Great thanks a lot....I've so far wasted about 6 mtrs trying to make a cover for a one sitter...but after watching this,I don't think I'll waste anymore material. Thanks.God bless u
So glad I found this! You cover the details so well and now I can try and get that comfortable but ratty old sofa recovered! For those of us on a budget, this is so very helpful.
Hey there Tracey, well that’s a great compliment coming from you, being a teacher. THANK YOU! I very much appreciate it. Thank you for watching and leaving a positive comment. Please share it helps us when you do. All the best, Paul
Hi Thyrza, Very glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching. Please share the videos on other platforms and with others it helps us when you do. All the best, Paul
First time tackling slip covers. Because I'm a visual person, UA-cam has been my training institute. Watching your video, I know I have found a good instructor. Thank you.
Hello Suzanne, yeah tuxedos are a lot easier no doubt but once you get used to the role or scrolled arms it’s not that bad it’s just as easy. Thanks for watching I hope you got something out of it. Cheers, Paul
The hand fabric stapler ( Wawak sells it ) is great for stapling the pattern together. While pattern is together draw on any hash marks or whatever to match pieces up good-labels like A B C on adjoining pieces, then take pattern apart. It is good to label the pieces as in outside back, inside arm, etc. Write on piece on many cuts or if something is cut on the fold, note that and where the fold line is on the pattern piece. If you want to center a motif, mark the pattern as it is easier to determine while looking at the sofa ( for example, on this sofa style, if you centered a motif on the bottom cushion, it would be wrong because the back cushion covers part of the seat cushion. I have added these comments to help someone who is totally new at this. Very good video. Thanks for the chalk line tip.
This video will make me one happy happy girl! I have wanted white slip covered living room furniture for at least 10 years but not something we could ever make happen on a soldiers pay but Ive been getting up the nerve to get'er done myself. You do amazing work, just gorgeou! Thank you
I just loved every minute of this tutorial. Very meticulous w/ thorough explanations & helpful tips. Keep on coming w/ the awesome work. I have a older model classic car & I've been pricing upholstery quotes, but I love DIY projects, though this one is a new ball ga
Wow thanks for your comment. I really love old classic cars and trucks. I used a 1954 panel truck in the beginning for years to do pick up the furniture. I miss that truck, all the best on your project.
loving this my cousin is wanting me to make a custom slip cover for her leather sectional ottoman and a recliner . Now I have a better idea of what I need to do . Much Appreciation for your video!!!!
Thanks for your comment, in fact I am going to film part 2 of the sleep sofa slipcover tonight. Thanks again for watching. Glad the videos are helpful.
I am working on my sofa bed slipcover and I am so glad that I watched your videos. I watched them over 10 times. I finally got the velcro on both the sides, back and seat bottom. It was a real challenge, but after watching how you sewed the Velcro onto both sides I am happy to report that I did it! Now I will go to the back, as I attached the front skirt (I do not have pleats, my sofa is more modern with straight arms) I stitched the inside arms after sewing the velcro on both sides. I was planning to make velcro straps to secure around the bed rails, but this is so much better. Please continue to have informative videos. I have a desk chair that has a great lumbar support. Will you show us how to re-uphoslster an office chair using leather? If not, I am just so happy to get this part of my sofa bed slip cover made. Thank you so very much.
+Bobbi Hi, Thanks for watching our videos, we're glad that they helped you out so much! I believe we gave you advise on the problem of your slipcover fabric shrinking, I hope it helped you out as well. We really appreciate hearing the progress of our viewers in their projects and to hear that we were able to help them in their project, like yourself, it really makes the videos all worth it. Also we'll keep in mind the office chair video. Thanks! All the Best, Grant
Elizabeth Rodriguez It's not as hard as it may seem. Take your time and use the marks on the pattern as a visual to go on. Thanks for telling us. All the best. Paul
Excellent instruction Paul. Have felt intimidated to try covering my sleep sofa. Ready to take on the challenge after watching your terrific directions & tips. Thank you for making this videos available! p.s. Thanks to Nicole & Grant as well. :)
This video was awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post it! Your instructions are really clear and easy to follow! Any idea of when you might post part 2? I'm excited to finish my first sofa bed slipcover! Thanks again!
+PixieTrailSprite It was a blast getting your comment. Thank you very much!! Hearing that has made our month. We want as many people as possible to know how to do slip covers. It's a great skill, plus they keep furniture around longer. Bonus the furniture stays out of the landfills longer, we are glad for that. Happy the video worked . Thanks for taking timeout to let us know. All the best Paul
ucsolutions You are very welcome, but the pleasure is all mine. The reason I decided to make slipcovers is because we had a brand new sofa-bed that was pristine--not the first blemish on it. We were moved to another state by so-called "professionals". It arrived dirty and torn in spots--in fact, it looked like they dragged it across an asphalt highway. My choice was to get rid of the sofa, have it reupholstered or to slip-cover it. My husband's work causes us to relocate periodically, so I decided to go the slipcover route because we might be moved by another group of "professionals" who would do the same; a slipcover can be removed before a move and replaced after relocation. With your instructions, we also have a secondary benefit of changing slipcovers seasonally because I'll already have a pattern to work from. This is thrilling! I've already purchased muslin for the pattern, and eager to get the show on the road but we are looking at machines that can do more heavy duty sewing than my current home model. Again, can't thank you enough.
I think having a pattern is a good idea because you can change your decoration and just reuse the pattern. Have a nice one for company and a durable one for kids
Hello Maria, Thanks for watching our video. Yes your spot on, the pattern is perfect for that. A one time cutting, with some inexpensive fabrics you can make as many as you want, with less work. Again thank you for your comment. Please consider sharing the videos it helps us out when you do. Cheers, Paul
Opal Kamma We are sure that you can. Thank you for taking timeout to watch and to comment. Send us any question you have, perhaps we can help. All the best. Paul

