It’s a huge accomplishment for ALL of these 20 HBCUs to be on this prestigious list. We are proud of *all* of our HBCUs. 🔥This kicks off our HBCU Spotlight series. @sarawilliams874 That not true. All are not great. Unfortunately there are many that are not to standards, and with high acceptance rates there are many that trelikand act like it's the hood. So let's not be delusional that everything we do as a people is great just because it's black people.
Morehouse/ clark Atlanta university/ Spelman/ Morris Brown/fort valley state/ Savannah state university/ Albany state university / Paine college. Salute to all the black colleges and universities in my home state Georgia and across the nation.💪💯
Fisk was a great experience for me I did better there than I ever thought I would. I wanted to be a "Jubilee Singer" but I had way too many classes at the time. Congrats to all HBCUs!
Never ceases to amaze me how Morehouse and Spelman are always on these lists and CAU isn’t when in reality they were taking all of their harder upper level classes on our campus because Clark is an actual university! Leaving CAU out of the AUC is disgusting but go off.
I was very disappointed with the poor behavior of some people at Moorehouse graduation 2024. They were extremely disrespectful towards The President of the United States 🇺🇸. Embarrassing 😓 A person can have quality education yet lacking in good manners. What a shame
North Carolina has FOUR Black colleges/universities on this list. It is unfortunate that Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C., one of the FIRST HBCUs to be established, did not make the cut.
Proud to have graduates in our family from: Cheney University Lincoln University in PA Deleware State U. Virginia State U. Howard U. Morgan State U. Great experience attending these achools
Really wish we would get the common theme of inadequate “campus infrastructure” and “administrative processes/responsiveness” aspects of our schools to be uncommon. My daughter loved her experience at Norfolk State University. However, these same less than optimal elements of campus life existed there as well. We have to rectify this. We can do it. We must do it
This list doesn't take into account schools that have high Research Carnegie Classification. Schools with Engineering, Biology, and Computer Information. The schools include the following comprehensive schools such as Howard, Morgan, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, Southern, FAMU, Hampton, Prairie View A&M. which are more comprehensive in the course offering. Liberal Arts schools do a great job as well. These lists should try to differentiate more by program strength.
As a 1967 graduate of a HBCU (Howard U) I am shocked at the current tuition costs. I know times have changed but back in the day one could attend a HBCU for "pennies on the dollar" so to speak. I don't think I could afford current tuition prices. However, these days there are a lot more scholarship opportunities than "back in the day".
Tennessee State university is no longer considered an HBCU....there was an effort I believe in the 80s or 90s to have that designation removed by the state. I went to Tuskegee undergrad and Tennessee state for graduate school. I remember them not being put in ebony and jet for prettiest girls or co-ed at HBCUs, or something and them not mentioned.
@@face9428, Tennesse State University is still an HBCU. You’re providing incorrect information. The state has not removed anything; however, it owes the school 2 Billion dollars that it diverted to PWI’s in the state, such as The University of Tennessee Knoxville.
I am a proud graduate of Morgan State University, class of 1978. However, family members are proud HBCU graduates from NCCU, NCA&T, Virginia Union, Elizabeth City State, and Virginia State. Several are members of the Divine 9.
Great presentation. One wonders what criteria US News and World Report used to come up with these rankings? That’s something you should have included in your description. Also it’s concerning that students at every institution commented on problems with administrative processes and campus facilities/infrastructure. Another area of concern is that in only two or three schools engineering was listed as a top three subject of study. Not one school mentioned technology, pre-law, math, or pre-med. This is unfortunate because there is a massive shortage of Black doctors and lawyers. We need more young Black people in STEM careers. Thank you.
Respectfully, don't quite understand how Spelman beats a school like Howard. Howard has medicine, law, business, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture, theology and on and on producing far more prestigious graduates and far more influential on an international scale. It's like if Mount Holyoke or Smith College beat Harvard University every year. Spelman is a fantastic institution for women but it's a small liberal arts college with limited reach.
My daughter just graduated from Howard the biggest class in the history of Howard. It was such a proud moment. Love love my HBCU they are not perfect but my told me she would choose Howard again .
Congratulations to all of these black colleges but I have to make my statement because it's very important you mean to tell me there are 102 black colleges in this country that are private and public the problem is this every year that means thousands of black young men and women graduate from these colleges now we all know that discrimination is still within the United States we need to stop repairing these children to work, why not also offer an entrepreneurship where they might have to start a business
FAMU was my college choice. Two aunts, several cousins, my assistant principal in high school, many influential teachers, and several high school friends and classmates …also graduated from FAMU. Love Rattlers! 🧡💚 🐍🐍
I love HBCU's in general but these list rarely leave the east coast? I don't think any SWAC school is on the list with the exception of FAMU which is a recent addition and we have the biggest enrollment and some of the highest ranking salaries.
Xavier University is pronounced as Zavier University. The pronunciation Ex-zaxier (Xavier) University is used for the PWI in Ohio. It os a point of pride for those of is that have graduated or attended the our institute. Thank you for for the recognition

Black Universities nurture our children, providing them the pride and confidence to excell in Life. As a product of Busing of the '70's, my education led me to a PWI ( predominantly white Institution). Thank God for an my amazing Black Village, and my access to friends on HBCU campuses. It is essential that we take advantage of enrolling our children on campuses that will nuryure, support and encourage their talents.
M eldest daughter has her Masters and bachelors in pediatric psychology from Bowie State University. My nephew is also attending Bowie. My younger daughter is attending Morgan is enrolled at Morgan State University for dentistry. My wife's uncle has a Bachelors in engineering from NC A&T. I hope that all of the infrastructure and administrative issues with each University will be corrected so that they can move more effectively into the future. Gotta say no Jackson State is kinda rough but i agree with the list. Just means Jackson State has continued work to do. I get it. Very good list though. FAMU at nunebr 3? That's pretty good. I also like NC AT

#21. Prairie View A&M University, Panther-Paradise, TEXAS. (smile)
Campus infrastructure & administrative processes seem to be a challenge for all schools.
All of our HBCU's are great!

Prat tell why are they not taking those courses on their own campuses.?
As far as I am concerned. Clark Atlanta should be number one on this list
I was very disappointed with the poor behavior of some people at Moorehouse graduation 2024. They were extremely disrespectful towards The President of the United States 🇺🇸. Embarrassing 😓 A person can have quality education yet lacking in good manners. What a shame
The students who protected brought shame and disrespect to our President. Not every university had the privilege of POTUS for its speaker.
I meant protested
Administrative Processes was a running theme for these TOP Universities. They need to get it together!
Attending an HBCU currently, I must agree that administrative and Facilities/Infrastructure are a big issue and need to be addressed.
Alright HBCU's!!! 🤗😉 Now, let's work on SECURITY, CAMPUS FACILITIES, ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSES & CAMPUS INFRASTRUCTURE. LET'S BE GREATER!!!😉❤📚❤❤
I wish more people were honest about the need for improvement on SOME HBCU campuses.

I'd like to see a ranking of HBCUs by dorms and facilities. A bunch of these wouldn't make the list and some that weren't mentioned, would be.

I guess it depends on the criteria of the rankings.
Yep my bonus daughter is going for Interior Architecture
I agree with you!
What happened to our (fam) alumni, Prairie View A&M University known for Engineering & Register Nursing? I noticed no Texas HUBC was listed 😢
