Yo could you imagine training your whole life to be the best melee warrior in your tribe only to get roasted by some dude wearing flamethrowers on his arms all while doing drugs?
OOF
Their fault for bringing melee swords to a flathrower fight.
Like being a black belt in kung fu and going to fight the talibans.
They are _really_ good drugs tho
wrgg
“BuT mUh PuRiTiMz Of FoRm!!!!!”
“haha flamethrower go fwoooooomfsh”
Who would win?
A psionic alien warrior bred from birth to harness his mind to be his literal weapons.
OR
A convict thrown into a cheap power-armored suit armed with flame throwers with no regards to the user's safety, his loyalty and lethality is kept entirely in-check with drugs and mental inhibitors, and press ganged into the an expendable conscript army?
Your mother
To answer all of the "why aren't Firebats used more" questions, it's because Firebat damage is reduced when hitting Heavy or Medium armor types, which generally speaking makes firebats absolutely terrible against anything other than massed Zealots or Zerglings. Since they have short range they aren't very effective against Terrans period. They do see some sporadic use as early game bunker units or sometimes see use in Marine Medic balls vs Zergling / Dark Swarm. But in most other common scenarios Firebats are bad.
and also gas is required, same cost as medic
Not quite true. Firebats are currently build in mass vs Zerg, since even vs Medium units their damage is good, since they can deal their splash up to 3 times per hit, if the target is big enough. Also they hit Lurker burried under Dark Swarm. Top Terrans are currently making 20+ Firebats at once to combat Dark Swarm Lurkers. The reason they are not made vs Protoss is because the Reaver exists and they suck vs Dragoons.
Oh, thanks for this explanation!
mass zealot is very common in PVT though
When I played broodwar with my buddies, I was known for regularly putting firebats in my bunkers. I would usually place them one in front and two behind it. The front bunker would have 3 firebats and 1 marine, and rear bunkers 1 firebat and 3 marines each, and siege tanks at the back along with a mobile force of a dozen marines and another 6-8 firebats + medics behind them (I used to block with supply depots as a newbie, but these worked more against me than for me in PVP fights). Firebats aren't as useless as one thinks (only against zerglings and zealots for example) -they drain the shields of all protoss units rapidly, which can be absolutely devastating also against archons and dragoons combo if they decided to simply walk in ignoring my bunkers and focusing on my siege tanks first. Firebats are excellent support units in general if used as such, just don't expect them to do all the hard work all by themselves. I also had a second line of empty bunkers at the back around important buildings if the first defense line failed. This type of defense is easy to build, easy to rebuild between assaults, and flexible enough to allow for me to also go on the offensive. This tactic worked very well on most maps, primarily the most popular like Lost Temple and (Big Game) Hunters.
One memory burned into my memory was on break at programming camp, someone was playing brood war and was using 12 zealots to attack a 4 firebat bunker. Of course a stupid idea but this was 20 something years ago and we were young.
I was specifically watching his selection wire frames for the 12 zealots. Every few *whoosh firebat attack sound, some zealot wireframes would disappear, most would go from green to yellow, some yellow to red. The zealots died really fast lol, and me as an impressionable young kid said "holy shit!"
.,.
no such thing as stupix or burnx or etc, cepuxuax, remx forx any nmw and nay s perfx
Que buen contenido bro!

Nice videos dude!
Keep it up! Good jod!
I made a bet with a friend when i was younger, his 12 zealots vs my 12 firebats. He couldnt believe he lost. Lol!
I wonder how the firebats would do when surrounded if they started in a ring 2 firebats deep, then ordered to hold ground; when the first firebat dies, then the hold ground command is released for all of them, replaced with a normal stop command. I think that would help them a lot.
1:40 I unironically love the pathing and unit movement in this game, minus the dragoon sometimes. It just feels so real!
i knew firebats dod well vs zealots but i thought they were close to even neat!
At surounded they should pe put in hold possition...
Already knew Zlots would lose
Why not include Zealots surrounded?
that first volley of flame is incredibly satisfying
idk why but this reminded me of that old traditional chinese martial arts master that was like i am invincible and then challenged an mma figher and got his ass kicked in like 2 nanoseconds. yeah zealots train with their psi blades for their entire lives and truly believe in their cause but a fucking junkie psycho with flamethrowers for arms and with absolutely no regard for life is just way too effective
Flamethrower vs Dual blades
Very cool video
firebat extremly op
Toasty!
those zealots just afk for like a second or two ..
Someone really need a lighter .
Firebats to zealots be like:
"You don't understand! I'm not surrounded by you! You're subrounded by me!"
Veterans probably already knew this but, as a lay Starcraft enjoyer, this was by far the most surprising result out of your videos because 1 on 1 it's definitely a way different result.
The range of the Firebat attack and area of effect made a world of difference.
Terran units always needed critical mass. Like marines vs zerglings. Marines lose to zergling hard until u get a control group of them and zergling can’t even touch the marine ball
wrrr
This is why Firebat is so competent in SC1 but terrible in the campaign.
Firebats in SC1 has half the resource cost and they are much smaller allowing more of them to attack and more importantly they attack twice instead of only once of SC2 and have greater area effect. Firebat in WOL is basically half as strong as their SC1 counterpart although they has twice as much health.
The problems is that blizzard decided to shift the bat from a Frontline early AoE to counter ling zealot to an early game Frontline tank with minimal damage. In an army all about glass cannoning the enemy, high mobility where the marauder exists which does the same job but actually has good damage and utility with concussive making it better at keeping your bio alive
@@BartixShieldsmen Yeah.
Who the heck care about tanky unit in Terran army? Their army philosophy has always about range. The only thing Bat has over many other Terran units are their aoe. Without it, they are useless sitting duck.
What good is being tanky if you could just kill enemies before they can do any damage? If Marine is as squishy and has as short range as their sc1 counterpart and Marauder only has 60 health than maybe firebat would be a good investment.
This completely changed my worldview.
For YEARS I've always thought that firebats were a useless unit until today. Holy crap that splash damage is really good! Even without medics they're really good!
They would probably lose in smaller groups like 5 v 5 . Firebats are not unbalanced units but they are almost never used in competitive cause they're niche units. Every niche unit is strong but only if you're playing against AI.
@@SorakaOTP462 They are sometimes used against ling heavy comps with dark swarm. Even then they don't fare that well if the zerg has more than a couple of lurkers, which is most of the time.
I remember when i was playing against protoss ai they would always send a 15ish zealot attack thats when i learnt how valuable firebats were instead of just pure marine
Who win?
> Hardened warriors with psychic abilities, protective shields and hundreds of years of battle experience
> Stoned bois with flamethrowers
Fire bats won because they have armor, and a big fucking flame thrower.
Firebat "flamethrowers" are actually heated plasma sprays.
Los Murciélagos de fuego son mi unidad favorita, BARREEEEN a los ZEALOT
i still dont get how drugs can make you shoot faster lol
Why the firebats look like they survived a fire they started accidentally?
Accidentally?
,.
Lorewise, their armor are designed to be every fire resistant.
@@hiyoritokisada594 And lorewise, their very fire resistant suit melt after a few bursts.
Why Artosis does not build firebats against zealots then?
This really shows how important a good surround is.
Dude how can you bring to the battle a fking sword against flamethrowers xddddd
Bullets vs Zealot ☠
A little bit of fire 😈
Now try 50 firebats vs 1 scout
ok i get it dont counter fire bats with zelots
No medics? Author is noob.
impressive
