- What is causing your amp to go into protect mode? What do you do when your amp goes into protect? In this video, we go over a the main factors and variables causing amps going to protect. Distortion will do it too. Usually can just turn it down to the input signal isn't distorted. My JP84 doesn't like Distortion at all. The Salt 200.4 will tolerate a certain amount of Distortion however will go to protect until you reduce the volume. My Distortion point is 27 and it goes to 33. Yes it gets louder however it starts Distortion. The subs definitely get much much louder. So for a quick 15-30 seconds I can get the solid 140db @34hz
Blown sub or heat can cause this issue as well
Just straight up reversed the battery/ground inputs on an amp when I was 15, only time I've ever seen the protect light and it turned out still fine after
I somehow did that too wiring up at night even though I double checked the wires, and blew all my internal amp fuses. Still plays good to this day 100s of hours later! 😂
I also have managed to reverse my power and ground wire. Boy that smell is something I’ll never forget 😂 amp is still running knock on wood and it’s been close to 8 months now
I did that once, it was getting dark and mistook the ground for battery. The amp survived but the wire melted and nearly caught fire. I only had it connected wrong for 20-30 seconds

I just did this on accident. Don't know how I managed the mistake, especially since I checked it twice but nope... still did it backwards (my first install too).
The fuse blew instantly when I connected the ground cable to the battery. Hoping I didn't fry anything in my amp, and hoping the fuse did its job fast enough lol. I will never make that mistake again
If ur hitting bumps and ur amp goes into protect, you better check that 8g Autozone power wire LOL...

Why does my JP63 Bluetooth remote always shutting off when I start bumping hard ? Got to power it back on to get my bass going again. Is there a bypass? Or a hardwire trick ?
Usually shorts/ impedance issues and heat lead to MOSFET replacement too guys if your protect mode is STILL stuck.... In my journeys anyway :-)
IF the amp has MOSFETs obviously, but yeah test the output stages before sending it to the recycling bin
Most the time it's low voltage or a ground problem

I had a problem with a kicker cx1800.1 amp going into protection mode, one thing I learned was that Amp draws a lot of current I was running a 4 gauge cca wire, I pulled it out installed 0 gauge COPPER wire problem solved
DONT USE CCA!! USE ONLY COPPER WIRE!!
My son bought a brand new skar rp2000.1d and it has instantly in protect mode don’t understand why hasn’t worked since day one
Mine does it at certain volumes like with tuning an over 27 it goes into protect, I got a Sony XPLOD 500W amp and then wired to two 12s 1 12inch renegade and 1 12imch kicker?? What do I do
I have also seen those cheaper amps(says 5k amd pushing 500watts max), trying to push an far superior sub and cath the "Red-Light of DEATH." Buy your sub to match your amps out put or vice versa.

I have your jp23 amp and on the voltage meter of the amp it drops down to 12 volts but my car voltage meter is staying at 13.5 to 14.4 what's the problem with my voltage meter on my amplifier

Had an old Boss Audio System amp pushing 2- 6 x 9 & 2- 15" subs back in the day never a problem! You just hoped your car never got broken into.
I have this amp, I used 2 different power cables, 2 ground cables, and I disconnected everything and I still have the red light, but when I disconnect the control amp, no light appears. I tried another cable and the same thing happens.

Why are they rated for 9-16volts then?....update. .check the power fuse block under the hood to make sure the fuses are tight....
My goes on blue and yellow which means clip and I already rewire everything in the light of clips still on
When I 1st got my jp83 it was in protect couldn't figure it out for 3 days finally ran a ground from the frame of my car to the back battery and boom problem solved

I had the sub channel on my JP95 release the magic white smoke just from the + and - speaker wire accidently touching. Wish it would've gone into protect 😭. My fault though but still a sad moment.

My amp keeps going into protect if I play certain songs at a certain volume any explanation for that? I don’t understand what’s going on I’m going to check the ohms on my wires here soon but I’m not sure how to check voltage I have a basic set up that runs power from the battery to my amp and it turns on when the radio turns on and it lets it know how can I solve this issue?

