This is what we never got to see in the 2002 adaptation of The Time Machine: there’s a scene where the protagonist travels to the year 2037 and New York City is being destroyed by the Moon breaking up. They actually had a scene like this in the script and the storyboards, but most of it was not filmed in light of the then-recent 9/11 attacks.

I agree we only got like 3 destruction scenes total. That's what I didn't like about this movie don't get me wrong the movie was decent but it's not what I would call an amazing disaster film. It's better than 2012

you know it's not so bad but in reality this kind of scenario would not happen even if the moon were to circle the Earth like in the movie by the time it gets close to one of the big cities we're already burying in the ocean and to top it off we would instantly get burn alive before we even get the chance to scream like I said this movie is all right there are some certain flaws

So is anyone else gonna question how new york wasn't already flattened before the moon even hit! Sure it's a movie and all but in real life this city would already be underwater and also anyone notice how the Chrysler building was being lifted into the air but in the ending it somehow ends up in Colorado which is on the other side of the US! This movie is alright but the story makes no sense
