I need to know what it would mean for a fighter to win. Would they be happy?
the ufc is a big as it will ever be - it will always be a fringe sport. it’s violence and a lot of people will never like it.
I like the earlier time idea. Even here in Australia (main card starts either noon or 2pm, depending on daylight savings), I wouldn’t mind it starting 2-3 hours earlier
Lucas imposing his will on Dana!!
FROM PILLAR TO POST
Dana is gonna have to bite down on the mouthpiece and survive them big meaty hooks
When it comes to oiling up Dana, Lucas Tracy swears by non-seed-based oils. In fact, it's in his cook book under the recipe 'The Great White".
Up next: different ways Flukas Glazy can improve his fight picks
tip #1: Stop trying to be diff and pick more favorites
Tip #2 flip a coin for picks

This is one of the best ufc videos ever. This is every frustration I’ve had with the ufc. They really have gotten very complacent because the fan base has grown so much. They really do need to improve press conferences, improve the programming more than bringing some call of duty dlc shorts into the UFC❤
Feels like they need more soul in the promotion these days. It's becoming too sterile

You demonstrate that you don't understand business or the UFC at all. Dude improving fighter pay would solve like 90% of the problems lol..its gonna bring a better talent pool because money attracts talent, its gonna make fighters train regularly since they won't have to do side jobs to make a living. The quality of fights will increase tenfold and in turn will bring in more fans and revenue to the company. Besides in increasing fighter pay, UFC just has to be less greedy lol. They're paying 15% of the revenue to its athletes while other major sporting organization and even other MMA organizations like one and PFL pay their athletes 50%.
only negative is fighters wouldn't have to fight as much and might act like boxers being divas picking fights like a picky 5 year old with her food
@@hotelmoscow8665 None of that's gotta do with money. I mean every boxer does that. Even the ones who get paid pennies. It's more to do with the structure of the sport. Boxers don't really have an obligation to fight the best to win belts. It's not just Tyson Fury and Joshua refusing to fight contenders. Fighters you've never heard of and barely make 10k a fight do that too.
of course it's partly to do with money that's common sense who told you smaller fighters fight as infrequently as the top boxers that's bullshit old scholl guys would fight 30 times a year for pennies but back then we didn't know about CTE@@okay1775
PFL have an unsustainable financial model. It’s like when China came into football and started paying far above market rate for older European players just to have some name value in their league. Ended up throwing away billions and the league fell apart anyway.

