DIY half-timber work at the MOT: choosing the right timber

The MOT in Grimbergen is a technical museum with a long history of safeguarding the craftsmanship of half-timbered building. We work closely with a true craftsmen, whose work we were able to film step by step.
In this video series we show a traditional way of building and erecting half-timbered buildings, using only muscle power and hand tools. The techniques and tools used are not linked to one specific region or historical period, there are Japanese influences and we are experimenting with the construction of a modern, circular half-timbered workshop.
