We have terrible humidity here ,(Jacksonville, FL) I've got a lot of audio work to do toy 3rd gen tl (2006 base model,) possibly the best thing about Florida is custom interior shops are like Cvs's or Starbucks. My 06 TL has only its tweeters and passenger 6.5 speaker that's drilled in the door panel. Driver side hole is empty for whatever reason. No rear deck speakers or 8in sub. Couldn't put an 8in sub in the rear deck even if I wanted too because the previous owner mangled the metal under the rear deck. But I don't have the navigation model so the stereo you have is exactly the one I want (along with actual door speakers, not the cut outs in the door panel,) real r Tweeters, and 6.5 rear deck speakers. The new amp that will be taking to stock amps place will come f4om Mobile Car max along with other various wiring. But the speakers themselves will come from a place much cheaper.. love your channel and when I make my tl channel I'll ensure to throw you and everyone else in the TL community a link because without you guys I wouldn't have fallen deeper in love with my acura. My unit is almost completely wired up but I just realized that I seem to be missing the cable to video output that connects next to the USB connectors. Does anyone know what connector that is? The camera doesnt work when I wire up to the cable labled "video in"
HI I Recently did this install on my 2008 Acura TL type S, & I am having a few issue's, door locks on driver side don't work turn signals dont work my healighs and Day tine running light come on at the same( but doesn't show on dash) smh. please lmk if u have any advice or help I've gone over a lot.... might I add the previous owner had a cold start alarm installed . Hey, I"m guessing this install is unrelated to those issues. Especially the headlight and DRL thing. Are you sure the previous owner didn't modify the headlights? That's a common mod and sometimes you have to mess with the wiring
@@Al-cg1nshow did you fix it? I had the same issue but my engine harness eventually caught on fire because the lights were on. My dash harness also melted a bit from one of the connectors from the screen
I did this it blew 2 of my fuses immediately the light fuses I swapped them and blew again right away so went back to oem and the camera quality of oem is way better.

I installed this and it works great with 2 issues. When on a phone call the person I call does not hear well. Sound if faint and echoing. Any suggestions? Also can not seem to change temp from C to F and the outside temp is static at 85. Thanks for any insight and help

The lack of carplay on this unit is holding me off, as phone integration would be really nice, but idk how useable the navtool will be without the touch screen.
It’s not a comparison. It’s like day and night. The Navtool unit is easier to install but that’s about it. I don’t really like Navtool as a company though. Terrible customer support. But this new screen has way more functionality and higher resolution. You couldn’t pay me enough money to got back to my Navtool unit
How did this headunit work with your stock amp? I have ordered an upgraded amp from Mobilemax. I'm worried that this head unit would give me problems considering the mobile max amp has all sorts of wires that can either bypass the amp together or allow wires long enough to reach each door speaker,(two up front, 2x tweeters, 2x rear deck speakers and the single 8in amp sub. I wasn't able to see how many RCA'S cane with the head unit?
It works fine with the stock amp. The center front speaker just becomes a blend of the right and left instead having its own channel. That’s about it. Power wise it’s good
Yes, a couple ways. I tapped into the OEM sub signal and used a hi lo converter to get RCA that I ran to my amp. Alternatively, there is an audio-out RCA at the back of the radio you can use.
@@nathanrheault9417 Yes and no. The OEM radio unit had a stock sub between the rear speakers. The OEM radio did not have red and white RCA plug for an external amp. This unit has RCA outs

On the top it fits into 2 existing threaded tabs and a nut screws down and then in the front there is a screw in either side close to where the old volume knobs used to be I think. Yes you will reuse those 2 screws. It’s not held in by much :)

