EPIC 2-Bar Crossover Show-Off Lick | Drum Lesson

- RLK, my old Friend. In this lesson, we cover how to turn RLK Chops into EPIC Crossover Drum Fills. Not only that, but this entire fill is a 2-Bar Phrase. In Bar 2, we'll break down several different patterns so when you come to do your Crossover Chop, it doesn't just look like it's forced in and is actually musical. Obviously, in a musical situation, you may use different patterns for Bar 2 but, learning it in this way, will give you the capability to be able to do whatever you want during a track or a drum solo! That's because there's certain little keys in here like, after finishing off a bar or phrase with a Kick, start the next bar or phrase with a Floor Tom. Things like that will help you navigate round the Kit at speed. Keep your eyes open :)
And, enjoy!
Much love,
Ferg

Another great vid, man! Gonna do a deep dive into this over the coming days, but even just superficially playing it through I have to say I’m loving any lesson that asks you to play 6 straight accents on the snare! 🤘🥁🙏
Haha thank you man and for sure! At slower tempos, rimshotting the edge of the snare as you play 8th Note Triplets for example, just sounds so good. That timbale type sound. At faster tempos, it’s harder to keep them rimshotted but trying to keep them loud’ll do the trick 👊💙🥁 Good luck with it and let me know how you get on 🫡