Hi Aborah, Extremely glad we could help, and you are welcome. Hey please pass on the videos to others when you can it goes along way for us. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Paul
OMGosh, I m so using your methods! I had looked online before for a good video and you are by far the best! Thank you for your time and efforts! I do have a question: can I use this method without a skirt? Thank you.
Nivva1 Yes you can! Great question. What you need to do is bring the fabric down to the bottom of the furniture. Mark the pattern fabric along the bottom. Then when you are cutting your slipcover fabric add 4" past the mark. This will give the cover 2" for hemming and 2" finished fabric that will be longer than the furniture. Really glad the videos have helped and thanks for taking out the time for the comment and question. Please let us know how it works out. All the best Paul
I LOVE this video...the most helpful on UA-cam for sure! I was wondering if you might do a video on how to sew a slipcover for a chair with English rolled arms (the low and curved fronts) ??
We really appreciate you watching our videos! Great question, the simplest way to cover attached back cushions is to actually remove them. We go into details on how to do this in these three videos Removing Attached Back Cushions Quickly ua-cam.com/play/PLjirBhmyVm3dRAm9QMzzmRpBjF-hxJ9D-.html I hope this helps! All the best, Grant
Hiiii man l watch your video today it was very amazing video so send so many video like this and useful for as nice job today l am going to try ......Bye
I just made my first slipcover using your method and was very surprised as to how easy and quick it was. Right off I want to thank you very much for making all 4 video's on this subject. You made them very easy to follow. My question now is when making a slipcover for a regular couch how to sew the inside back to the decking along with the inside arm to the decking leaving enough fabric for tucking in without bunching. Thanking you in advance for any advice.
Steve E We use the same amount of "tuck in allowance" for either a regular sofa or a sleeper sofa. The real change on the sleeper sofa is we added the Velcro to the "tuck in". In the video where we are cutting the fabric using the pattern we go over the technique for "tuck in allowance (3 inches)" Much thanks
Thanks for watching, we are working on the next step of the slipcover process for the sofa bed video. Soon we will have it. If you have any questions until then let me know, I will do my best. Thanks again.
Hey there Irish mist, thank you for the compliment 🤔 I think lol. For sure though I am glad you watched and left a comment. Please watch other videos and subscribe if you haven’t already. Cheers, Paul
Hello Alease, thanks for watching. That’s a great question not easy to explain in a text. You can roll over it railroad the fabric. Or you can individually cover the back cushions all though they are still attached. That’s what I mean I can’t explain it in a text. Or you try this what we show in this video. Remove them and cover them as a lose back cushion. Remove those Attached Back Cushions Quickly - Slipcover Project Part 1. This is the video title on our channel it will not paste for reason but you can find it on our channel. I hope this helps you and again thank you for watching. Please share. Cheers, Paul
I’d like to make a slipcover on a couch that already has piping on the edges of the arms (straight armed couch). How can I get the slipcover to hide the piping? Could I make a slipcover with piping that would look nice on top?
Hello Tmcdgreen, Thank you very much for watching, we did answer your question in a video. ua-cam.com/video/RWrs7ygydio/v-deo.html Hope this is helpful, please share the videos with friends and family it goes a long way for Grant and me. All the best, Paul
What suggestions do you have when you want to make a slipcover, but the sofa is leather and you don't want to put pin holes in it? Thanks for your help. Ginny
Hello there Ginny, first I want to thank you for watching the video and for leaving the comment. To your question which is a good one, the best way I’ve found is to use painters tape. It will hold the fabric in place and will not leave a residue. I hope this has helped you if you haven’t already please check out our latest video and subscribe😊. All the best, Paul. ua-cam.com/video/jwRBw37JbWk/v-deo.html
@@ucsolutionsgivingmore yeap I am trying to sell, and pls check my channel you will know how machine work. Our machine is cnc cutting machine, but not like laser machine, have bad smell and burning edge. We machine are specialized in cutting leather/pu/rubber/paper/foam/sponge soft material.
Hey Nada, I might be interested I need more information. Where can I see the machine?Where is the link to your channel? Let me know I will look at it. Thanks, Paul
Sorry for the delay, if you would like to send photos and communicate in real-time you can contact us on our live chat on our website at ucprivatecourses.com.
