CYCLING IN ITALY | EPIC CYCLING CLIMBS | TAKING ON THE DOUBLE STELVIO

- Pretending we are in the Giro d'Italia and ticking off a huge bucket list cycling challenge: road cycling up on one of the most iconic mountain passes. Stelvio Pass. Not once, but twice - cycling from Bormio, down the Umbrail Pass, cycling in Switzerland (briefly) and then climbing again to the top of Stelvio.
I lose count of the number of switchbacks (or hairpins), experience what feels like a first cycling bonk and are completely blown away on this incredible cycling trip.
A few items featured in the video are incredibly kindly #gifted by some amazing partners (feel so lucky, thank you).

Stunning video that descent!
I think I will invest in the book
Chris the book is incredible! But it’s costing me a fortune 😆😆 the descent was unreal!
Switzerland, having lived there for three years, I still miss it ❤🇨🇭
So beautiful! Would love to do more riding there!
Great video!!
Thanks so much 💜
I was a pretty good climber when I raced but never got the chance to ride these iconic climbs the ventoux being at the top of my list to see the Tom Simpson memorial. I’m so jealous but at the same time so impressed with your climbing go girl 🚴🏽♀️👍🎉
Ahh thank you so much! Ventoux is on my list! Absolutely love a climb! Will you get out to Ventoux to do it in your own time?
@@Pelohun I’m too bloody old now 🤣🐐
@@Stevehatesgravel NEVER!!!
Ive been to the Tom Simpson memorial in Harworth, Notts!
Did a very similar loop some years ago, thanks for bringing up the great memories of this amazing ride! And cheers for completing it! 👏
Ahhh that’s awesome! Isn’t it incredible, felt like such a bucket list trip ☺️
After the double there is the triple💪💪
Great effort and see you in May😉
Hahah thank you! Can’t wait!
holy moly what a sight, indeed great show, thanks.
Incredible scenery isn’t it! Thanks so much for watching!
Doing this ride July 2025 and am absolutely buzzing for it. Great video
Ahhhh amazing! Super excited for you, thanks for watching
I'd never been to the Alps or Dolomites until a few days ago as part of a road trip from the UK. I couldn't believe how many cyclists were powering up Stelvio and other mountain roads! Fair play, one hell of a climb.
Unbelievable isn’t it. Belter of a climb ⛰️🏔️ hope you had a brilliant time. What an experience ✨
Awesome ride, well done the both of you
Ahh thank you so much, it was so beautiful. Thanks for watching!
@@Pelohun It’s a pleasure to watch your videos
Stelvio is immense, did it from Prato for my birthday last August, it was amazing, was a cycle touring so had panniers. Equally amazing was next day on Passo dello Spulga 31km with 51 hairpins. Stunning to link the two as there's a wonderful new continuous cycle route from Bormio to the head of Lake Como, wonderful route 😊
Isn’t it just incredible!! So impressed you cycle toured it with panniers!
@Pelohun I think it's good no matter how you do it. Although it was August so >30⁰C and next day on Spluga was 40 🥵 so glad of all the water taps!
How was the climb from Bormio? I have friends planning it this year, but from my descent I didn't feel the one way tunnels would work or feel safe when climbing, do the stop lights last long enough for cyclists?
That looks awesome
Honestly it was so much fun, had an absolute blast.
Hi there loved your videos. We are about to leave to do the Stelvio and want to do it the same way as you have but I can't seem to find the link to your route.
Heading to Bormio in July - not sure if I will do the double Stelvio loop yet....all depends on fitness! Great effort from you guys though!
Ahhh you will LOVE it. Good luck, go for it!
that looked incredible
It was absolutely unreal - bucket list!!
Hi , great real people coverage of the Stelvio.👍I’m heading there for the first week in July, and hoping to do the very same route. Could I ask when did you go and how bad was the traffic? Thanks, Paul
Ahh it was brilliant - we were end of July. Traffic wasn’t bad at all, few motorbikes, but that was it!
the stelvio contains 4 of my favourite climbs (prato, umbrailpass, Alto Adige and bormio). I think the bormio climb is the easiest of the 4.
I think you would enjoy the Grossglockner route in Austria, from Dollach and passing Edelweiss
Oooh those are definitely on my list!
Nice ride,it worth a try Transfagarasan way from Romania, similar with Stelvio but nicer.
Thanks so much! Will check that out!
17 years, how is that possible? good vid
Haha find a man who makes you laugh and don’t let him go. 😂
👏👏👍👍
cripes , going up once on the trainer ( your last ascent way ) was exhausting enough .
( 57 years )
Well done! It’s no easy feat on the trainer! The views helped me so much, so I’d say the trainer is harder!
apart from the altitude etc haha @@Pelohun
