    I really, really love sign-offs that include tons of technical details, such as this one.

    It was very common at sign on-sign off that stations used both O Canada and the SSB when they had viewership in Canada. WTVS was not the only station that did it.

      What about CBC stations? Some of them obviously have viewership in the US, but they only signed on or off with O Canada.

    This guy reading off the technical information is the grown-up equivalent of your parents tucking you into bed and reading you a story that you fall asleep during. Something oddly satisfying and comforting.

    The technical maintenance portion of the sign off sounds like it was live. You can hear the mic switch just before Paul Winter speaks. Very rare to have an actual live booth announcer in the 1990s.

    There have been friendly relations between Detroit and Windsor for many years. With Canada Day on July 1 and Independence Day on July 4, it is usually a long riverfront celebration during the holidays, or at least it used to be, until Detroit was ruined.

    I noticed that this is very impersonal, unlike a BBC One or Two closedown. Why is this? The latter was very intimate and sometimes quite humorous.
    Also, why no play of the Royal Anthem of Canada?

    • @TimothyOnline
      @TimothyOnline 4 роки тому +3

      For whatever reason we pre-recorded nearly all of our sign-offs. The Royal Anthem is likely not played because this is a U.S. station, not a Canadian one.
