Thank you so much. Few understand what an amazing service you have given us. The scope and depth are unparalleled. Without this, many years of fruitless seeking. Already aware of those like Ramana, Nisargadata, Robert Adams, and many others...Your work here, of comparative teachings, utterly profound in nature....opened a very profound door in me. Clear and certain. No words to thank you. What blessing.
Annamalai Swami and Sri Ramana are one; Sri Ramana himself said that a few times to Annamalai Swami before he told him, not to come and see him anymore. David Godman's book on Annamalai Swami is wonderful! So is your work here! Thank you Samaneri!!
I know your heard this many times but I want to say it too. I appreciate you and I thank you from the bottom of my being for putting these teachings out. Thank you a million times over.
Thanks for this series on Guru Annamalai , please continue this 🙏🙏 today false mind and thoughts totally vanished and mind silent and calm in teachings of Swami ji and in your voice🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Dhanyawad
Recently I understood it’s not me it’s my mind who has anxiety and depression for years and that is big relief. Who knows one day I may realize even the mind does not exist.
The soul of this inner teaching tells me that we are not real. We are reality. There's not even "we". It's just "I". Only not in the way we think. Not in a way that can be thought.
I'm still blown away that you know of Annamali Swami. You are my best source for the technique of self enquiry. I love Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi. I see him in my meditation. To me he is Sri Krishna of the Gita. His image helps purify my mind as I steadily push it back to the self. To whom did that thought arise? To me. Who am I?
I also do the inquire, but I struggle in the steps. After seeing Annamalai tweak the masters method in the last reading. This came to me, just say ‘who said that’ there is no I or me or you involved for me. It’s so simple. When I say ‘who said that’ I go to emptiness where there is nothing=nobody Like to know if it works for you also.
"Self-inquiry must be done continuously". This is an obvious point and inevitably where I am headed. It's funny though looking across the river to that point. It looks insurmountable though it is clear that once there it will be natural and effortless. And the side of the river wrought with effort and strain will clearly be seen to be this side. Getting from here to there should be interesting.
As a mentor for precise and proper practice of meditation and a razor-sharp scalpel of Viveka in the separation of Maya from Sat Cit Ananda, Annamalai Swami’s Words are precious and invaluable! He is like the Jewel in the Forehead in The Vivekacudamani...Sublime and often lost in plain sight, until by constant Sadhana The Jewel of The Self if finally found! 💎
Wortheist mother Sammaneri ,May u live for many ,many years to benefit countless sentient beings .u r a Blue Lotus on this earth. Please bless me mother .U have become the object of my devotion.om mani padme Him.Thank u from the core of my heart
loving his teachings bringing awareness to that which other sages have not addressed. enlightening. and to add further understandings to bhagwans teachings. thankyou samaneri you are reaching many with great truths in your work. hope it never ends. keep these teachings of the advaita sages coming.
Fascinating. thankyou for the video on Annamalai Swami. Even if you convince yourself that there is no such physical being living above us who chooses one people over another, demands constant praise, makes innocent people needlessly suffer, and eternally punishes others for disobeying his arbitrary rules.” If you are brought up in an Abrahamic religion regardless of where or how little or how much of a "Man in the Sky" called God was stuffed into your brain. You will have trouble experiencing non-duality. You will have trouble experiencing "Brahman". It will take a lot more work than otherwise. You may consciously reject the "Ultimate Dictator" in the sky. But it's ingrained in your subconsciousness and this is what makes it difficult in your journey into non-duality. And this is why it takes months to experience "Brahman". The same can be said for the Vaisnavites of Hindu religion who believe there is a Vishnu out in the sky who is watching over his creation on earth..and will check you off for Heaven or Hell based on your deeds. Stay with the thought "Who am I" in your spare time. And keep rejecting the "Man in the Sky thought" and you will experience "Brahman" with a few months of practice. The short version to the above - Reject the God and you will find the "I". Just like you are rejecting the Ego. The external God that you believe in and practice "Bhakti" is as false as the Ego that springs into action and grabs on to form. "WHO AM I" thought needs to destroy the ego and god at the same time.
So helpful for me to keep listening to this. “You can fall back at any moment. You have to make a determined effort to remain at the peak when you first reach it. But eventually a time will come when you are fully established in the Self.... Until that moment comes, constant sadhana is required to break the spell of your illusions.” at around 15-17, 26-.
Dear Sheila, thank you for your suggestion and for introducing me to this wonderful mystic whom I was not aware of. I read through some of her marvellous poems and verses but they are so full of sanskrit and advaitic terms that I would not be able to pronounce properly and there are a number of advaitic terms that I am not familiar with either. So I feel that I would not be able to do this wonderful mystic justice and hope that someone else (an Indian Tamil native speaker) could record some of her works in English. I am sure they will at some stage. With all good wishes
Thanks I love all your videos - if everyone were a monk no married life is that Gods will? Why would man and woman have been created ? I also don’t understand the denial that the mind exists as opposed to understanding its complex nature...
Hi Lazer, good contemplations - thanks for sharing. Yes, I don't think everyone is supposed to be a monk or nun - one's karma will allow that to unfold as it is supposed to. And in terms of the existence of the mind - or Not. Really it's a matter of recognising that it is apparent but without truly existing as a thing, entity or material substance in itself. It is, yet it isn't - and yet it's complex and incredible nature is evident for all to know. But what to grasp of it when it is not truly there. Amazing huh?!
Samaneri Jayasara God bless you thank you- I think it’s obvious that we have control of many things and not just in the hands of karma and we can change that and it’s our free choice decision to bring new life into the world and to let a spouse help fix us or not - we aren’t predestined to have to be in jail or a monk or a drunk ... We may feel that we are being led to what our true purpose is in the world and yet that is the ultimate prayer what is my personal true purpose...The greatest creation of the Self/God/Higher Consciousness seems to be the mind with its ability to be in the selfs image with free choice and to express the beauty of the infinite self which cannot be defined through art music poetry scripture silence and it must participate in all that yet just because we cannot see it we must celebrate it and praise the Self/God for its creation and not try and say there’s really nothing there in my humble opinion ...I think something got lost along the way between the East’s desire to say there’s no mind and the West’s desire to think it can all be accomplished purely with the mind...I think it is the most glorious and dangerous tool that the Creator has granted man and the only thing that defines man from angel or animal and that is the free choice of mind so we should just speak of it understanding the glorious highest of where it can lead us such as the Buddha who used his mind to achieve his wisdom and to free himself from fear and desire and Sri Ramana Maharshi and Dogen and the other greats whom acknowledged the glory of the Self which we are and the greatest joy which is to surrender ones free choice of mind over to that Self yet they did that using the huge antaena which we are saying is mind ...
Hi Kamal, well Mooji is still very much alive and speaking for himself. He also has a massive UA-cam channel where you can tune into him if you like! All the best
To his first point: the more you try to lock down the nature of the mind with any specificity....the more you will find yourself going in circles. Like chasing a shadow LOL!
Yes, and also investigation into the nature of that Being itself. Not so much an intellectual enquiry - although it might start out that way - but more an enquiry that comes from the basis of a quiet minds that looks and sees. Hope that makes sense or at least come to at some point in your meditation practice.
Simply put, self-enquiry is about focusing our awareness on our awareness in any given moment. The question "Who/What am I?" is designed to direct our awareness back to the source.

Thanks for the clarity on waking up from the illusion of the mind which results in self deception and should be recognised as the false tiger.
