    I love this format. It's so cool to see what each player thinks is happening. It's also eye opening to see that 1000-1500 rated players are pretty often seeing the same ideas you are, just a bit less accurately. Good show putting the recap on their channels and helping them grow.

    2nd Game: Without engine checking (as I don’t have an engine available currently), correct after 6…Qg6 is probably 7.Nb5; the idea being a counterattack against c7, and discovering an attack on the c5 bishop. This is a common idea in many Scotch lines where black tries targeting the white e4 pawn too early.
    5.Be3 reinforces d4 and immediately threatens to win a piece via NxN followed by BxB. 5…Qf6 parries this, but at the cost of leaving c7 undefended.
    So as examples: 6…Qg6 7.Nb5,Bb6? 8.Bxb6,cxb6 9.Nc7+
    6…Qg6 7.Nb5,d6? 8.Bxc5,dxc5 9.Nxc7+
    6…Qg6 7.Nb5,Bd6 8.Nxd6 and white’s better
    6…Qg6 7.Nb5,Kd8?? 8.Bxc5
    6…Qg6 7.Nb5,Qxe4 8.Nxc7+,Kd8 9.Nxa8,Bxe3 10.fxe3,Qxe3+
    (No engine use so any mistakes are mine)

    In that second game, Voltz's maniacal focus on saving the g2 pawn led to his losing piece after piece. Interesting to see how that tunnel vision can affect an entire game. I mean, the main indicator to me was this: HE NEVER CASTLED. When the guy with the lower ELO doesn't castle, doom is the only outcome.

    • @VoltzChess
      @VoltzChess 8 місяців тому +1

      Lol you are correct when I was watching this back after I realised that maybe I should’ve just given the pawn up for some counter play. I just didn’t want to give him anything because I’m the weaker player

      Well, in the first game he played clearly below 1500 standards, it seems, but he was also disappointed of himself. But we all play poorly sometimes and have also crushed 1500-s like that once and a while when they have a really bad day. When they have good day, I have to fight hard to be able to win. If they have their good day at the same time as I have my bad day, they beat me.

      @userac-xpg, Nelson's rating is much higher than his. I know rating isn't always accurate to describe a person's skill, but seeing the numbers you get scared. Starting last year March and now a player of 1199, I know that whenever I see players with 1800, I get super nervous, and sometimes I can't even think straight. It's also unsettling when you KNOW your opponent is near winning

    At 45:51 , what happens if White puts his bishop on e2 now instead of kf3? I see that it threatens Black's queen and clears the way for castling queen side. Idk if there'll be time to do that castle though, or where black's queen goes.
