Thanks for the tip! I just bought a Husqvarna 128LD yesterday to upgrade from my old snot green Poulan P1500. The Poulan still runs great after owning it for 9-10 years. But on that one, you have to cut the line into two equal lengths then stick the end of each line into a tiny hole in the spool and wrap the lines opposite from each other. This Husqvarna is definitely an upgrade in all aspects. But I’ll keep the green machine around for just an “in case” backup.
Thank you for posting this and going slow over every detail. I was having trouble and after watching this got it strung and put back together in no time. Appreciate your help so much!!!!

Thank you for the video!! I have a RedMax 260TS commercial trimmer but the spool is from Husky brand, but it fits perfectly on the redmax. Okay, I’ve got it spoiled just like you showed in the video (I think!) but I can’t get my line to advance once it gets too short while cutting. Growing up we had a weed trimmer that we just knocked the head hard on the ground and it would advance more line, but my Husqvarna isn’t doing that! I have to keep turning it off and manually advance it and sometimes I even have to take the head off completely to pull more line. What am I doing wrong? I purposely got a good trimmer so I wouldn’t be dealing with this problem. Please help!
obliviousmemory Thanks for watching, let’s get this figured together. The head is designed to be able to feed more line while running. It’s important to have your trigger engaged while tapping the head on the surface. The rotation of the spool gives it the momentum to release the line & feed it outward. Keep us posted. Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together! 😎👍🔧🔩
great video michael, thank you very much. Quick question though, when wanting to feed more line when needed, say, from hitting fence wire, when I push down on the feed button and pull one end of line, the other end shortens??!! Am I doing something wrong here (very probable) thanks for your help

Did you add a larger head to this weed eater? I'm new to the brand and I noticed it came with a small head, I have the same model or at least it looks like it because it has the shaft you can detach.
loading the string is pretty easy as your video showed. however, once i start to use it i have trouble with feeding the line. the first time i bump the unit nothing happens. both lines are completely inside the unit. they seem to jamb up once i try to bump it. any idea what might cause this?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. This can happen for a few different reasons. Trimmers can get pretty stubborn when sting made from a different manufacturer is installed. We recommend installing string that’s made by the manufacturer...Husqvarna in our case. In addition, too much string can cause lack of feed. A third issue that people run into which is very common is too much grass buildup which leads to the trimmer had not fully re-seating when put back together... in other words it can be offset and not feed the string efficiently and as designed. A friendly cleaning may help. 😎👍🔧🔩
I actually do this "project" atleast once everytime I weedeat. Here's a tip, pull out 3 stretched out arms length of line. This will be about 15ft if you're an averaged sized guy. I saw a fellow try to measure his line with a tape measure once. I refused to help him!

Thank you. Need HELP. I bought a second T25 head with string and within 20 minutes of use, I went through 2 spools of of string. I'm upset and bewildered. I have the 128LD. I promise that I did not keep hitting the feed button on the bottom. Any suggestions? I paid approximately $30.00 for the T25 spool from a big box retailer and I feel sick. Please help.........anyone.... I've used several different brands over the past 20 years and each spool would last a season. Very shocked and disappointed.
Frank Tillman Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Frank, that’s odd. 🤔 The first thing that comes to mind is possible loose string. When installing your string inside the spool, you’ll want to verify that the string is installed and secured properly. Next, the security of the spool. You will want to verify that your spool is properly secured as well before using. Keep us posted. Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. What’s your update? Is it working properly yet? If you turned off the motor, can you manually push the button and pull the string? If yes, you may need to press the hand trigger a little harder which will allow the trimmer head to spin much faster to help feed line out as the button is compressed. Very important, make sure motor is off before trying it. Keep us posted, we are here to help.

I bought this Sept. 11, 2020, to replace my Echo 225-CRM. I wanted to buy another Echo, but I needed a trimmer in a hurry and this was the closest to my Echo. Out of the many complaints against this machine, I seem to be the only one who had trouble getting the spool cap off. There are two little hooks in the line holes that help to hold the cap down. I was confused by them at first, as I'd never seen them before. I wondered whether I was supposed to snap them off. No. They were there on purpose and squeezing the release buttons disengaged them. The first time I needed to replace the line, I couldn't get the cap off. It was very hard squeezing and holding down the release buttons. I gave up. The next day I took it to Lowe's where I'd bought it. I showed a lawn & garden clerk and he showed me how, but he it was even hard for him to do, that you just about had to be "a Hercules" in his words, and just a few days before, with the same model, he and another clerk struggled with one together and it took them a long time to get it off. I managed to get mine off today with the help of pliers. It doesn't clearly say what size of line to use on the box or manual. My Echo used .105. I tried it on this but the place-holding notches on the spool were too small for that, so I had to use .95 But I couldn't get even that to stay in the notches. I've give up for now. When I first bought it, I naively thought it could be thread like my Echo, by just pushing line through the holes, evening up and twisting, no need to hassle with taking the cap off. Apparently not, unless I'm missing something. The cutting head shield is about twice the size of the Echo's and gets in the way when trimming tight spaces. I plan to take mine off, but then there's the possible problem of line not being cut to length when I use the bump knob. So far, very much a disappointment and a hassle.
Jethro Bodine Thanks for watching & sharing your experience. That doesn’t sound friendly or fun. We have had great luck with ours. Just used it a few days ago. Maybe lowes will let you return it for a full refund. 😎👍🔧🔩
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Thanks. I was able to return the Husqvarna without any problems, and I was also able to find an ECho 225-srm at Home Depot, so everything's good. I have a small lawn service so hassling with tricky spool winding and caps is a big deal. I've been spoiled by Echo's easy-feed method. It could've been just me and not a problem for most people. I just thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth.

Thank you for the video!! I have a RedMax 260TS commercial trimmer but the spool is from Husky brand, but it fits perfectly on the redmax. My trimmer lines kept over lengthening by like a foot on each side today on a clients lawn and I couldn’t figure out why. After 6 tries of having to re-spool, I gave up. Seen your video later that day at home and did the same process demonstrated here on the video, step by step and it got on there spot on. Works like a champ now.
Excellent explanation! Made this simple operation even simpler. Thanks

Please help!
obliviousmemory
Thanks for watching, let’s get this figured together. The head is designed to be able to feed more line while running.
It’s important to have your trigger engaged while tapping the head on the surface. The rotation of the spool gives it the momentum to release the line & feed it outward.
Keep us posted. Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together!

great video michael, thank you very much.

Frank Tillman
Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Frank, that’s odd. 🤔
The first thing that comes to mind is possible loose string. When installing your string inside the spool, you’ll want to verify that the string is installed and secured properly.
Next, the security of the spool. You will want to verify that your spool is properly secured as well before using.

I am afraid I have restring it incorrectly bc the string isn’t pulling out when I push the blue bottom. Is it supposed to?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. What’s your update? Is it working properly yet?
If you turned off the motor, can you manually push the button and pull the string? If yes, you may need to press the hand trigger a little harder which will allow the trimmer head to spin much faster to help feed line out as the button is compressed.
Very important, make sure motor is off before trying it. Keep us posted, we are here to help.
Great video...thank you! Super job!

Jethro Bodine
Thanks for watching & sharing your experience.
