Well i just got my '07 B.M.W..750i..ALPINA B7..being wanting one for long time...finally got it...private owner..i've enjoyed for last 3 weeks...it's awesome...
Back again watching this...🙄 I so love this car.. Ireland is in a bit of a lockdown and all your videos are being re watched.... again😊 excellent as always.
I really wish I had the chance to re-do this video with the current format we're using for the show. I really like this car, doing a proper video on any E65/E66 is still high on my list. Stay safe!
Glad you liked it! We feel that we've grown a lot in terms of production quality and content since filming this early episode, in fact this was the very first video we ever did with the TestDrive branding!
@@PRNTestDrive *☀Wow☉we own a 2005 **745.LI** White Ext, Peanut Butter Color interior🌅Men great Car🗺until We get That Stalion Black 2012 B-7 Alpina Men What a Luxurious Car The precise Work of art, power, quality and Design🌠*
I miss that Alpina was available easily here in Canada for a few years. I think around the time we started doing press cars BMW Canada allowed you to buy a B6 and B7 directly from them.
We're saving that for the TestDrive of the B7, we're going to arrange a time when we can get behind the wheel and go for a spin. We just switched over our video equipment and we don't have the right gear to do interior driving shots anymore.
Hey I love your material dude! Ever since I saw the comparison between the different 7 series generations. I want to ask you something... Would you get this car? I mean being short wheelbase, after coming from your 740il.
The Alpina specifically? Probably not, and it's only because it would cost me about 4x more than I've ever paid for a used car. I do however want to get myself an E66, I'm on the hunt for the perfect example. I'd like a 2008 750Li with the cream beige interior and black/green exterior. Night Vision/Active cruise are a nice addition, but my must-haves are the rear iDrive screen, active/ventilated seats, and comfort access. I'm budgeting an E66 for next year!
PRN Oh very nice. That would be a lovely combo. I don't mean to put anything in the way of you wanting an E66. But I am curious.... Have you/would you ever consider a 750i E38? With the V12. That would be a RARE ride!
I've been looking out for a 750iL for a while now, but there aren't many available up here. I'd love to find one in excellent condition, probably a black on black. In fact, there was a 2001 750iL at the parts shop I bought some 750 interior bits from yesterday, it was black on tobacco interior, looked fantastic despite being in very rough shape. I'd get something like that.
PRN Awesome! Nice to hear. I hope you find one, because of the fact they are so rare. Or, if you must go for an E66, you could try to find a 760li. That is you're looking for a V12 Lol. Also a very rare ride. I've only seen one in my life.
There's an 03 760Li for sale at a Kia dealership, they want about $9k CND for it. It's almost affordable for me to buy it just to make videos about it, but I'd need to grow the channel 1,000x in order to make that profitable! For now I'm on the hunt for someone with an E38 750iL in the area that I can do a comparison video with, I think it would be a great video, something I'd want to spend a lot of time working on to make perfect.
It should have basic Bluetooth audio for calling. Nile recently bought a 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class and can connect his phone for calls only, as it doesn't support the A2DP audio streaming codec via Bluetooth.
+PRN yeah the pre lci e65 didn't do it for me the rear deck lid / taillights looked terrible with that little strip piece but with the refresh it made the whole car flow better,
A lot of hate towards the E65 was built around the design shift, and hate built up off that. There were certainly problems, especially with the 745i engine, those are to be avoided for sure. I believe the owner of this one still has it, we heard from him about a year and a half ago and he still had it. I’d buy an E65/E66.
@@PRNTestDrive there are many electronic components on this vehicle that can fail prematurely. And when they do fail the price to fix these components will drain your account due to the high labour costs. There are many repairs on this vehicle which should be minor on most cars, but on this vehicle require you to life the engine. Although I love the shape of this vehicle I'd recommend that unless you can fix cars yourself I'd stay far away from this car!!
Depends on where you live! Here in Ontario we primarily use sites like AutoTrader or Kijiji to search for car listings. Places like Ebay tend to have unique cars like the Alpinas come through as well.
Sergio Gamboa hey im in the same boat im an owner and it costs thats for damn sure just spent 1,050 for full struts online today actually, do most of the work myself, only take it in if i know i cant do it myself but its amazing man i love it still
PRN_TestDrive I found one around my way for about 6k. Got 170k on her. She looks good cosmetically but high mileage aplina, smells like a real head ache to me
This is a good looking BMW and is no doubt s good car but Brabus and other Mercedes tuners offer extensive warranties coverage no BMW tuners do that lol let me just say that
Good to know! At this age there's probably no company in the world that would offer a warranty on this Alpina, but the new vehicles are definitely a requirement, especially since most of them get driven hard.
BMW still offers smoking packages on their latest cars too, seems to be an option that some people still want/need. I can't remember the last car we've driven that actually had a cigarette lighter instead of just a cover for the outlet.
Perpetual Radio Networks hey speaking of "smoking", I'm thinking of buying a 7 series 750li but I here a lot about the smoke that comes out the tailpipe when the stem valves seals go out, should I worry about that in older models like 07,08 especially???
I wish I knew to be honest! We filmed this episode before we started researching common problems to include, but we're really hoping to be able to feature another E65/E66 down the road to get a better idea. My understanding is the 50i engines were more reliable than the 45i ones, but just like with any older BMW maintenance is certainly key. I know most people will say to avoid these completely, but we'd really like to pick one up.
Perpetual Radio Networks yea I feel you on that, I'm actually going to check one out this weekend. The guy says it's running good no issues and it's a 45i not to enthusiastic about the year tho, but I really want to have one. G35 is my true choice sedan that is. But who knows mabe yes mabe no on that 45i.
This was the very first episode we ever produced under the TestDrive show name. We would have loved to drive it, but at the time we didn’t have the capacity to do so with the equipment we had.

The concept for these videos was to go over the features and design traits for pre-2007 vehicles. We’ve since re-worked the format of our show to include more pertinent information on these cars, going over the specs, options, taking it for a road test, and finally discussing common problems to look out for.

I miss when the 7 series had the gear shifter behind the steering wheel like the S klasse and Rolls Royce models. It was way more classy
It's one of those design choices that people either absolutely hate, or absolutely love.

Isn't that a 5 series steering wheel?
Alpina probably used similar parts, but it is a genuine B7 steering wheel.

The lci e65 alpina looks so classic

+PRN yeah the pre lci e65 didn't do it for me the rear deck lid / taillights looked terrible with that little strip piece but with the refresh it made the whole car flow better,
Definitely. The front also had this weird look too it, but after the refresh it improved significantly.
