- This song is called "Majestia" it's such a beautiful piece composed by James Swearingen, has a WONDERFUL flute solo in the beginning! Don't wanna miss i ;)...no pictures just listen. I hope you all enjoy :) Great piece :)
this piece makes me really emotional because a week before the concert we performed this, one of my closest friends whom is also in band's father passed away. my director left the seat open for him and dedicated this song to his father, every time i hear it it reduces me to tears. he was in the audience and the way my mom described him and his brother's reaction to this piece broke my heart. it just goes to show how much music can impact someone.
Why would you care about someone else's dad?
Tucker Grimes have you ever seen someone close to you lose someone they love? even if i wasn’t personally close to his father, i saw how much he hurt and was there through it all.
Gay
So you said he died a week before the concert but when you played this he was there with his brother and your mom said he loved it?
@@cube6500 it’s not you dumbass
1st clarinet
*my longest yeah boy ever*
randomly picked out of a hat and i'm second clarinet :(
same, but 3rd...even worse all the repetition
I'm 3rd clarinet so it's easy but boring :(
1st man!!
Been first for most of middle school, then get to high school and there like nope. 2nd for u
Played this in high school, but our trumpets couldn't handle the solo so it was transposed to a French horn solo and played by me. Forever in love with this song! 😍
You guys must have had a shitty band even here in Hawaii our freshman trumpet players can handle this solo and even harder ones
I played this in middle school over 30yrs ago. Has stuck with me all these years. Beautiful piece and timeless classic. 1st Trombone!!!!
I'm playing it now
Wow crazy I'm playing this soon and I'm on 3rd trombone
I’m playing this in 2 days I’m second trombone
I'm playing this and I'm on 3rd clarinet
Playing this in a few months also first trombone
I still get goose bumps every time I hear this and think of HS band days when band director would make us play anything from James Swearingen!!! Such beautiful times and music!!!
The First 8 seconds are golden
epic flute
I played this song when I was in 7th grade. So many good memories playing the trumpet solo
Love this song!! Remember loving all James Swearingen's songs in Jr High and High School band. I LOVE that he never neglected the low brass section! :)
Just wish he would have written something where the low brass was main feature. Would have been AWESOME.
Played this back in 1988 as part of our 8th grade band repertoire. Loved it then, love it now. This and 'The Planets - Jupiter' by Holst were my favorites.
I played this song in band in 7th grade. Got the trumpet solo at 0:58...was possibly the best band experience so far :)
ahh. this brings back so many memories. we played this in high school. I had the flute solo. I always loved this song.
Swearingen writes beautiful trombone parts
I know your comment is 3 years old but I still have to agree

@@wafflenovas i know your comment is 3 years old but i also still have to agree
i absolutely loooove this song especially at the slower tempo. i play the flute & i'm a senior this year. my band is playing this for our winter cncrt & every time we play through this i think about all the obstacles and everything i have been through for the last 4 yrs; all the great and not so great things and the times of happiness and sad. this song just touches my heart like no other and it is a great piece to finish my very last cncrt (i graduate early) as a high school student
I enjoy following along with my flute for this. I love how flute and trumpet play big parts in this piece. Truly beautiful and majestic. Definitely fits the name
Currently learning this! Definitely the best concert song we have done so far in high school!
PLAYING THIS IN BAND! FAVORITE PIECE EVER
Another very nice Swearingen-piece...I am a conductor, and my orchestra just loves to play this.

I was in 8th grade when i played this with the high school band. It is a phenomenel piece!!

Reminds me of my high school days playin' flute. Beautiful song.
I got to play this in the school band in 10th grade. Conducted by my favorite band teacher. That was our last concert with him before he left for another school. I miss him so much
We played this song at four of our concerts, and I played bass clarinet, first clarinet, first alto saxophone, and baritone saxophone. It was a TON of fun! And its just a beautiful piece.
omfg we just got the music for this idk how this band makes it sound so good
I played this in the beginning of my 8th grade year, I absolutely love this song plus I got flute solos. We decided that the soft parts would be played as a solo, and I got them all! =D
この曲コンクールで吹くので頑張ります💪
This and "In All Its Glory" are his best pieces. Brings back such fond memories of my former students who worked on this piece with me.
We sightread this yesterday, and everyone fell in love with it instantly!
I've been looking for this song for years and somehow the title just came to me. We played this in our middle school orchestra 30 years ago. WOW!!! I still love this beautiful song…and, yes, that flute solo is amazing.
Trombone melody is badass. I remember playing this years ago in middle school... 1st bone, 1st chair. Ohhhhh what a privilege. This song and Novena for wind ensemble... Those were the days.
We're thinking about playing this and Exaltation for our spring concert this year. I love Swearingen's music!
Don't get yourself down because you're 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th chair! All parts to the music are as equally important as the first chair, remember that.
7 year Trumpet player, 5 years on the Mellophone, and 3 on the Tenor Saxophone.
Absolutely
Im at the end of 18 other alto saxes
Bee, thank you this song is amazing
SAXES ARE THE BEST!!!!! I am a Bari. Sax player, and this song was added to our folders the other day. It is AWESOME!

Our band gotten this piece today! It's awesome!
This always used to remind of star trek when i played it back in junior high in 87. still does.
I loved this song! I played it my freshman year in hs.
Played this piece for the first time in class in preparation for a joint concert between a junior high and high school band. I got so excited because 0:57 reminded me so much of Star Trek :DD
I love this song!!!! :-)
i love this song!~~
This song and When Angels Weep ( D. Shaffer) were the songs that I really connected to emotionally in band.
I sitll remember how great this song was to play almost 7 years after the fact. Both beautiful songs. If you have the honor to play these songs atm in band please cherish the times you get to play them with your bandmates. As corny as it sounds this song brings back so many good memories.
i love band because all the music that we play just gives me chillss and makes me tear cuz of the sound nd how everything just fits together so perfectly...

I'm covering for both first and second :3
Nice I play second my band teacher told me I'll be playing the song next year
First chair clarinet boyz
Though I enjoy the melody that woodwinds and trumpets play, I enjoy the lower brass melody parts more in songs. They have a really deep feeling that I can never get over.
Loved the trumpet solo, it's so clear and just beautiful! However you spell it ha ha
We're doing this for my HS band, and it's a wonderful piece.(:
I love this song. Played it my freshman year in High school. me and my bud got the turmpet duet. =P love it.
Great piece.
my band is playing this this year. the baritone solo is my personal favorite
AMAZING
Omg...we played this All City Band when I was in Middle School!
I thought this sounded very familiar, then I broke out an old CD when I played in a Knights of Columbus honors band and this was on it. Great tune and really back memories of my musician days (which are now long gone). Thanks for the memories.
Hi 11 years passed
im playing this TONIGHT at my spring concert! :3
this piece calls a vision of majestic!
We are playing this for my instrumental class. :)
Trumpets sound awesome in this piece, and the Clarinets are brilliant. :D
this song is so beautiful=)
My concert band has to play this
i am in 7th grade currently and am learning to play this with our band. it sounds so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i remember playing this song in middle school................ahhhhh the good ol days!!!!
I LOVE Exaltation
favorite piece of all time.
At our last high school football game (My sister told me this because I'm too young), the band takes forever to get on the bus because the start with the marching song that year and work back until there's only seniors playing. They don't play the whole peice but, the first comment reminded me of that so I thought I would sshare a cool tradition.
i just started playing this in band the other day...i like this song so far. i play 2nd trumpet
In the 7th grade I played this as the only euphonium. That translated one of the parts from a section part to an unglorified solo. Needless to say, I was terrified but loved it.
what a trumpet~~
