First, yes, fabulous exercise in pallette because I think I "know" the outcome and was pleasantly surprised with being wrong. Also, by swatching pallette colors, it can help with using colors in other crafts, besides painting. I do yarn crafting with crochet & knit, and it's important to understand why/how the colors play with each other. BTW, love your personality and the way you teach and talk. Thank you for what you do!!
I don't think you are capable of making a boring video. I loved this video, thanks for teaching us an easy way to mix colors!!! Cant wait to play around with this method.
Honestly, even if you were teaching us the most boring subject in the world…I’d be here for it! I love your personality and humor and I love watching any video you make. Now I want to go paint 🎨
I love this instruction. Creating cohesive color palettes is a new concept to me. Following this demonstration, I created five color palettes that I love. I'm going to keep making them. Each one sparks a new idea for how I can use it in a project.
I loved this exercise. I was feeling so sad because my daughter and 10-year-old grandson are moving away, but got so absorbed in color mixing that I forgot about it for a little while! Thank you for the happy respite.🥰
Not boring at ALL! I’m not an artist but I wanna be 😂. I loved watching this. All your videos make me think maybe I could paint something (besides walls).
It’s beautiful and no, it was not too much. I watched a somewhat similar (but not as fun!) video with a mother colour and this makes so much sense to me. It’s the perfect way to create colour harmony on the page. I’m a bit like you, in that I’m not sciencey, but you did a great job of making my brain . Thank you!
Hi Andrea! I echo so many of these comments❣️. I so appreciate your teaching style = informative, useful, creative & fun. I love colors....could have watched "just one more" more!😊
I've been struggling with water colours, and this video FINALLY managed to show me how to go about mixing and creating pallettes. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Also: not boring at all 🤩
Just keep going is what I keep saying as I watch...lol :) As an English teacher, I've been pushing the arts in my district for almost 10 years now. As a rural county, we have very little money for the "extras", so the arts often get lost. I am in NO way an artist, but I do have an enrichment class where I have a combo of 9th - 12th graders and we do a lot of visual arts. We love your videos! So many great ideas that help me teach them art skills with my limited art training . And yes, you need to make something with one of those; start with your fave :)
Excellent! Very interesting. I’m going to try this. You can put your base colors again next to the lower row. That would be consistent. I’m going to try this.
I remember in college I had to do an entire stack of these exercises but in acrylic, one for each base color. We mixed with each color of the assigned palette and then four variants each with black and white to fill out the grid. It was a semester-long project and I was so sick of it at the time! Still, it makes an excellent reference and I still have them in a binder L O L
I would’ve loved to see Potter’s Pink and Quinacridone Magenta… maybe next… totally enjoyed watching you mix these colors. My faves were yellow ochre and yellow… Thank you!🎉💜😍👍🏾🤩
This was a lot of fun for me, too. I’m in love with color and fascinated by the sometimes-unexpected results one gets from combining them. But even if I weren’t, I love watching you have fun-your joy is infectious. 🎉
Now i want to do some swatching with some fun shapes! This was super fun and satisfying to watch. So glad you filled the page instead of stopping! Thank you!
This video was really fun to watch. I wasn't home where my paints were, so all i could do first was to watch. Once I got home, I rewarched and followed along in my sketchbook. It's great to see all the different mixes, especially when i need a certain color, I can refer back to the chart we made. I love it! Thanks for doing this, Andrea!! ❤
Actualy quite refreshing! Its nice that you do consider us ( even if we can't answer) one of your gifts is making it look simple and attainable for each one of us! Thanks
Yes! Please make something fun and share it with us. We want to do fun! Thank you so much. Although I think you’re moving so maybe post it after your all settled in.
I had so much fun watching you today. I’m struggling today with long covid pain in back and depression. So you allowed me to put my anxiety on a shelf for 15 minutes and have fun. And the palettes were fun. I think you should do the shipwreck lol💙
I love that you tried so many combinations! It was fun to see all the different outcomes. It gave me inspiration to do the same thing. I've just recently started mixing more colors together, but I haven't watched them so I have a reference as to what the color combinations look like. Now I know what I'll be doing today! Thank you! I can't wait to see what my paints can do! ❤
First, that was the most fascinating and relaxing exercise in color. Truly delightful! Second, what a low stress yet highly rewarding watercolor adventure! It's a bit like alchemy art. Lastly, PLEASE do some art pieces with those coordinating palettes, especially the Lake Green collection and the Indigo. And the Paynes Grey. Okay, and the Ultramarine, please. (and the Fuchsia) WONDERFUL video!!! Thank you.
This was not boring at all. I love your videos so much!
Any time you are excited, you make me excited as well! lol, very informative! Thank you
I had no confidence until you came along. I have learned watercolor from you only. Your personality makes me feel like whatever I do is okay. Thanks

I loved this. I swatch my new paints, but I never thought to swatch mixes!
I loved this exercise. I was feeling so sad because my daughter and 10-year-old grandson are moving away, but got so absorbed in color mixing that I forgot about it for a little while! Thank you for the happy respite.🥰

Same! It's all I can think about now 😂
Lol, I was expecting this to be boring-ish, but your personality just makes my heart happy 😊
Love, love, love your longer videos!! Thank you for this inspiration 💜
I'd love to see a painting with any of the last 4 pallets. I love all your videos, shorts, or longer. I love that you continued to experiment!
Thank you, this the swatches were so fun to watch❤
Wow -- so much more fun and helpful than massive demonstrations of an entire matrix -- thanks!
Im a nerd for color theory and swatching, so this is a win-win!
Yes I can see the mermaid colors being your favorite 😉

Hi Andrea! I echo so many of these comments❣️. I so appreciate your teaching style = informative, useful, creative & fun. I love colors....could have watched "just one more" more!😊
As a novice watercolorist, my biggest problem has been in coming up with the exact colors I envision..So, this tutorial has been incredibly helpful.