i think they need a new pay model. i think that is holding ufc and mma as a whole back from being on the level of nba, nfl, nhl
It might be holding it back but its nice that it allows many people to watch for free
@@ultragear207 i think the opposite. i think ppv is preventing the sport from reaching a larger audience and making the sport less accessible
@@hellothere4431 thats what i said…. I agreed with you. I just said its nice to watch for free
They don’t sell out arenas/stadiums multiple times a week all over the country. They will never reach that level, they can’t.
I would love to see the equivalent of a UFC Minor league system. Guys making their debut fight or 2/coming off DWCS having their own biweekly lower level cards in the Apex. By doing this, you effectively replace the Apex fight night cards and are able to consolidate the interesting fighters into 1 good stadium fight night per month in addition to having 1 ppv per month like normal.
The apex cards are like this already. They’re the minor leagues with an interesting fight at the top so people tune in. This is where the fighter pay talk gets interesting too. Do minor leagues get paid the same as the dudes at the pinnacle? No way
Completely agree especially with the second point, I have a channel that got over 30k views on a bkfc video very quickly and it got taken down bc I used a few 5 second clips in there, very frustrating
That 2nd point you made about letting them use some footage is a very good one because I became a more hardcore fan than I used to be because of MMA UA-cam, now I'm not out here scouting prospects and catching every fight night card but I have not missed a single PPV since O'malley vs Yan and I keep up with prospects and the like from channels like you, Chael Sonnen, and even MMA on Point (although the harder core of a fan I become the more I realize the only good stuff they make are their top 10 videos).
Extremely greedy and short-sighted of the UFC to not take the free promotion of great content creators using their footage. The sport could be way more popular than it is if they allowed that. I think they will realize that soon and acquiesce.
You are totally right about the Fight times, its Like a slap in the Face for europeans having finally a PPV in Europe where you could be watching it live for once without fucking Up your sleep but then the Guy decides its better having the Fight at 3AM nonetheless, why even come to Europe then
You made good points brother all what you said it true especially the timing of the fights africa and europe fans are suffering with those stinkers late timings, i live in europe and i used to be a causal fan but in the last couple of years i gradually became a hardcore fan and i do believe that this sport has the potential to be one of the most popular sports in the world
I live in uk and work Saturday and Sunday. I watch the ppv and either sleep for 3 to 4 hours before work on Sunday or just go to a friend from works house and pull an all nighter before our Sunday shift
never seen a video with "no views" before. wild.
Living on the West side is definitely clutch when it comes to fight times
Imo start contracts should be 30/30 with a decent bonus for fighting at least 2 or 3 times a year or at least 25/25. Second contract should be 50/50. Won't hurt UFC's pockets at all. The current pay split is like 20-80 for fighters when the other big sports it's 50/50. These proposed changes lets new fighters train full time instead of working shifts at the local night club to pay for baby formula, which makes them higher level and further elevates the bottom-mid levels of the UFC, and even the higher levels of the UFC due to more athletes being inclined towards MMA due to the better pay.
Edit: these changes also would help bring American fighters back in the mix. We see Russians and Brazilians dominating because 10/10 is dog shit in America where everything is so expensive. And Dana def wants more Americans, given how hard they're pushing Bo who just had an embarrassing showing against a can
It's less than 20-80 lol. More like 15-85.
@@okay1775yeah the split is 13-87 apparently. Their investors brag how little the costs are
@@okay1775 the figure was like 17-83 actually. But I think I saw a more recent estimate that was 20-80 or 21-79.
The times starting is definitely a huge issue. I've been in Germany a few years and can't wait to go back to the US soon. I only watch the better cards because there's just no way I'm gonna stay up all night every weekend smh
Pyfer and Curtis took Dana to the dark room already. He is not listening to you lil bro.
"hey Dana, you don't understand, my career will be OVEEEEER if i keep fighting this late. not postponed, OVEEEEEEER."

I think once you’re in the top 10 of a division you should get custom fight shorts, it would be a little bonus for being on top of a division and it would be easy for casual fans to easily identify that the matchup they’re watching is of more significance
What’s it hurt anyways right? It’d just look cooler if anything to see different print designs rather than the same ones. Oh no! It might cost Reebok a couple extra dollars lol
Lucas Trying to get me 10 - 7d by Dana Next 🤣 Good video brother
😂 But fr if they gave you more leeway you’d be in the millions of subscribers by now
I live in Poland and for example, UFC 300 started at midnight and finished at around 7:30 a.m.
Based. They should show walkouts and corner cam for the PPV on demand. They don’t even have to get rid of the ads they can just show both. Why not?
Being from the uk I’m absolutely fuming at the ufc Manchester card start time. Main card starts at 3am here. That means the main event won’t be until 6/6.30am uk time. That’s practically the next day people will be getting up at that time. A lot of the British fighters will not be happy at all with this I can promise you. It’s just weird. Uk main events usually go ahead at 10/11pm. Stupid decision
I've always thought it would be pretty cool if the UFC used artwork of fighters as picture advertisements for the next fight events.
The UFC should do what the NBA does for content creators like Flight reacts. The NBA will whitelist your channel (Allow use of clips while still monetized) if you regularly make content around their sport.
Heavily agree on the matchmaking section. To me it feels like there’s so many interesting or stylistic matchups in certain divisions that other people acknowledge as well that just aren’t even thought of like we’d rather watch the same people/styles fight over and over.
Tracy Lucas Aspergers going full blown giving financial advice to the UFC lol 😅

The nba allows their fans to use their content freely and it has allowed them to dominate social media. UFC needs to take note!

