- Kumagaya was the first town we lived in when we moved to Japan and it holds a special place in our hearts as our Japanese hometown. Here's a video where we went back together for the first time in 11 years!

Here's my guess from yesterdays live stream. The restroom you were unsure about (I think) knows you're in there by how the buttons are used. If you hit the button from the outside then walk away it'll close without locking. If you hit the button go in and hit close THEN it knows you're in there and will not reopen until you intentionally hit the button to open the door. That's my guess anyway.
Nao would definitely be one of my favourites too because she doesn't have freaky purikura eyes...
@@nobreyner60 haha yea, I think you are right. I came across a second similar bathroom system towards the end of the stream yesterday. I still think I personally want to see a physical lock a computer does not have any control over in any way in a bathroom. I can't poop with anxiety of what happens if the computer messes up lol. -E
Wow. I've been following you guys since 2013. This is so nostalgic!!!!
I love this nostalgic visit. You two are truly two sweet and thoughtful people. Thank you ❤
I would have been SO disappointed without that Yayoiken reference in there. It was how I found you guys back in the day.
One of my favorite K&E videos. A beautiful, nostalgic take on Kumagaya, many years in the making!
Dame! I’ve been subscribed to your channel for this long. I remember watching you guys talking about moving to Japan, you guys weren’t even married yet. Makes me feel old.
haha thanks for being with us so long!
When you said that you were going to be going back to Kumagaya in the last video I was super excited to see how things were now and if it changed much. Really cool to see the apartment, and school agian. Bet is was a blast going back through all of the memories. Any plans to revisit any other places?
No specific plans to go back to any specific places, there are too many new places to explore! Stupid big world being too big.
My first time seeing your videos I got a question what made you moved and if you still living in Japan I am super excited to visit Japan any time soon since my mother in law is Japanese my kids can get dual citizen
@@msvideotime We moved here on a whim in 2011. If you get a chance to visit you should, it's great!
Do be aware though, generally speaking Japan does not have a program for dual citizenship. Even people here born to a one Japanese parent and a parent from another country can't hold more than one passport past age 20, legally speaking. They are forced to choose when they become adults. -E
I miss your videos. I'm always happy when you post. Love to see you both!🥰❤
We haven't ever stopped posting, haha! -E
@@kydeanderic Yes, but I would love to see a video every week. 😅 What can I say, I enjoy your banter. You two are the best!❤
the OG japan travel vloggers, cant help but stopping by to comment every time your videos pop up.
This was so incredible to watch, it's so funny that it was so full of nostalgia for me too. I've been watching since the Kumagaya times and I distinctly remember watching all the round the world trip and then catching up to your new life in Japan 🥺 and here we are over a decade later and your videos are still one of my favourite things to watch. I'm so thankful for you both and sharing this journey with us 💕
thanks for joining us! -E
This one is a tear jerker. So very good ❤
Almost fourteen years in Japan - what a great discussion of changes to the area and memories!
Thank you again! Glad you dug this one! -E
Back to where it all started!
Crazy how nostalgia-evoking this was, still remember a lot of these places / anecdotes. Found your channel back in 2011 while I was in the third grade, now I’m in my third year of uni. Your videos have been a comfort watch for the majority of my life now. Props for still pumping out quality content all these years later!
This was so nostalgic even just as viewer, I remembered the girlie wall and as soon as you said you were going somewhere later for dinner it would be there - really sweet episode! :)
I remember being a brand new high schooler in like 2012 watching yall stumble around Japan 😭 what a journey ♥️
I absolutely love watching your older videos from time to time I dig through that memory vault and watch them again.
I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time and I never remotely appreciated how difficult it must’ve been to move to the other side of the world with only what you could fit in a suitcase or two. It’s pretty amazing. You guys have built a rather nice life for yourself it seems. 😊
this is super heartwarming to watch. my wife and i are trying to get our first jobs in japan so seeing this is giving me hope for our future. also if you have any tips for getting started here please i would love to hear them. going from texas to kansas all the way to japan is giving me crazy whiplash
haha, i think what I'd tell people thinking of moving here is to make sure your expectations are in the right place. Japan won't solve all your problems, and it will come with new ones. It's not perfect, but you can make it a nice experience. Some people move here and expect it to be a huge positive change and when it's not what they had hoped it crushes them hard, try to avoid that. -E
Where has the time gone 😮 ❤ 🐓🐣🦒 still feeding the algorithm for you both
Oh wow! Thank you for going back to your old stomping grounds! The first video I watched was when you arrived in Japan and I've watched ever since. Sounds like you enjoyed the memories.
What a lovely reunion trip!!!D
Always good to get out of your comfort zone, seek adventure and strike out on a new path in life. This young couple is brave and curious to see life anew. Good luck and fortune!
Man I’ve been waiting you guys for a long time. Glad your still around
Yoooo Hidemon!! This whole video is filled with memories this is awesome back when I first watched this I was fresh out of high school and I could barely speak Japanese and now I’m turning 30 in the spring my Japanese is nearly N3 level and I still get to watch you guys. Hopefully this year I’ll meet my goal of being able to join the postcard club!
Awesome, congrats on the Japanese progress! It's a lot of work. Glad you have been enjoying the videos for so many years, it's fun to have a little "memory road" video for the old heads around here. -E
Yay... Hideman. I was hoping you'd get to visit it. It reminds me a little of the place my friends hung out at, in that it was quirky and not your typical place. I appreciate restaurants that do their own thing.
Eric lol, "safe answer" Sombra lol boop. Loved this vid guys was awesome reminiscing just started watching the whole adventures in Japan again from the start but with the missis as she has now come over to the Japan side :D Damn iv'e been subscribed to this channel for silly years lol.
