I arrived in Sydney Australia nearly 40 years ago. The first time I took my children for a checkup in Sydney, the dentist came out and asked which country we had come from as he could see that the country did not have fluoride in the water.
Gosh this fluoride issue isn’t a real problem. They already know that pregnant women will immediately start drinking filtered water the moment they are made aware that fluoride isn’t good for the baby. Problem resolved until they do the studies and may find other issues which would need to weighed against the good fluoride does. Really shouldn’t be political, sounds like a small problem amplified dramatically.
The last guest made a pretty good point though; that if fluoride only prevents 0.25 cavities per child on average, maybe that's just too small of a benefit to even run the risk.
Wow, sounds like you've accepted that adding fluoride to drinking water has negative consequences that were never explained to citizens and has basically been covered up until RFK Jr made a point of it, yet you still want to disagree. ????? This is supposed to be a public interest broadcaster. Why are you promoting quackery ????? You said that RFK's stance is "science-based". This is negligent journalism. Where's the complaint email for this newsroom? The ADA and NHMRC strongly recommends community water fluoridation as a safe, effective and ethical way to help reduce tooth decay across the population. The NHMRC supports Australian states and territories fluoridating their drinking water supplies within the range of 0.6 to 1.1 ppm/milligrams per litre(mg/L). NONE of the five "significant" studies published in the last 10 years, (McPherson et al 2018, Bashash et al 2017, Barberio et al 2017, Valdez Jiménez et al. 2017, Fluegge 2016), contain conclusions that justify changing the recommendations of these public health measures.
@KaiStarkk Safe and effective. Sounds familiar. Considered corporate capture of FDA, CDC and NIH? Water without fluoride and food with nutrients worked pretty well. We are kind of hamstrung with our criticisms of Russia in Ukraine. Valid as they are, we (Australia and the USA) declared war on Iraq twenty years ago. Ostensibly to combat an Afghanistan-based terror group that was behind the World Trade Center attacks. There was some baffling strategy gymnastics to try and rope in Iraq as the key element of that attack and away we went to war. Russia isn't the only country this century to launch an unprovoked war with no benchmark for victory and no exit strategy. That undermines our arguments and hopes for peace.
The conservative commentator laments about leftward drift, and felt that the identity politics triggered a backlash. Does he not understand that it was Republicans making it an issue and not Democrats?

While I can't understand how America chose to vote for a convicted criminal, I still hope that President Trump has the decency to do what is right for America and set aside his grievances against his perceived enemies and just concentrate in making America great again. He will then leave a legacy that will be remembered by the American people long after he is gone.
John. You keep saying that Kamala only lost by 50000 votes. Why? Total number of votes is irrelevant. What counts must electoral college votes, and states one. On that count, Trump firmly defeated Harris. At least be fair on your assessment! You are showing your implicit biases.
As I understand it some states cast more Electoral College votes than others. 50000 votes is the number Kamala needed at minimum to cover the states that would have given her enough EC votes to swing the election. It's an unlikely scenario but accurate.
@GrimJackal well maybe. But the point is Trump won by a landslide based on electoral vote, which IS the way US elections are decided. In Australia, if more seats are won by a party than another, they win the election; and a 'landslide' occurs the winning party wins many more seats - it doesn't matter whether the overall number of votes was a lot or a few - they still thrashed the other side, which is what Trump achieved over Harris. John refuses to acknowledge that and is playing semantics to help him deal with the cognitive dissonance he is experiencing.....can't cognitively reconcile that people actually voted for Trump, like a lot of biased progressives. I know John is only human, but it would be nice to see some objectivity here.
Regarding the issue of fluoride in the water supply: don't you think it's efficacy has been overwhelmed by our high sugary diets? And in the case of the USA, they use HFCS - ouch! Love you guys, can't wait until you come back. Happy Christmas and New Year.
Don't agree with you logic on Kamala and "giving her a break" over fatigue. Trump campaigned for LONGER and had to deal with the courts, TWO assassination attempts and the media (including you guys) piling on him. Does he look fatigued? I don't think so!!

Cultural issues occupied a lot of the public space, but it's not the Dems who put them at the forefront of the campaign; they were playing on the defense the whole time.
Two words, "JOY" and "WEIRD"
Oh and a-bor-tion and democracy on the ballot. But sure. No evidence 😂
I can't believe this show is having a chat about fluoride in the water. I give up.
Yeah its really disappointing they're giving anti public health nonsense any time.