This radio removal is hands down the biggest pain in the ass ever, gotta strip the whole freaking interior to remove the gawd damn thing. My 02 was like this, and my 05 is identicle. 🤦♂️ Not excited to do this again.
For the noise filter I cut the yellow and the black cables at the beginning of the black power cable and put the filter in between like you showed and now my screen won’t turn on. Did I do it wrong? Do I need a whole new cable now
@@Alex.UA6 yea when I was connecting the wires, I was in the car and I accidentally touched the positive and negative wires so it blew my radio fuse, that’s why the screen wouldn’t turn on. After I got a new fuse it worked, but I don’t even have this radio in my car anymore, I switched to a normal double din kenwood stereo, I like it better. I’d like to sell the Tesla one but idk anyone to buy it.
@@rivieres2401 OK that’s good to know. I just wanted to see if it was a different set of wires you were supposed to connect it to. I do miss my double din set up. Definitely was better sound quality, but I love the look of the screen. It makes the car just look so much more modern
@@Alex.UA6 yea, one of the main things that bothered me with the screen was the climate controls, I feel like they’re kinda buddy, at least mine was, and personally that bothered me to much. Also after I did all that with the noise filter instal, it didn’t even make the little static sound go away.
It uses the existing mounting locations in the car. No needs to buy anything else. I believe it’s 2 screws at the top and 2 on the sides. It’s not held in by much compared the OEM unit but still solid
Yep! Still works perfect! My only thing is I’m convinced the auto setting for the heating and cooling doesn’t work well and I actually have to select where I want the air to blow (front vs feet) for it to work well. Could be unrelated though.
Hey when you install the noise filter do you actually cut the black and yellow wire in half and connect the noise filter in between them or do I just tap into the wires without actually cutting the wires in half and attach the noise onto them. Please answer if you can.
If you bought the unit at the time the video was published or after, I wouldn’t recommend the noise filter. I ended up not using it and there is no noise. To answer your question, you do need to cut the wires and connect the noise filter between them. More technically speaking, it needs to run in series and not parallel.

Yea, it works in the 06 TL. Same screen but different connectors so make sure to pick the 04-06 version when you’re ordering. You do have to get a camera if you want it to work with the unit or you can skip it
I really want to install this to my 08 TLS but the interface is killing me. They literally put a Toyota Corolla on the main screen? Not to mention how ugly the UI design is. Can you change that stupid car to some other backgrounds or get rid of the background altogether? At the beginning of the video your screen has some frosted glass boxes with a map on the top, is that CarPlay or you've changed the background/theme? The interface is really a deal breaker for me so please let me know if possible.
You can change the background and that car to whatever you want. You upload the image you want and save it to a certain spot on the device snd it shows up via wallpaper you can change to

When the panels were removed I drilled a small hole at the back of the top cubby compartment and shoved it through there. I only ran the apple one and the android one I just tucked under the steering column area if I need it. Alternatively you could run it to the center cubby behind the e brake or you wanted
On the car display near the blower I don’t think you can. For the actual screen it’s in the software setting somewhere. I think it’s the place you have to have like the 4 digit developer code to go into

Navitech sucks! poorest customer service ever. I actually bought a 2nd unit from a different company. I did noticed with the new units in order to turn on your rear defroster you need to turn on the fan and same goes for the in car circulation button

Did you ever end up adding Navitech's noise filter? It's to remove hissing noise when no music is playing.
I did I tested it both ways and it didn’t make a difference so I left it off. No issues to date. I’m guessing they fixed something internally

Yes it works on all 04 to 08 TLs. There is a slightly different wiring for the 04-06 vs 07-08

My outside temp is not correct. It stuck at 89 degrees F. I think it’s a bug they haven’t worked out

You ditch the metal brackets that were on either side of the old radio. The new fits in without it

The screen is the same. They send you a different harness because the 04-06 plugs are a little different than the 07-08 plugs

Does your FM work? If not, sounds like an antenna problem and connection on the back of the unit. If the FM works then sounds like a software problem

@@travelcarslife8066it does more than i'd need actually. i just hate the layout, fonts, etc. time was on this. plus i wouldnt want this to look outdated before the sun gets to it, in years time.

Navitech sucks! poorest customer service ever. I actually bought a 2nd unit from a different company. I did noticed with the new units in order to turn on your rear defroster you need to turn on the fan and same goes for the in car circulation button