I couldn't quite tell... can you leave the main cover on the sofa when you have it folded out? Basically I have a very crappy sofa bed (although the bed itself is comfy), and want to disguise it for when a friend stays...
A really great tutorial !!! Thanks! - Since I'm not too fond of skirts on sofas how could I do the lower edge? I've got a very cute old cocktail sofa and would like to make a slip cover for it.How can I make it fit tightly so that it keeps its nice shape?
tinynorthcat So glad you liked the video. Just today I made a pattern for a cover that will not have a skirt in Arlington VA. It's simple, just follow the curves of your sofa to the bottom of the sofa. Continue the pattern (fabric) to the floor, next mark (with chalk) where the sofa stops all along the bottom. Use that line that runs around the sofa as the mark to add 3" to your finished fabric (slipcover fabric). Hem the 3" fabric up two 3/4" folds leaving 1 1/2" finished. It sounds more complicated then it really is. I hope this helps you and thanks a lot for watching. Paul
Thank you for this. Been looking for years. One small thing confused me. You kept saying salvage the salvage. It's salvage the selvedge. Save the original edge of the fabric. 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
You leave me speechless Betty😁😁. Yeah I have received a fair amount attention on those words, your definitely not the first. You’re right! Side point I have never heard one person say my name correctly. Carter they without fail say it with a D as if I am a CARD dealer. I just ignore it and move on. AWESOME! You found what you’ve been looking for, gained a skill and saved money, I am very happy to hear that. I am very happy to have helped you Betty. Thank you for watching. All the best, CarTer. 😂.
Hope you won't be offended by a suggestion. I use safety pins! Try it sometime and see how you like it. They hold better and are waaay less painful. ;)
Hi Linda, Sorry for the late reply we have been crazy busy here. The pin holder I put together, it's a rectangular magnet glued to a tape measure so I can use it for two purposes. Thank you very much for watching and the comment. Please share the videos it helps a lot when you do. All the best, Paul
I bought a king size 4pc bed sheet to give my old sofa a makeover. Hope all that material will be enough. My only concern is about stitching the cushion covers, would it be ok if I cover one long cloth over all the 3 cushions and staple them tight or should I stitch one long cushion cover and slide the 3 cushions in? I would appreciate your suggestion.
Hi Lorette,Thanks for watching our videos! We thought it would be best for us to answer your question via our Save my Assets videos series: ua-cam.com/video/ajH7I6cB3Ek/v-deo.html We hope we were able to answer your question well! All the Best, Paul and Grant Also we wanted to apologize for the delay in response, we're catching up with all the questions we have gotten! Thank you for your patience!
Melisa Haggai Hi Melisa, Yes the pin holder, I simply put a magnet (1"x 2" rectangle) on a tape measure with some strong glue. It's great because the tape measure already has a clip on it. Funny others have asked about that as well. Really glad you watched the video and giving a comment. If you like check out our newest video titled remove food stains. Let us know what you think. Cheers, Paul
+cdgibson100 Hi, Thanks for watching! The best way to anchor the pattern without using pins would be tape. However, whatever tape you use, don't leave it on the leather for to long or the adhesive will ruin the leather. Painters tape or a low adhesive tape would be best. Thanks again, and I hope this helps! Best Regards, Grant
hani mmj Yes I have run into this issue before. I would not but pins in the leather if you can avoid it. It would be near impossible to avoid permanent holes in the leather. I have used masking tape before to hold the pattern fabric in place. To get your center mark (half the furniture point) so you can know where to lay the pattern fabric. Put some tape on the furniture in the middle then a pencil the center mark on the tape. Two thoughts. One, this only anchors the middle, so you will need to move slowly on the rest of the cover ( not shifting the cover). Two I tell my clients all slipcovers over leather are prone shift more than fabric covers do. Thanks for the comment and for viewing. Cheers,Paul
+Sasha Bascombe Hi Sasha, There's no difference with a regular sofa the concept is the same, it'll work. Thank you for checking the video out. Cheers,, Paul
Hello, THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION. Thank you for the comment, if that is your situation, go over the seat cushions. Or you can include each cushion WITH THE TUCK IN as you go. It can be a little complicated when including the tuck in. I hope this has helped you in someway. Thank you again, Please share it helps when you do. Cheers, Paul.
Thank you. I will. Thanks again for the tutorial. This tutorial will help ease my mind. I have light tan furniture...and many guests that like to place feet on it. This way, my furniture wont scare away my guests.