Haha I read that as god being the best journalist
You sound pretty brain washed, ideologically bent. Why not just try something new for a change? Is fluoride isln water the hill you want to die on?

you're just showing your own left wing bias.
Aren't toothpastes fluoridated by default in the US? I live in France where water is not fluoridated (though it naturally contains relatively low levels of fluor) but basically all non-infant toothpastes are, by default. Ain't that simpler to avoid prenatal/infant overexposure if that's the main concern?
Fluoridation in water causing communism was proven by Hunter S Thompson
It's hard to find a toothpaste that is not fluoridated.
Thank you so much Chas and John. You guys have become friendly faces to me through the year and I’ve enjoyed looking forward to your episodes every Wednesday and Friday all year. I think a break from all the glamour and glitz and time spent in the sun will be welcome but it will not be better just different. Different to spend Wednesday and Friday nights another way. Who says glamour and glitz when it’s comes to politics? I think is just us fans who are blessed to watch Planet America. Low key though, I am a bit scared for next week as last time John took a break all hell broke loose so Chas and John on hiatus I will be keeping my eyes open. Anywho, thank you guys.

For some reason I feel almost sick when I hear "sabre rattling". That must be the most overused term right now.
42:27 - But those statistics are a bit deceptive when put that way. It’s less likely to be a quarter of a cavity for each child and more likely to be the poorest kids each getting ten cavities.

But it's not even December! I mean I can't wait to kick the back of 2024, but isn't this premature jubilation?
… if Biden could just solve the inflation issue… help the working class families… with inflation allowance… to put food on the tables… and not forcing them to turn to charity FOOD BANKS… Kamala Harris could have won the election … because as Bill Clinton famously told George Bush Snr off… “It’s the ECONOMY stupid”…which cost the latter the election!
Great episode
I live in little old Grafton town, NSW, home of the Jacaranda festival, and I remember seeing an old story about an incident that happened over flouride being added to the water supply here in town. The debate got pretty nasty, I think some unauthorised demolition was involved, but I can't remember the full details. Crazy that the debate is still going on now.
IMHO, this program is airing way too soon even as a tongue in cheek look back. A lot of shit can still go down during the next month and couple of days! I would wait until the first week of 2025 for the recap.

There's only so much time you can devote to making excuses for Harris. Have to pad it out with something.
Really need to start attracting a more diverse audience to the panel when discussing internal matters. It’s becoming a massive echo chamber on repeat.
First of all, your comment implies Chas and John can't be impartial, which isn't true. Also, there's just the two of them. They can only do so much. John skews Left and Chas is Libertarian. Excessive fluoridation prenatal or possibly even in children causes a calcification in the pituitary gland otherwise know as the third eye. Even RFK would go as far to conceal a hypothesis like that, why would he of all people follow the scientific findings to the T? They use calcified pituitary glands as a point of reference during brain scans, this wasn’t possible when people didn’t have mineral deposits in their brain. I still dream but I can’t visualise and I wonder if they tried to insight aphantasia to breed a new kind of human - one that isn’t scared of their minds eye when they’re awake, Especially in kids that likes the taste of toothpaste too much. Also my teachers said I was the smartest
P.S. Nelson joked about selling this in the Simpsons.

You're on the right track although it's the pineal gland. Cheers.
Good guests today and I respect the governor’s opinions. I think the fact that he understands why Ukraine is so important shows that he’s a realistic guy who really understands the wider issues of the geopolitical situation. Something Trump and clearly most republicans seem to seriously lack.
Yes, but he kept emphasising the fact he was in full support of trump . There's none of them willing to openly stand up to anything he says. They're all too scared for their futures. Maga is the dominant "party ", not republican.
I think the last guest on Fluoride, is high on fluoride
European countries that haven't adopted the practice of dumping industrial waste into their water supply have had the same decline in dental cavities.
@@Hamez3000 Well said and if it's so good why do people drinking the poisoned water still end up with tooth decay? If they're so keen on fluoride they can brush their teeth several times per day.
@@slepper98 you would have to pay me to get me to make such bad arguments. "If seatbelts are so useful why do people wearing them still get killed in car accidents?" If you can't understand that, you don't have to worry about getting low IQ from your drinking water.

@KaiStarkk RFK has proven himself and his "theories" in court to be true quite a few times. It's not about some sort of 'eco-utopianism' or having to be synical . It's about understanding our human biology and living the healthiest way we can. Wish you the best health Kai 👍
Iraq wasn’t voted for a land grab to conquer and permanently occupy under an authoritarian dictatorship.
I think the key difference is that we left eventually. We didn't claim large swaths of Iraq in the name of Australia.
The conservative commentator laments about leftward drift, and felt that the identity politics triggered a backlash. Does he not understand that it was Republicans making it an issue and not Democrats?

It's his way of soothing the TDS especially after pushing Kamala had it in the bag. Walking it back now doesn't work.