I'm happy you guys went back 🥹🙌, till this day I still watch your older videos
This was really cute. With a lovely surprise at the end!
Good job with the Mellon Collie.
haha it's a work in progress.
We remember all of it, guys. ( a longtime fan here)😊
Late to watch this, but was that The Cure you played on that piano in the end?
Haha, Smashing Pumpkins...sort of. -E
Great video. Quite a journey you guys had 😊😊
This is amazing! So nostalgic. 💚💚💚
That was the very first video I ever watch of You. I remember that you said your were getting the internet from that little park.
love your videos :) i always wanted to travel to Japan. Such a beautiful country
I'm so tempted to do this with my own Japanese hometown! I lived in Iwaki, Fukushima back in 2016 for a few years and this kind of video would be a great idea to go back and visit some of my favorite haunts. I went back for a visit in 2023 but I didn't really spend too long exploring all my old favorite places because it was rather boring by myself. But if I were making a video it would be fun! Also I'm officially getting into geocaching because of K&E. xD
I think the first video I ever saw of you two was the time you moved from the place where you marked out on the floor how big each moving van was. I'm pretty sure that was when you moved from that place where you showed the window in this video.
Yea, that was *probably* when we moved from Kumagaya to Musashi-Urawa.
Was there anything on the Starbucks card???
Great wee video, very nostalgic 😊
I remember watching that 1st video!
You guys sound like an old Japanese couple: "things changed... I hate it."
Keep practicing piano, you're doing great!
I feel like at 13:29 this was a taste of home for Kyde.
Wow, what a trip down Memory Lane! I didn't really twitch on the fact before that the Emma from the early days was the Swedish Tommy and Emma.
The Enya blasting in the mascot store was a vibe.
lol
Great video! I would be spend way too many nights at that fabulous restaurant if I lived there! Perhaps staying away from the clams though…
Haha, we ate there often.
Thanks!
Eric is the producer and Kyde is the director of this episode if the opening is any sign.
haha, that's sometimes how it works.
You didn't get apples after hidemon? Now that's a change.
shrinkflation!
@@kydeanderic nah you got scammed. Hidemon has lost their way :(
Salt with the cedar box and sake? That's new to me.
its goooooood
Kyde loves her hometown!
懐かしい!
Again a nice video but i hope in the near future a new train station hop on hope off video coming out? Like the yamanote line or the a new tram video?
Yea, we want to do another streetcar video in Tokyo!
thanks Kyde an Eric
Wow, that first clip from 2011 was like two children playing with a home-made potato cam, like watching the first video ever on youtube... damn does time fly.... (Also, Eric, I would've been mad smooth and told Kyde my wall-of-girls choice is a secret and then later on, at an appropriate moment, would've said something like "My real choice was the girl I married..." but also you guys probably have an amazing relationship that doesn't need such shenanigans and faux-suave posturing.... so I'm just making stuff up for myself...)
she'd just roll her eyes at me lol
懐かしい!
Very cool video! Sweet geocache!
You know we all want to know what Eric's unsafe answer was, right?
birdo
What about Mouser?@@kydeanderic
@@TheForsakenCouch that dude with the bombs from SMB2? He's kinda hot.
@@kydeanderic it's the sunglasses... top tier villainry
The geo case was so nice.
Loved the Smashing Pumpkins outro!
Did you go see the old lady neighbor u used to tutor for?
No, we didn't have time for a social visit on that day unfortunately. -E
I found you guys from the 7-11 video from like 2013 lol
How about planning something entirely in Japanese soon? Cheers to you two🍻👍♥️
After casually checking in all these years I've come to two conclusions; 1. Eric gets sick whenever you travel outside Japan, and 2. Kyde farts a lot.
I seem to vaguely remember a parking rooftop geocache...
Wow! That's awesome. Park at the Internet.
I’m here for the Smashing Pumpkins
Why the hell is there tables?! That aint right.
haha yea it was a surprise.
I am so nostalgic for your early days in Japan!
I remember watching your channel when you still lived there! Now I'm an ALT living in Japan coming up on my 3rd year. Currently riding the JR line to work in Kawasaki! :D haven't regretted a moment since moving here even during the challenging times! I actually just moved from Kanagawa to Tokyo and I'm wondering if this is what it'll feel like to visit my Japanese hometown in a few years! Oddly watching this video has made me a bit nostalgic, felt like Kumagaya for a few minutes every week back then was my slice of Japanese life when I was still in American high school dreaming of Japan. Now I'm here partially thanks to you guys inspiring me! Looking forward to many more adventures!!
I have seen Japanese Christians, Japanese Jehovah's Witnesses, even Japanese Muslims, they are not common but there are some.
Yea, of course. But there is dramatically more that wear a cross as a fashion item, especially the types of people that would be working in a hostess club.
Eating the pregnant skrimp was disturbing
Shrimp? they look like Prawns
海老です。
Love the “ringo lady”. Compared to people in the USA, Japanese people are amazing, respectful and think about others. I long for the time that America will be great.
Ahh the nostalgia. Wonderful!
Because of Emma you guys eat what?! Subtitles never works well enough....
Fika!
..make sure to check the Swedish and not Italian meaning of that.
@kydeanderic Interesting. Google took me to the Swedish one without adding into the search. I thought you said something Japanese...but basically having tea time!
This was natsukashi. Also made me feel extra old and decrepit.
Kumagaya is sooo hot.
lol atsui!
you guys should probably have a plan for retirement. given the fertility trends, by the time you get old there will be such imbalance between the elderly and working age population that they would have to "shed the dead weight" in every way possible, and it would be extremely unlikely that they would be paying pension to any foreigners.
lol yea who knows. we are screwed.
やよい軒www
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks man!
