This is where the expression, ''sinking a well'' comes from. back in the day a large cart wheel would have been placed in a hole at a safe depth, minus a few spokes. then the brickwork would be built on top of the rim upto ground level or thereabouts, then the digging in the hole commences underneath the wheel and the whole lot starts to ''sink'' as per earlier expression. clever when you think the idea goes back hundreds of years.
This is why… the open well is 25 feet deep. The water level is 4 feet deeper than the bottom of the well. That means the top of the water level (the water table) is 29 feet below the surface of the land. A pump on the surface can lift water no higher than about 33 feet before a vacuum of water vapor is created. They needed to pump to be closer to the water table. That’s the purpose of the hole. The hole gets the pump closer to the water table reducing the pump’s lift to something manageable. The actual well is the pipe in the ground. The hole is only for the pump. The mechanical pump is driven by the diesel engine via a long belt.
I wish they would have shown how the brick was done. I am very interested in knowing. Can someone explain?
Denver Moses Jr ,i also came here to see that😄😄
Wellcome
They dig a he and than they build up the bricks. Its pretty obvious
@@gangsta1355 It's pretty obvious? What's pretty obvious? Did they simply throw bricks, willy-nilly, on top of each other until they magically reached to the top of the 'he'? Did the brick position itself? Did the brick itself decide how they should be positioned, or how each course should be laid for maximum strength and stability? Come to think of it, did the 'he' dig itself?
"They dig a he".. ffs
@@ClaimOfRightMuso yes
The bricks rest on a ring that you can see at 0:35. They just keep digging and add bricks to the top and keep digging down and under the ring. The whole structure slowly falls into place. I have seen a ring of steel, but here it looks like concrete or mortared bricks.
Absolutely amazing. Master craftsmanship!!!
So well done, great work.
Well done. Hahahahah well
How was the wall built, why didn't you show it..?
Nice,❤️
can u explain: How does it work to DIG ON THE BOTTOM but add new bricks on top? does the whole cylinder from brick slide down into the newly dug cavity without breaking?? is there a concrete ring on the bottom to start with?
Watch dig with dibnah full version it's all there hope this helped
@Lé Dog Couldn’t have said it better myself mate.
Brilliant
Grate work
do they manually dig the hole & the brick subsequently sink ?
Yes dig the well and the brick goes down
Explore Future Official That’s interesting! Would love to try this in my backyard but it seems dangerous. That are many tonnes of bricks and earth pressure. One can easily get killed in a little accident.

@@Engineer9736 hi watch dig with dibnah full version it should help you.
How does the brick go down? ?
How are they installing the brick as they go down?
Masha Allah. What's the title cost including bricks? In kerala we are using concrete rings instead of bricks. I feel dangerous for the workers if it collapsed. Allah is great.
I don't understand nothing. 😕 they put the bricks before digging!!
Do you dig around the bottom of the bricks and let the brick slide down and build on top?
Beautiful work, very nice. Unfortunately no one does this kind of well here in Brazil anymore.
Thank you for giving your feedback
Do it your own .. pure fresh water ..
What is the point of that massive brick well if all it takes is freaking pipe which was there from begining?? Human stupidity knows no boundaries
This is amazing! Quick question, as I noticed that you were using machinery to distribute the water up and out towards the fields. If you were to have kept digging, would you have been able to let the water fill up that well over time and thus just use a bucket to gather the water? I am trying to learn how to build a well without machines.
Yes, this is a good question. If you dig the well, it would be filled with water
The water there was not under much pressure underground or it would have started filling up the well the first time they could see water. If you connect 2 containers of water together they will always maintain the same water level, same thing with wells. The water level in the well will only be as high as the groundwater level.
If the depth is deeper than the water table then yes you could scoop it out with a bucket like they used to do!
I'm confused as to why the need for such a huge diameter to the shaft. If it’s just for machinary, a shaft half the size would
do the same job.
amazing Job! I would like to know is this basically how the people in the bible would of built wells, Like Abraham or Jacob?

Africa needs this now 😂
This is stupid. Why didn't they just drill a six inch pipe well.
Not everyone has the means to afford a professional to drill a pipe well. Also not all places are accessible by large drilling rigs.
This video shows the technique better though using concrete pipe instead of brick. With brick you build a solid brick circle and then did the soil and clay so the pipe or brick circle slide down as youvexcavate inside. Then you add more layers of brick or pipe on top before digging out the centre again. The oldest brick layers are at the bottom.
Fred Dibnah does a version but uses steel rods driven outwards into the clay to hold the mortared brick in place before digging underneath and then building the brick layers.ua-cam.com/video/Iuo1zsabKKI/v-deo.html
