Me and Mike almost got arrested together in Des Moines, Iowa almost 25 years ago. Eyehategod were playing there with Suplecs and we're staying with my band and I. After the show we were partying at our house and the neighbors called the cops, who responded and nabbed most of E.H.G. getting stoned in the driveway. Mike, Suplecs, my girl and I all hid in the basement cowering behind the washer and dryer, in which we'd all hid all of our drugs in just prior. I remember Mike repeating mournfully, "My hands in fucking Angola, man. Dave, my bands in fucking Angola." Later, to my utter fucking astonishment and proof of the fact that Eyehategod are dark kings of another world, the fucking cops RELEASED THEM AND GAVE THEM BACK THEIR WEED. IN DES MOINES IOWA. 25 YEARS AGO. When weed was the same as murder practically. You could count on NEVER being cut a break EVER there. And they get let go and are returned their ganj. These guys were and still are the real deal and take it from me, they lived and still live(most.R.i.p. Joey, my friend) the life that one must to be able to report back to the rest of us, to write the shit they do and make it real and honest and feel like these motherrfuckers have been there and have hurt the way we have and made the same mistakes, felt the same loss, loneliness, anger, sorrow and hopelessness but among all those feelings, lEyehategod offer us their greatest gift...they let us know we're not alone. That others feel the same way. And they do it with the heaviest, most savage, yet catchy(!!!), songs ever to make my friend, Pat, say upon first listen, "Sounds like dinosaurs thrashing in a tar pit " Thank you Mike , Joey(rip), Jimmy, Brian, Steve, Danny, Gary. We owe you. ♥️
I hung out with him and the band twice in bars before and after shows both in Baltimore City Maryland and Washington DC years and years ago. Such cool dudes.
My band opened up for eyehategod at vinos in Little Rock Arkansas in 2017 and I hung out with mike for a bit, he’s a really nice dude, I’m glad to see that he’s looking healthy
Haven't seen them in years. In the 90s I got to see them numerous times. Met them and always had a fun time hanging. I hope I can see them one more time before all is done.
I got to meet Mike & shake his hand at a show they played in Ohio with Cro-Mags & Fistula. I fan girl’d a little bit and yelled his name while he was passing the bar to grab his attention. So if you’re reading this Mike, I’m sorry if I looked like an asshole bro, but it was great to meet you lol. Godspeed brotha.
I never really got big into EHG for whatever reason…but Mike’s guest vocals on the 94 Brutal Truth cover of Media Blitz are some of my favorite of all time. And his work on Metal Maniacs with Alicia 13 in the mid-90s made some fantastic issues. Wish I still had them. Gonna go play some EHG now.
No it's not, he's lying to himself. It's both negative and positive but people hide from the negative which is guys like Mike have liver transplant, addiction, prison time etc. Embrace the duality, be negative, embrace your hatred and your love. Don't be afraid to be yourself.
I got jumped by Phobia. Their opening act...they were awesome...they transported me to a swamp planet...out in space....eye h god that is...not phobia they just waited till i got too drunk.. and then started punching..real classy.
Iron Monkey Charger (Fuzzbastard) Meth Drinker Green Machine And of course the Gods themselves, the almighty BUZZOV*EN. Hope that helps friend, enjoy !!!...

Dopesick and Take As Needed are some heavy, sinister, dark shit. Bummed I didn't see them last year!
I got to see eyehategod in November of 2023 in Houston. I've gotta say they were they most humble band I've ever met.
Love this guy. Im quite good friends with him and talk to him on the regular!

I've only seen EHG once, but it was a borderline religious experience for me. They absolutely levelled the place.