So far these videos for making a slipcover for a sofa bed couch have been very informative. I might be ready to tackle the project. However, I haven't come across the video on the actual sewing of the slipcover. Any thoughts? Maybe it hasn't been posted yet.
Yes you are right the video is not posted, it is in the making. So very soon the sewing part will available for you to view. Thank you for sending your comment and for viewing. All the best. Paul
Hi Tineke, Yes!! That is what we call double cutting you must fold the fabric in half. Everything is the same, but you will have the fabric folded in the center of the furniture on itself, four layers in total. SO! The white we use here in the video, the top that you see in the video would be the WRONG side facing you. We are in the process working on videos to show "double cutting". Hope this has helps, please don't forget to share. God bless, Paul
I cannot find directions for my one armed camel back settee. Any recommendations? I'm about to take the fabric off and use it as a pattern. I don't know what I was thinking getting a leopard print.... (holding head in shame). 😣

This is a wonderful tutorial! I can't find the rest of the videos that complete this project. Are they uploaded yet? Thank you!
Thanks for watching, we are working on the next step of the slipcover process for the sofa bed video. Soon we will have it. If you have any questions until then let me know, I will do my best. Thanks again.

Is there any video showing the finish of this project? Thanks
What if your back pillows are attached but look separated?
Hello Tmcdgreen,
Thank you very much for watching, we did answer your question in a video. ua-cam.com/video/RWrs7ygydio/v-deo.html Hope this is helpful, please share the videos with friends and family it goes a long way for Grant and me.

They hold better and are waaay less painful. ;)

I am trying to see what is on your hip where your pins are. what is that?

Glad you like it, thanks for watching.
What do you call your "pin cushion" on your belt? Is it made special for re-upholstery? Great video BTW!
How do I make a pattern for a leather couch won't pins put holes in it.
+cdgibson100
Hi,
Thanks for watching! The best way to anchor the pattern without using pins would be tape. However, whatever tape you use, don't leave it on the leather for to long or the adhesive will ruin the leather. Painters tape or a low adhesive tape would be best. Thanks again, and I hope this helps!
Best Regards,
Grant
how would you pin it if it was a leather couch instead ? more likely pins make a little holes !
thank you
hani mmj Yes I have run into this issue before. Cheers,Paul
thank you very much

What about when the couches are all sewn on?
Hello,
THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

Paul
This video was from three years ago..waiting for the cutting and sewing of this pattern
Can I substitute the white for the fabric to be used as a slip cover? My dear grandchild who is autistic found a seam and just went RIP! Ouch!
Hi Tineke,
Yes!!
Sviđaju mi se presvlake .Koja je cijena za ugaonu sećiju od 5 m.
I cannot find directions for my one armed camel back settee. Any recommendations? I'm about to take the fabric off and use it as a pattern. I don't know what I was thinking getting a leopard print.... (holding head in shame). 😣
