Hey Hop, you sound and look much better, not so miserable like weeks past dealing with sickness. I tell ya, that outside bolt on them 300 series stihl chain brakes are miserable to deal with. Either they strip, rattle loose or come out all the way. Not surprised there was locktite on it. You and the family stay healthy and keep it up man. God Bless.

I have never seen a porting video of a 391. I have had mine for 07 love this saw been looking to have it ported for a while. They make 64.1 cc stock would think they would do really well with a good port job.

Would be interesting to see how you port a ms391. On mine I just opened the primary lower because at BDC the strato window of the piston. I was afraid if I ground to it that it would not run.. I got mine running real good but it seems to lean out after a few cuts. Be cool to see how your port job works out.

Got a 391 in pieces awhile ago. New piston, runs great. But want to see what can be done to hop one up. Seemed overly complicated compared to the 029-039 series.

I got a 391 that blew the flywheel side transfer cover off while sawing , i am pretty sure they are glued on with some kind of epoxy , i suspect the saw ran hot although the piston and cylinder still look pretty good , its a low hour saw they might have just not got these glued on good .

    Ohh my goodness hopper!!!
I've been itching for one of you great ones to do one of these! My concern was how tiny the lower transfers are!!!

I bought a hyway kit with a pop up to do mine. It's actually a ms311. It looks like the stihl lowers are bigger than the hyway kit..

    Less and More
If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength; but wisdom [to sharpen the axe] helps him succeed [with less effort]. Ecclesiastes 10:10
Do you find that you never have enough time to do everything that needs to be done? Did you ever consider that you could get more done with less effort? There’s no such thing as something for nothing. However, there is also no need to ever use more than the minimum effort necessary. The less effort you put into getting each thing accomplished, the more you’ll be able to do. Reducing your effort is not being lazy -- far from it. In fact, it could be argued that NOT working to become more efficient is the lazy way to live. When you look for ways to reduce your efforts, you’ll open your eyes to a whole new way of doing things. For example, it takes less effort to regularly change your car’s oil, than to replace the engine. It takes less effort to put things away when you’re finished with them, than to trip over them every time you walk through the room. It takes less effort to deal with a problem early, than to avoid it and have it grow bigger. It takes less effort to save in advance for a purchase, than to buy it on credit and pay the interest. It takes less effort to do it NOW, than to ponder it, and worry about it, and wonder if you should, and then play catch up because it took you so long to get started. It takes less effort to do the difficult tasks early in the day, when your mind is fresh and clear, than to stay up late and do them while fighting fatigue. With each thing you undertake, ask “How can I do this with less effort?” There is usually a way, and by finding it you will grow vastly more effective.
Father in heaven, we all have many tasks to do, the question is how will we do them? Will we continue the same way as always? Or learn to accomplish more with less? Help us Father to learn and improve the way we do things, becoming more efficient and increasing our effectiveness. In Jesus name, AMEN!
    Efficiency is intelligent laziness.
