I just discovered Blick's while my sculptor son was visiting for Thanksgiving. When I saw the spray can display,, I was in awe.

Thanks so much for explaining in detail - really appreciated. Regarding poster board, I'm in New Zealand and I think the same thing here is called Formacote? That's what I've been using and it does the trick. Comes in a variety of thicknesses.

I love your videos! As someone who uses mostly watercolor, I do certainly enjoy using spray paint. I’ve found with every product that Cheap Joes Art Stuff has the best prices. Over any other store. I have run into Blick from time to time but for what I need/use Cheap Joes prices are amazing

Nice to see you again. UA-cam's algorithm, life, work, and the weather had prevented me from watching youtube and paint for a short while. Hope all is well on your end?
I will say i am lucky enough to have a Blick in the closest major cities for me but its not worth ne driving there if I'm not going to be spending nore than X amount of dollars. Its nearly a hour drive, the city is packed with 1 way streets in the area, and the place has not parking lots except for a pay one. With the time, effort, drive, parking, gas, etc. I find it less of a headache and cheaper to just order from their web store if i spend less than so nuch mobey.

❤ Thank you so much! ❤ I'm way past the part about whats needed for this art form, but I wish I had this video when I was getting started.
p.s. the landing of the thrown paper was hilarious, should have finished the video oblivious to it hahaha.

Hello I've learned so much from just watching you. Your spray paint are amazing I don't have Tik-Tok but I do get a chance to look at you on UA-cam and I do your classes my question is do you spray paint the clear coat as soon as you finish the painting or do you wait and if so how long do you have to wait and there are so many clear coats which one is good is one better than the other

You can get free magazines at the grocery store. They usually have them at the entrance.

Sometimes if your local library has magazines subscription they usually give away, throw away, or recycle the old magazines after they sit in for a while.

Just so you know, priming canvas is probably the easiest thing ever you grab yourself some gesso from the art store or Amazon and a paintbrush, and you literally just painted on the entire canvas may be at least probably two layers to make sure the whole canvas is covered but it dry and you’re done and then Maxines or whatever you’re trying to do slide right off the canvas just like they would be posterboard

Card stock what cards are made from think greeting cards. Priming canvas just use gesso.

Also… It’s rough when you’re painting indoors, a shed or a garage something like that and you only have a window open or something, there’s nothing like getting done painting going to blow your nose and it looks like a fucking rainbow

Prime a canvas: 2 coats of Killz2. Or gesso.

Great videos! Question- I’ve started to use canvas more and I buy the same ones from Hobby Lobby as well. But the last few paintings I’ve done seem to be more dull. Have you noticed that happening at all? I do typically hit them with clear gloss at the end which helps make it pop but just curious. O, and I am fortunate to live by a Blick Art supply store! Transitioned to using MTN 94 & Ironlak paints and they have the MTN cans at great prices indeed!

I think I might've had that problem. Wasn't sure what it was so I hit it with the gloss and moved on. Hopefully it doesn't become more common

we are going to strongly disagree about the impact the paint you choose has on your artwork and while i agree that you can create nice art with any paint, because of the superior quality of the chemistry and the much more refined valving on the professional artist brand paints like hardcore and the montana's, to name a couple, paintings done with those kinds of paints are going to turn out better easier for the beginner. Something else that i feel your students need to be made aware of is, while it's true that anybody can do it, i have watched you paint probably way more intently than i should have, we're talking watching some of your fast forward videos multiple times in slow motion and you my dear have a natural ability and feel for spraying that most others aren't going to have so what's nonchalant and easy for you can be hard and frustrating for others who are trying to do what you do. Everything is always easy for the great but for the average it can take a lot of work......

    • @AmethystVazquez1
      @AmethystVazquez1  8 місяців тому +2

That's because I've been doing it for almost 9 years. Everyone's handling will get better with every painting they do. I can agree that's the paint looks a bit different between every brand, I don't think it's something to stress over, especially for beginners. Even then the way the color looks is personal preference as well. Some will like gloss, some will like flat, some will like matte.

I appreciate your style of teaching so much, and was drawn into the above comment, mostly because I agree with your reply, and as a former elementary art teacher, can't stress loudly enough that art can be learned by anyone- and it requires much practice! When someone says they have watched something multiple times and struggle to master a media, I wonder how many times did they PRACTICE the media???
Keep encouraging through your skill and platform- you are spot on in your approach that everyone can do it... because they can! A side note- if you enjoy the brain connections that art creates take a peek into "Your Brain on Art" How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross.
PS I am doing a deep dive on Spray Paint Galaxy Art bc my 13 yr grandson wants to learn how and asked me to help... I am a new fan! Thanks for your generous teaching@@AmethystVazquez1
