

    • @Bass.Player
      @Bass.Player 6 років тому +1

      I see

    • @richcolano1932
      @richcolano1932 6 років тому +4

      The peg and or the screws breaking away is only an likely or possible on rare occasion should the bike tip over hard at a complete stop with the peg deployed. If the bike is moving forward at any speed the peg folds back in. If the bike goes down softly as in you get caught off guard, your foot slips, you just can't hold the bike up and you let it down slowly and the peg touches down neither the peg or the screws break away.. We have used this design with the slot in the bottom of the peg as a safety on the previous generation Gold Wing for 4 years. In that time we have sold over 2,500 sets with only a handful of people ever ordering a replacement peg.
      For the 2018 model in addition to the slot we designed in the soft aluminum screws as a second safety as for 2018 since we are attaching to the valve cover bolts directly with the lower screws.
      When the bike tips to the point the peg touches the tip over bar is close to the ground. When the screws break away the peg and bracket pivot or angle up slightly until the full weight of the bike is on the tip over bar. This does not damage or bend the upper screws. Also we felt it best that the main components stay with the bike should this happen.

    I purchased the pegs and received them last week. Went to install them and noticed the same thing i am reading in the comments, right side does not sit or locate the same as the left. when i called aero, they say it is because the engine casings are not symmetrical from left to right. From what i can see, if the holes were drilled in the same location, symmetrically on the mounting bracket, then they would line up. anyone heard or noticed that the engine covers where these mount are not symmetrical? Thinking on welding up and redrilling holes or just making a new plate to put back in line. Shame i spent $350 on pegs and i get to modify or make parts just to mount them.

Honda makes one of the most sophisticated motorcycles on the planet and they don't engineer a cruise peg which a large majority of touring riders require as part of their touring needs. I am six feet tall and I have these pegs moved as far aft as possible and I must unlock my knee to reach the peg. There is no rest in this position. Additionally, the actual peg is powder coated and slick as the devil in dry or wet conditions. I must concentrate to keep my feet on the pegs. Last, many times on a trip I like to stretch out my leg and allow the peg to support my leg at the ankle. Don't try this on this peg. There is no open locking mechanism and the peg will fold under the weight of your leg. When this happens for the first time, the peg folded all the way in and my foot dropped all the way to the roadway. I don't need these issues for a cruise peg that was designed for a cool chrome look. I can understand this, but all engineers should be striving for function over form, not the other way around..

    I installed these on a new 2022 21k miles ago. Installed to spec, nothing was over tightened. I went to change my spark plugs and found that the 3 valve cover bolts are broken off in the cylinder head. Having the bracket bolted on above these hides this fact until you have to disassemble them to get to your plugs. This is a bad design and should be taken off the market. The weight of your foot on the peg adds stress to the replacement valve cover bolt, add heat and time and youve broken the bolts holding the top of your valve cover.

      Yes, I bought some second hand, in two minds about the design.

      I took the original bolts to an engineer add a 6 mm thread as the one of the suppled bolts broke but was able to remove the broken bolt. The supplied bolts are prone to fail two different metals infuse together, The broken thread you can it’s not good quality,
      The actual pegs are very well made, time will tell if it was a good idea touse the original, they are quality, just added a 5 mm rubber spacer to bring it out to the right distance.

    My new '21 came with those. I'm 6' 3" tall. I can barely reach them. Unless you're an NBA center look for something else. These won't work.
