Beautiful car. In California we look for a 1975 or older so there is no smog check. Also like that you kept the original radio. Pure class. You can cut a piece of black computer mouse pad material to fit in the console so objects do not slide around. 80,000 miles on these engines is just broken in. Many of them last to 500,000 miles and beyond.
Wonderful. I have a 500 SEC (euro grey market imported) that I was driving around 4000 miles per year, but it’s been out of commission since I was rear-ended back in May of this year (2022). The frame wasn’t damaged, nor were the body panels, but I had some damage to the rear drive train and it’s been horrible sourcing the correct parts. I am praying the car gets back to me by Christmas so I can start driving it again. I really want to semi-daily it because the car has never left me stranded. The main reason I can’t have it as my only car is gas mileage. Premium fuel is now stupid expensive.
Just inherited one of these, big W210 fan boy and I'm more than tickled to get my 450SL running, really appreciate the video man. Got me excited to work on mine 👍👍
Drive it gently you might get 15 miles per gallon. 3-speed automatic not the most efficient period don't know if the differential gears can be changed to address this. Later cars had four-speed automatic.
I own a 1973 450sl living in San Antonio, and it's hard to find a reputable shop to service my car. I just moved into the area. That makes it difficult. If you have any suggestions for the San Antonio area please share. Thanks Love your car!!!
I have the opportunity to buy a restored one that is basically mint condition but it has a blown head.. he wants $4k.. Is it a hard repair? thank you I appreciate any advice
Any oil leaks or other fluids on yours I’m looking at a 1978 and the owner told me it has a couple of small leaks and was told by his mechanic that the is normal.
@@dominiquetran1479 Get the Becker radio rebuilt by Becker! That’s what I did and they added an auxiliary input. You can do that or add a Bluetooth. But I ended up removing it because the sound quality still wasn’t that good. I now have an aftermarket unit and the sound is greatly improved. there are units out there with a classic look so they don’t stick out like a sore thumb.
0to60 not that impressive 10 seconds. 60 to 100mph acceleration is quite impressive. Long legged grearing makes high speed cruising at 100 mph easy. Tops out about 120
Just keep in mind those European bumpers offer zero protection from a hit. The US bumpers can save your car in a hit of say 20 or 30 mph. my 500 SEC was rear-ended in May and the USA bumper is the only reason it wasn’t obliterated.

Saw one of these in a drive thru today, light blue, and it was in great condition. Now I kinda want one.
Man that looks so fresh. So smooth.

Great that you're using it propper
I just bought mine, it's a 1976. I'm in spring tx, where are the good cars and coffee meets with Mercedes enthusiasts?
Hello! Thank you for the great review!
May I ask how economical this car is? With regards to fuel consumption?
does he actually talk about daily driving the car for 20 mins without talking about fuel con. You saved me 20 mins thx
@@Altanox Anybody who is concerned about fuel consumption, cannot afford a Mercedes V8.

FYI you can get the hard top and you won't need to remove the convertible top, heavy as hell tho haha
Hi, I like your video on the 450sl, just wanted to ask how is the gas mileage?, some say 12 to 16 mpg, is that real? Please let me know,,,thanks,,,

Can I ask where the replacement top was purchased? Currently looking for a very good replacement. Thanks! -Tara
Looks like this car has not been in the sun as dash pad is nice so is delicate silver paint , Nice example !
Beautiful car….I still prefer a new stereo system. Kept the old head though.
Im looking at a 75 today.
Anything I should look out for?
I have the opportunity to buy a restored one that is basically mint condition but it has a blown head.. he wants $4k.. Is it a hard repair? thank you I appreciate any advice
That’s a great deal if it’s truly mint condition
You can also put headunit in glovebox
Any oil leaks or other fluids on yours I’m looking at a 1978 and the owner told me it has a couple of small leaks and was told by his mechanic that the is normal.

So now I’m 2022 can I modify the bumpers
You can find European bumpers. Just don’t sell the originals. Those are expensive.

Love that black wood
You look like Oscar Isaac ❤
Slc has back seat
So jealous man!
This is not a car for daily driving
True. It’s currently parked inside my office as a display car.
@@hamzainvests Why?
Disagree. I drive my 380SL daily in the summers.
I think the car is a “ waste of money “. The “ Chevrolet of Beverly Hills..
