- We are building a monolithic slab foundation for an 8000 sq ft wedding venue with plumbing for 6 toilets, 4 vanity sinks, and a catering sink for washing hands and food prep. We talk about 5 of the best practices for getting a solid concrete foundation and water tight plumbing.

Your videos are really interesting and informative. A must watch for any owner builder etc. You do an excellent job explaining the processes involved in constructing the different aspects of a building. I have learnt a great deal from watching your videos. A big thank you. Most appreciated.
Thank you!!!
Did you put joints in the concrete slab around your post footers? If not, are you seeing any cracking around the posts?
W Weiler we have 3’x3’ thickened footers under the posts, so our strategy was to avoid those with the control joints in between posts since the thickened footers are the strongest/thickest part. No cracking has occurred around the posts.
good job
Just think thanks mate 🍻
thanks for the tips - wondering - what 3d modelling software is that - sketch up? do you fill the pipe sleeve 100% with caulking? would foam work the same? thanks
do you know a good all purpose lumber yard for basic framing and trusses (probably separate for the trusses. i just need simple 2x4 ones 26' span) and doors and windows. i want to use anderson composite series 100 in Hickory or a reasonable distance from it?
Just think not sure about a good lumberyard in hickory. But a good one should be able to get you Trusses, windows and doors. I would search Andersen window dealers in hickory and see what you come up with.
@@HeirloomBuilders ok big guy
What software do you use? Any building construction software you'd recommend? Thanks
We use sketchup for most of our design work. We also use solid works for shop drawings, but that’s more expensive and difficult to learn for the non-design professional
So no plumbing inspection necessary on a farm in NC? Is that only for unincorporated rural areas?
mashoutman that’s correct. On a bonafide farm, for a farm building, not a house though
@@HeirloomBuilders Oh...I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I am new to your channel but I can see that you put out very useful content. Keep it up.
not enough fill to bed pipe properly-don't let cement guy tell you he will fill around pipes-that's how they get broke and screwed up. Plumbers always double check square and size before ever digging. and if your not digging proper ditches , thats your first mistake -no fill. is the pipe sitting on undisturbed soil? I do like the supply line insulation and protection... well done but make sure it has air pressure holding before you pour.4 with have a 6 then for sleeve. 15min min. rural areas and farm isnt an excuse but ty for trying to make sure its gonna work right. ty right fill then let it burp and then do your caps.
Is there any other option for plumbing other than the under slab method ?
While still building a slab foundation?
@@HeirloomBuilders Actually I'd go for pier and beam to avoid plumbing heavy repair costs but i was wondering if there's a way to put the drain system on the slab .
What state are you in?
Harold Douglas we’re in North Carolina
Why does the guy in the CAD program always have his hands in his pockets? Tell him to get to work.
Yeah, and no matter what, he’s always just giving you a blank stare.
Lose the music…
Blm music has to go
It'll be better if you just go!