I live in Italy and I fell asleep during sterling vs kattar. But my brain knew that it had to wake up so I woke up when max Holloway fight was starting. But yeah the time is crazy . Most of the times I skip the prelim and wake up when the main card starts ( 4 am)
UFC ppv main events should be starting no later than midnight!
I stopped watching UFC when I moved to the east coast, and I started watching again when I moved back to Cali
I’m from England and even though most of my friends like MMA and would like to watch, they just can’t be arsed staying up till 6am to watch it. Staying up is such a struggle. I remember I fell asleep just before Whittaker vs du plessis and missed that fight and Volk vs Yair. Won’t become really popular in the UK unless they start the events earlier
moving to the west coast for better ufc card times is amazing
I literally agree with almost every point ,great video
Earlier start times is a fucking top tier take 🙌 i haven't ever agreed with you more. I still remember falling asleep during the Yair Rodriguez vs TKZ card a few years ago. I fell asleep during the cowboy fight and missed the spectacular finish. I was livid. Still haven't got over it...
U r right bro,..we here in the uk have to stay up till 6 in the morning to see the main event
SO TRUE! I live in Europe and I will frequently miss ppv events that have less interesting cards like ufc 301. I think the reason they ignore Europe is because they have TV deals here instead of PPV. They probably earn less on a per capita basis in Europe than in America but would definitely bring in a larger crowd if they started earlier, the only Europeans that watch ufc are hardcore fans because of how late it starts
That's exactly right. Dana has even admitted in interviews that even though 10% of the total UFC audience is in the US, the US fans comprise of 90% of total revenue. If any demographic contributes 90% towards your total revenue, you cater to them above all others. Business 101.
I don’t understand why the cards start so late.
1) Potential fans aren’t gonna give it a chance if they have to gamble their night for something they might not enjoy.
2) Casuals who are on the fence about buying the PPV might not because it goes on too late.
3) Most people I know don’t even watch the prelims, so I don’t get why those are on at prime time.
4) I know this doesn’t apply to most people, but I go to church in the morning and I hate only getting three hours of sleep. That could go for anybody who has Sunday morning plans.
First point is awesome thanks for mentioning it as an american lucas because we europeans get absolutely fucked over by those cardtimes
As a European i never watch cards live and never will unless they fix these times.
I only watch the european, arab, asian cards live. Other cards i just rewatch the full fight
Love your takes! Very ingenuitive and thoughtful
Should cover a segment on the best fighters in the UFC when they enter that “flow state”
you say that,us in south africa have the prelims start at 1 am and the main card start 5 am every card
I personally love early fight nights! Like when they start at noon i fucking love that! Great video Flukas! Seriously great points
Great video!!
If the ufc had like a scouting system where they have scouts recruiting young fightere from all over the world and pay them better it would improve the sport tremendously, for example a fighter like ilia topuria can single handedly get a whole country like spain hooked to ufc
People like to see fighters from their country fight and im sure their is a lot of underdog great young fighters all over the world and the ufc need to put more effort to scout and recruit them
Great fighters from different countries will promote the sport all over the world
Banger Video Mr Glazy
UFC fans missed Jiri's walkout but the wrestling community got to enjoy Bo Nickal's 😤
Lucas is un-ironically crazy smart. UFC should hire him no cap
If Lucas ran the UFC he would immediately invent the BMH Belt (Big Meaty Hooks Belt)
I think they need to make PPV's feel more special overall...you know the difference in level of production when watching a WWE PPV compared to a non PPV event...but in the UFC it tends to feel the same...
I think the fighter pay thing is valid but I feel like the best way to do that is to allow fighters to have sponsors. That way the fighters know their worth and will get paid what they bring in.
They should work with or cut a deal with some of these content creators like mixed martial academics. These guys who are making 2 hour documentaries on their fighters are doing a better job at promoting their fighters.
Also until they pay their fighers more heavyweight, lightheavyweight, and women's bantamweight will always be garbage. The most atheltic women are in gymnastics. If you want to save these divisions you gotta incentivize better athletes to choose your sport over any other.
Dana needs to hire this guy
Honestly when I clicked on this I was gonna clown you but your actually right
love the videos Lucas
I completely agree about the cards being to late. It's so annoying and no one talks about it lol. Like u said we've made a habit of doing it every week but the casual fan will just watch the next morning.
Ufc undervalues content creators and the value they add I agree. I think their plight against ariel helwani is the best example.
I think for fighter pay, make an automatic finish bonus. It’s a win win.Fighters get more pay and UFC gets more exciting fights.

