Actress Amy Irving (at the time, director Steven Spielberg's wife) provided the vocals on this song. She was already pretty well known on Broadway, and had sang in a movie prior to this one called "Honeysuckle Rose" with Willie Nelson and Dyan Cannon (Dyan also did her own vocals in the movie).
I love the subversion of Jessica. When we get mention of her thats she's married to Roger Rabbit, you expect to see a weird zany rabbit lady. But instead you get this. A smooth, curvy fox of a woman. But now you start to worry if she has affairs with men by the way she acts and dresses. But we learn later that she genuinely loves Roger because she is a simple woman who just wants to have a spouse who can make her laugh and be herself.
“Cigars? Cigarettes? Eddie valiant!” “Betty?” “Long time no see” “What are you doing here?” Works been kinda slow since cartoons went to color, but i still got it Eddie! Boop boop be doop boop!” “Yea, you still got it”
To toons, humor is the ultimate form of sex appeal. Jessica may be physically beautiful, but she’s not funny; therefore, in the toon world, she truly did “marry up”.
This song was all fun, groove and sexy, when I was young. 20 years of harsh "modern world" jobs conditions/salaries, and the look in my wife's eyes when I can't pay us the travel we always promised ourselves (year after year after year) make this song resonate a whole lot different now. This song's dreadful, it's freaking dreadful.
You had plenty money 1922 you let other women make a fool of you. Why don't you do right, like some other men do? Get out of here get me some money too. You sittin down wondering what its all about if you anit got no money they put you out. Why don't you do right like some other men do? Get out of here, get me some money too. Now if you had prepared 20 years ago you wouldn't be wandering now from door to door. Why don't ya do right like some other men do? Get out of here get me some money too (2x) Why don't you do right like some other men do.
I can absolutely recommend the cover made by a singer by the name Sarah Gibson. It's like her voice was made for it, and the band and 1930's bar setup really catches the vibe of the song. My personal favorite of the covers, I have heard.
GOD DAMN JESSICA RABBITS VOICE ACTOR'S LUNGS ARE POWERFUL, THE "Do" AT THE END

I always loved Peggy Lee so when I first watch Roger Rabbit as a kid and Jessica came out singing this sultry version of her song . I was in 😍🥰💘
Lullaby Jazz. It's just pleasant. Like a mother singing to her child.
When I was a little kid, I thought it was “ get out of heel “ 😂 lol but I love this movie
Lol same here
😂😂😂😂😂
Still like this movie
The voice 🥰🤤
The lyrics 😢💔
Chilling vibe indeed.

My favorite movie
This is a classic song and movie. "Get outta hereee, give me some money too" 😂😂😂
Why do I feel that Alison Goldfrapp could nail a cover of this song? She has the same sensual voice!
yes pls
I loved this movie ❤❤❤
Put it on 2x speed, and it's pretty poppin'. Towards the end it distorts the voice a bit, but the first part's fun.
She is married to Roger Rabbit.
BettyBoop: “Yeah, what a lucky girl.”
“Cigars? Cigarettes? Eddie valiant!”
“Betty?”
“Long time no see”
“What are you doing here?”
Works been kinda slow since cartoons went to color, but i still got it Eddie! Boop boop be doop boop!”
“Yea, you still got it”
What a lucky gal

Not that I'm a Peggy Lee fan, but I've listened to several versions of this today, like hers the best.

She sang this live, back in 2015, during the Endless Summer Tour. It was awesome.
I just found out Penelope in the new season of Bridgerton look was based off Jessica Rabbit
