- In this cake decorating tutorial I show you how I made this fondant marbled cake using extra fondant saved from a previous cake! You can store fondant for months if you wrap it up good in an airtight container and leave it in the fridge. You can do this technique in so many ways with so many different color combinations! Thanks so much for sharing this technique! It is such a contrast… Ultra neat detail of frosting, sharp edges, and then to move to messy, not over worked, not “over neatened” fondant! Different sides of the brain there!!

This was lovely and to be honest the most detailed version I have seen of this technique. I was wondering, did you place the cake back in the refrigerator after applying the fondant wrap? How did you get the fondant to stay up?
Thank you!! Yes. The fridge is my best friend;) I use a residential fridge because they seem to have less humidity then commercial. At least the ones I have used for work purposes. My boss even got one for work!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have a question: how do u tell your customs re the cake decor? Do they see some samples? Or they just tell re colors and style?
Typically they have an inspiration photo that we start with. And then add out own touches and make it personal for them. Sometimes I am given the green light to just do my thing with maybe a few requests like colors or theme. That almost stresses me out more though;)
@@sophisticakesbymary thank you for your response. But do they send you inspiration photos of your cakes or any cakes from internet? I struggle with it , clients send me sometimes photos of cakes from internet and expect it to be exactly like from photos. I want to add my touches which I think would look better but I understand it’s not what they expect. Also, because of this I don’t know how to promote the designs I like? It limits me in trying my new techniques as well.

I like to use the plastic scrapers or metal ones. They can all be found on Amazon;)

Just simply beautiful!! Can you share your chocolate buttercream recipe? Mine is darker as I use melted chocolate. Should love a lighter version.
Thank you!! I actually use melted chocolate also, but I tend to go with milk chocolate so it is lighter. I just prefer to eat the milk;) This is just a crusting American. Let me find the link for you;)

Quick question…do you use unsweetened coco powder or just melted chocolate??
Just the melted chocolate. If I am doing a black buttercream, sometimes I will add some black cocoa to reduce the amount of food coloring. But other then that, just the melted chocolate. I guess that is not totally true. Sometimes I will add chocolate ganache if I have some on hand.

Love watching your creations but I have a question that you may think is silly, but honestly, stumps me....how on Earth does one cut and serve a piece of cake that is over 12 inches high? I am absolutely clueless🤷🏼♀️.
Perhaps a video instructing the viewer on how to slice and serve such tall and uniquely shaped cakes would be helpful? I personally, would find it both extremely useful and crucial. Thank so much!😊
That is something I may be able to do;) but for now, a cake that tall would need to have internal support and you could cut down to those boards and basically cut half at a time. Does that make sense?
