Unlike most people who sound off on filters and their quality, durability, or lack thereof, I actually make my living in the automotive parts and service industry (and no, not for Wix, Honeywell or any other individual company). I'll tell you firsthand, that when it comes to critical filtration, technicians and service providers agree that Wix is usually the benchmark brand. Of course there's better products out there, but what makes Wix special is that they set the bar for VALUE. No other product gives you more for your money, and the quality is always OEM or better. You can get a better oil filter for $14, or a worse one for $1.99, but unless you have all the extra time, money, and technical expertise to buy, test, and analyze every filter you can find for your 2005 F-150, stop over-thinking, buy a Wix, and get on with your life. -RT
choob Entirely depends on which model of Bosch filter you get, they too have several different models in their lineup. Their Distance Plus is definitely a great filter, but it's hard to find for under $10.
I work as a diesel mechanic, most employers choose less expensive filters made by Champion Labs based upon cost alone regardless of quality. Accounting is a major concern for any fleet and the product & change intervals are often determined by cost alone, not the needs of their equipment. Personally, I prefer to use quality products intended to keep the equipment operating with top efficiency over a longer service life. I shop at NAPA due to the quality vs cost for premium products.
I sure wish WIX could go back to having the same quality they were proud of 11 yrs ago. Since Mann & Hummel purchased them I've definitely seen the drop in quality and a cheapening of some of their oil and air filters.
Great video ! I enjoyed watching it and see the production. I use a WIX oil filter on my Corvette. Excellent filter ! Also happy to see it is made here in the USA in North Carolina. Keep us the great work my friends.
Excellent video of your plant facilities, employees, and processes. I have watched many comparison videos on UA-cam and your oil filters compare very well, it has given me much food for thought. I will buy Wix filter for my next oil change. Thank you for the great video. Very smart to make sure this video appears on this page of choices. Respectfully, Ed Vinkler
Wish you still made them with the threaded or upfront bypass. Did you switch because it is cheaper to have the bypass built into the dome end steel endcap? I for one would be willing to pay extra for a filter that had a threaded or upfront bypass (like Mopar or Motorcraft) that also had a great filter media. Maybe you should reconsider your decision Wix and Napa.
When will WIX and other oil filter manufactuers take a step in the direction of protecting thier customers??? We have no idea what the conditions was when these products were stored or shipped between the manufacturer and the place you buy the filter at. A plastic shrink wrap would make me feel more confident that the oil filter that i am buying isn't allready contaminated with moisture or some guys grimy dirty finger when he sticks it down in the filter when he opens it to look at it.
I tried a Wix filter for the first time in my Toyota Camry. I was not impressed, the plastic drain piece which snaps into the oil filter housing to empty it before removing broke, never had that happen with an OEM filter. Secondly, when replacing the O-ring (this uses a cartridge style oil filter) I noticed the O-ring was not smooth. If an O-ring is not smooth, it will very likely leak, so I was afraid to use it. I ended up re-using the original o-ring. Again never had these issues with OEM filters. Going back to OEM.

A lot of media/you tube tests and buzz about these very high priced signature Royal purple, Amsoil etc. etc. filters. Don't waste your money as they won't make your engine last longer or run better. WIX is a good choice, and all you need. I will say though that Baldwin is by far the most common filter on commercial engines. (I always look) Both are good choices. I've been using NAPA Gold (Wix) for many years.
When Wix Ships an oil Filter in a Cardboard box, i'd like to see the Filter either wrapped in plastic or in a plastic bag. Once upon a time i think they did. But i dont think they do that in the card board boxes, i could be wrong.
When I purchased a Napa Gold oil filters (made by Wix) in the past, there was an option to have cardboard or plastic wrap (aka 'Master Pack) packaging. I'm not sure if Wix offers plastic packaging, though.
Why can you not produce all of your products here in the USA , and like China export them to foreign markets. Seems it would be less costly and you can hire more Americans. But I understand , cheap labor boosts company earnings so the American worker can go scratch.
I have a batch of air filters #46449 that do not fit correctly in their housings, being slightly longer by approximately .125 inches than OEM as well as a tighter fit. I noticed this while installing one today, hard to clamp the end cap on. Took it apart making sure there wasn't any dirt or debris causing the problem. Since I've been using the WIX brand for the last 7-8 years there's obviously something different so I've decided to purchase the original Briggs filter my local distributor. Sorry Wix

Yeah well your fuel filters for the Cummins 6.7 engine do not meet OEM specific design specs for filtered fuel directional flow and use of them will void manufactures warranty fuel system failures.
What many videos do not show is how Motorcraft Filters are one of only few companies using a thread end bypass, Wix, Napa, and Royal Purple all had outstanding design and when they got bought out, the designs changed and in my opinion they are a cheap design. No longer made with highest quality. Royal Purple Filters, Napa Gold and Wix have all changed from a nice steel base plate with thread end bypass, Silicone ADBV, evenly spaced holes and steel coil spring, solid canister casing. It would be interesting comparison how they have changed. Now Purolator is better than those. I currently use Motorcraft although I know they use a leaf spring and the Purolator is a decent design, the Boss is nice and it shows filter media is better than Motorcraft. Not a fan of dome end bypass. Many new oil filters displayed in videos don't even come close to what RP and Napa Wix used to be years ago. The new ACDelco E core is an embarrassment. Why do these companies think they can change a proven design and still have a loyal following for a cheaper product. They must think customers don't notice. I expected K and N to be higher quality, the dome end bypass design is cheap and does not look built with durability.
Just came home from O'Reilly with a WIX air filter for my CTSV. $37.79 and MADE IN CHINA ! ! Either no more WIX or I'll get something cheaper off eBay next time.
wix used to be a great brand. Guaranteed, all these folks have moved on. since MANN HUMMEL took over the wix brand, their product lineup now matches purolator, motor craft, mopar, carquest, and others. They put the cheapest media in their baseline oil filters. you may as well buy a purolator classic, or stick to oem. just not worth the money anymore when you can purchase an identical product with a different label slapped on it for a lower price.
I once bought wix filters every time. However, it seems they now want to be a web design company. If the company wants to work in two different industries, at least come up with different names. No more Wix products here.
This video is useless. It provides no useful information about WIX filters and how they perform. There is no performance data or comparisons. Just a brief statement about meeting or exceeding manufacturers OEM specifications. But, which specifications? This all baloney, pure propaganda. Don't treat me like an idiot. I resent being treated like an idiot.

I just learned this. I bought Wix before I knew this, now Wix no more. They don't care about American jobs, so I don't care about them. Jobs start here, so maybe Purolator now.

How does Fram Ultra Synthetic filter compare with WIX. I have a Toyota cartridge type filter so I'm only interested in the elements being compared.

Ok so what I buy here in the USA from the auto parts store the Wix filter is made here in the USA??????
@@62ejo I guess it depends on the model. I recently bought a 51622 at O’Reillys and it is US made.

If It’s Not WIX You’re Gonna Get Ticks In You’re Engine . WIX Is 100 % High Quality.

Thank you tomn