I live in Brazil and here the main event start 10/9am, i watch all the prelims and then will sleep kkk on the other day i don’t see nothing in the news to finish the main event.
I wanna see Dana’s rebuttals to every point. Curious to hear the big boss man give his side in his red faced matter-of-fact style. Either way I agree with just about everything Lucas said
Id argue shorts going viral bring in more fans, everyones addicted to shorts now
Really good video idea
As a UK fan US starting times is crazy, we don’t get cards here often and even though now we have one I still need to stay up until 3am, WTF man
Best MMA content creator in the game!
Lucas was spot on i imagine dana white walking by him saying" whats up kid, good kid yeah"
Uk fan here, stayed up for UFC 300, first time staying up for an entire card. Staying up from 11pm to 6:30 in the morning was absolutely soul-sucking, me n my cousin ended up sleep through zhang vs yan and nearly missed the main event. This 304 timing is BS!
Add a new clothing brand as well. I know they signed with Venum not to long ago but on their website paying 70-80 dollars without tax is ridiculous. Not sure how the payout would be and nice to finally get custom shorts as well, but imagine Nike, Adidas or even Puma giving fighters deals.
In Australia we are so lucky, we get to watch the fights Sunday afternoon between 12pm-5pm. The Abu Dhabi cards are on at like 4am though

Lucas always bringing back them good old 90's memories, when my teacher used the first PowerPoint ever invented
Incentivize champions to stay active. If champs turn around within 6 months - BOOM 15% on top. Make it 25% if it’s within 4months. That wouldn’t be too much to where it bankrupts the ufc but would make champs think twice before staying out for 8,9 months
The earlier fight card start is valid because I slept through Haney Garcia
I do 100 percent agree on time when I went to ufc in Atlantic City I think prelims started around 6, me and my gf were there from 6 to like 11 I think we were so tired we couldn’t stay to watch the co main or main with us having to drive home 2 hours, if it started a hour or 2 earlier I feel it would be so much better like 4-11 with Main event would be great almost 2am is to fucking late
I moved from Georgia to Alabama and the time difference is definitely a lot better. Especially when you go to church the next morning.
The whole situation with the Manchester card is acc stupid planning on going in person and this is rly making me question it

Totally agree about how the reports should ask better questions 💯💯
They really should allow content creators the ability to use UFC footage in small bits and pieces cause it would benefit the UFC as a whole with all the exposure they'd be getting. UA-cam needs to improve their copyright system. How they implement it (give creators the ability to remove segments of their videos without YT fully taking it down over :20 seconds of some stupid footage that's usually covered by fair use yet they remove entire projects over nonsense!) It shouldn't be like this. If YT could support informative content, even if it covers difficult topics. I feel like YT would have zero competition. Fair use should cover quality made, informative, narrated, highly custom edited content. That literally what fair use covers. Yet YT acts like it can Fully take down a 1hr 30min documentary due to a 10 second clip!? YT needs to realize they would be NOTHING without creators like you making quality content like this.. Yet they decide they want to run things like they expect everything to be kids content, or like it's okay their copyright system is outta control to the point it's not following fair use. I don't understand how UA-cam doesn't see the huge fan base around content for grown ups? If they supported things a bit better, they would have so much more success. Hopefully they wake up to this someday. They act like sponsors wouldn't support UA-cam if UA-cam allowed quality content covering difficult topics? They need to support content like this. It's fully covered under fair use yet copyright claims get abused like crazy as well as demonetized content even tho UA-cam still runs ads on those videos so it's just UA-cam taking all the $ and acting like they can't support the creators who are the sole reason why their platform has value and popularity in the first place! If UA-cam was smart and supported quality content for adults and not just children, they could genuinely be an unstoppable platform. That no other platform would even come close to competing with them. Yet they stand their ground. Their very uptight ridiculous ground lol