*My friend amp kept going into protect. Come to find out, the idiot ran the lowest ohm load on the speakers to the amp and got very hot. Now he keeps crying about it* 💁🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
For a while now my amp has been stuck in protect mode it started one day when im not gonna lie i had them too loud and they stopped playing and started smoking so im assuming the amp is just done 100% but i want to make sure theres no fix before i buy a new one. Right now when i put all the wiring in the amp it stays with the blue light until i put the remote wire in and then it goes back into protect mode does anybody know what the problem is or have a fix. I've alr tried letting it sit with no wiring.
Great amps go in and comes outta protect .... like my jp 23 .... its over temped a time or to after hours of beating I've never had another amp come outta protect
My kicker amp went in protect and came out and so has my JP@#V@ but you are right its very few that will.
My old soundstream xxx 10000 went into protection once

Most amplifier manufacturers don't honor their warranty I've seen crescendo and sundown honor there warranty. I use a lot of deaf bonce they are the absolute worst when it comes to warranty. I still have a few on the shelf

My last fullbridge Soundqubed amp will go into a constant clip signal not protect and not go back to power. In clip my amp will not work. It never worked agin so I had to return it.
Can anyone tell me what may be wrong with my Amp other than the fact that theyre skars? OK so I had 2 skar rp2000s and I was running one wolfram pt15 d1 with one positive from one coil with the negative of the coil to one Amp and the opposite with the other Amp cause i wasnt aware that the rps are not strappabl3 until after i get them and go to intall and im like whoops. Lmao but before I plugged the speaker in I was trying to gain match them to where they both read the same output voltage to each coil then as I'm adjusting back and forth matching them then making sure they're not clipping one of them goes in to protect and has never came back out and that was nearly two years ago and I still have the one in protect but sold the other one along with the wolfram sub and my d4s 6.0 lto and stuff for only like 500 dollars but I'm wanting to add a few little 10s back in the car and the rp2000 would be nice especially if whatever it is is super easy and cheap to fix I'd rather use it for now until I can get me a jp23 or 33. I'm so tired of no bass. Lol any input would be greatly appreciated guys.
Not sure on the amp.. the only thing I can say is I have the jp 23 v2 on 2 10s . And it's plenty of amp .. I wouldn't think you would need a 33
My Power Acoustik Overdrive I had for 3 years has been hooked up and running the same since 2021. Now just started going into protect mode. Have no clue why.

My kicker k12 2400 amplifier mysterious went into protection mode after audio place pulled my car in and it wouldn't come out. I bought a sundown salt 3 and system hitting harder. I have 4 comp q 12 where my backseat use to be in my camaro. I do plan on sending amp to kicker to have a spare amp on deck.

Well I'm here to try and solve an issue and not just keep on going into protect mode. So my amp goes in and out of protect with high volume but at 1/3 volume no issue I did notice today that the light was flickering with the base but all my connections are tight and I beefed up all the original power and ground wires years ago. The amp was used I'm wondering if it was abused and needs a fixin.

Bad ground. Ground to the body or frame of the car especially trying to push 2 l7 15s and might wanna get a bigger amp. I had 2 L5 12s on a 4000 w mono class d amp. 2300rms at 2 ohm. And they took it like it was nothing everyday for 2 years until I wrecked and messed the amp up. Speakers survived tho lol.
I have a Rockville sub n amp in one and worked great n all a sudden stopped and now flashed green and red whenever I plug the rca cables in.. I unplug them and it stays green? Can anyone help?

I had an amp that use to work just fine and one day it would went into protection mode and a pop noise came from my subs and when I checked it out i noticed my subs where pushed out when the amp was on in protection mode and the amp would work sometimes and eventually i changed the amp and everything worked fine any clues why the amp did that?

Has anyone ever experienced burning a pair of subwoofer right after turning the on your deck? Amp is not on PROTECT mode.
Hey jp I am running one of your jp23v1 amps and when running full tilt my temp light dimly flashes with the bass. Not the clip light. When I check the temp it was very normal with outside temp. Is something wrong with my amp

Hey man I am having a problem that I’ve never experienced before and haven’t found a lot of info on, my amp goes into protect mode when the car starts. When it’s in accessory mode the amp and subs work perfectly fine like always, but now as soon as I turn the ignition the amp goes into protect mode. And it just recently started happening and I haven’t changed anything about my setup, which has been playing fine for the last year. Any advise on narrowing this down? I feel like I’ve tried everything

@@rustymotorheadvoltage drop when starting. I had the same problem and it was fixed by getting a new battery.
@@travislilly3537 thanks for the reply, i actually figured out my issue already, turns out my alternator was actually over charging and putting out almost 18v when my car was running, and amp would go into protect mode cuz it was over the 15v max

Do you have a audio control lc2i/lc7i? If so check the knobs on the device, if it’s too high it’s sending too much voltage to your rca

I have a sound system with the epicenter and kicker amp I checked everything it might be my battery it still goes into protect mode
