Patreon: / danielhiteshew Here's a look at my Chocolate Gourami in my 55 gallon planted tank. I also have Moonlight Gourami, Honey Gourami, Pearl Gourami, Clown Loaches, Angelfish, Catfish and more!
I have a 55 gallon tank with.... 2 honey gourami 2 moonlight gourami 1 Albino giant gourami (3 inches) 3 Albino Paradise Gourami 4 Red Paradise Gourami 2 Blue Paradise Gourami 1 Pearl gourami 1 Pearl short body Gourami 3 Gold Gourami 1 3 spot gourami 1 blue gourami 1 blue short body Gourami 1 Snakeskin Gourami 2 chocolate Gourami 2 kissing gourami All I need is the sparkling Gourami and Lavender Gourami.
when I had my 55G I had my striped Raphael cat and my Black Ghost Knife Fish together and they used to seclude themselves together in a cave I made from severalp pieces of slate. So if you ever move it to your BGKF tank they should get along well.
Did I mess up? I am about in the middle of the pack regarding level of care but I was picking up a Honey and it was sharing the tank with Chocolates so @ $6.50 ea for "Coco" I grabbed one. Spur of the moment may have been a mistake, my phone said peaceful temperament and since in the same take as the honey, well...no issues w/tankmates but fearful he could wipe out my tank if he gets sick - thoughts?
I wouldn't worry about it. They're very docile. Don't add a Dwarf Gourami (DG) or any variant of the 3 spot (gold, opaline, marbled, blue, etc...) as they are aggressive towards other gourami and will stress and kill the more docile chocolates and honey. (sounds yummy. lol)
Well, he made it through the night. My tank is tall so I have some driftwood and floating plants (plastic for now) and an Anacharis the honey was pecking at. And he was tucked away in the corner almost laying on the wood. The pearl I bought at the same time seems to be the most aggressive but even then, very mild. My 4” angel has inspected all new tank mates and doesn’t show any signs of aggression so all is at peace for the moment. Thoughts on Paring for any of the three types or should I stick with singles. Plenty of room left in the tank. Don’t want them to be lonely but also want to avoid aggression
@@KT-pw2in I don't think any of those would too aggressive if they paired off. If you want a larger gourami, the moonlights are fantastic and as docile as the Pearls.
Well..coco is dead..☹️ not too sure why. I did notice Pearl was picking at honey so she/he may have nipped at him as well. Something tells me honey he may also turn up dead. It has been eating and seems okay. There is the swimming back and forth by the glass thing coco was also doing while pearl just hangs out at the top and will chase the other gouramis off when they would get close. Maybe I just didn’t have enough cover.seems plenty of places to hide. I too thought honeys were bigger but guess with my larger angel (even though peaceful) perhaps a bigger gourami would be best.
@@1stdanclaire I had the one for several months. It died not long after I put the Moonlight in. I think it was too stressful for the Chocolate. I'd try again, but only keeping the Chocolates without other gouramis in the same tank.
And here I am too scared to get chocolate gourami,s thinking my Emperor Tetras will stress them out! 😁👍
Mine didn't live very long, so maybe you're not too far off.
Hes cool. I have a pair of honey gouramis. I like the way they move, how they effortlessly back up or change direction.
Chocolate Gouramis are a challenge to keep and have thrive, even for the advanced aquarist. Nice work!
Thanks!
It's a great little fish, I love how unfazed it seems by its larger cousins in the tank.
My chocolate lives with a betta and some guppies and mollies and tetras and he doesn’t mind one bit
@@acsone3546 I am still thinking about keeping some one day but in 2 years I still haven't freed up any tank space haha
If you ever get more chocolate gouramis get 4-6 of them.
Love chocolate groumies
Maybe pointing a small flashlight at it would reveal its colors on camera better.
Chocolate Gourami looks great, there are other types too, the Crossbar and the Samurai come to mind
I want a "Sparkling" gourami.

Always beautiful!
Chocolate fish looking good"gourami"
Try some of the smaller sized "Bug Bites". It might like those.
I have black neons in with my Striped Raphael. And they seem to coexist pretty good. I do think they are a bit bigger than the standard neon tetra.
They may sleep higher in the water column too.
Yeah that's what I was thinking
Almost as cute as Butter Bean 😆
Lol Almost.
He's a beautiful gourami. Thanks for showing us. Which was the fish eating your neons?
The Striped Raphael Catfish. It didn't make an appearance in this video.
Okay, thanks. Yes, my plecos also eat my fry. Thanks for responding.
Am I the only one who finds the chocolate gourami 'cute' hahaha
It's adorable!

@@KT-pw2in That's a bummer. I'm sorry to hear it.
Dan, what is the floating plant in your tank ?
That's Water Sprite. I have it for sale if you're interested. danielhiteshew@gmail.com
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly Thnks Dan, would be interested but you probably don't ship to the Maritimes in Canada.
@@cheryllong995 No, I can't. Sorry.
Why babu whale fish has a swim bladder issue any help I can do for it ??
Sometimes a salt bath will help, or try using meds like "general cure". Good luck.
Dan Hiteshew can't get general cure 😣 here in canada
Do you still have chocolate gourami? The same ones I mean? I've had mine for 1 month now it only eats shrimp.
No, unfortunately I don't.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly sorry mate how long did it last and will you try again?
