Hi Brad, thanks again for your Saturday morning weekly Vlog! As always it sweetens the coffee and inspires next weeks work in the yard. Love to see those Sandhill cranes, a rarity in our part of the country. We understand the hard work and tiresome effort it takes to do your bee work and bring us your experiences on video. So a special shout out of appreciation to you and your wife. Keep up the great work, be safe and healthy! 👍😊🐝
Until a better explanation is provided, you can see me making up what I call "Zombee nucs" in this video. They are just failed or failing or old colonies that still have laying queens. They are just no good for anything else. ua-cam.com/video/s1nlLxv__Z4/v-deo.htmlsi=n_TkYhCiEOP_zZon
Hi Hope. It's been a while since I made it. I think it was equal parts (by weight) of unsalted butter, honey and icing sugar. Optionally add cinnamon to taste.
Ok Brad…you may be able to reteach me the metric system that was once taught to me in school, but it’s a lost cause to try to convert me to celsius! Love the feed rig!
Hi Brad, I made the same system for mixing syrup as you did and used your recipe - I added 800 kg of sugar to 440 liters of water. I got exactly 250 gallons of syrup, which is about 950 liters. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you said that by mixing in this proportion you get 1000 liters of syrup. Not a big deal, but I’m just wondering why I got less
Yes, a real 2:1 ratio would be more like 440 litres to 880 kg of sugar but I find it hard to dissolve that much sugar into the water so I use 440 litres to 800 kg. The total amount is not exact. Because I have to put the water in first, I need to be sure I don't put too much in. I can always add water but I can't take it out once the sugar is in. If I'm mixing in a pail, I can add the sugar first then add water to get the volume I want. In short, "1000 litres" is an estimate, you didn't come up short. I did add more water to fill the tote this time. ua-cam.com/video/R1x7pJhAwiE/v-deo.htmlsi=GbeNXeoQ10qh70q4&t=2224
I use RFOIL brand because it's what my local hardware store carries. It seems to be fairly strong, I haven't had many failures. www.homehardware.ca/en/24-x-25-roll-reflective-foil-double-bubble-foil-insulation/p/2648674

Thanks, Bob! I appreciate the kind words and encouragement. I'm so glad you enjoy my ramblings. Thanks for watching!
“It is what it is”
So much of what beekeeping is.
🚀🚀
So true. Thanks for watching!
Brad, my bees started to get ornery last week also. My flow is over and they aren't happy. Have a good week.
They get that way. I've gotten away lucky so far!
I learn so much as you talk through what you’re seeing and doing and why. You refer often to zombies. What are zombies?
I had the same question from someone else. I'll try to explain it in the next vlog. Be sure to watch. Thanks for the encouraging words.

@@ThatBeeMan will do! Thank you
Thanks as always Brad! On the Charlie's stream you mentioned honey butter. What's you favorite recipe? The ones on line are not consistent.

@ThatBeeMan Thanks Brad.

Baby steps, Todd. Baby steps.

Hi Brad, just wondered about your leaking problem, have you tried plumbers tape on all the fittings? Thks for the vid.
Yes. All threaded fittings have it. It leaks at the barb fittings. Maybe I need more or better hose clamps. Thanks for watching!
@@ThatBeeMan ya I thought it may be a dumb question but just in case. Take care sir.
@@Ziggysbees Not a dumb question at all. I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't know that trick.
How u get that bee Tobe right on time at the end buzzing I think she was telling us off lol
I was thinking that was pretty good timing on her part. I wish I could take the credit. Thanks for watching!
Are you getting a flow from alfalfa and if so how significant can it be? Other side of the river from you and north of 84 n.
There has been a light flow, it seems to have just ended now. It must have been alfalfa and or sweet clover. Thanks for watching!
Curious what brand foamie you use, ive tried a couple different brands and they tear so dang easily
