Two thoughts: 1) Darwin Barlowe proved that he deserved more touches every time he touched the ball. He was patient longer than most and I wish him the best. 2) If SC picked up Dillon Gabriel it would just be trolling at that point.

People that are shocked Riley bringing in transfer QB just don’t follow college football. Riley almost always brings in a ready starter from the portal whether it’s been Mayfield, Murray, Hurts or bringing Caleb Williams to SC. He makes alot of other mistakes but no one finds QB’s for their system the way he does. That said, I’d like to prioritize some defensive players and give them the same attention and fly out to go see them.
Basically Riley CANNOT Develop players.
Nolan is a must get. He’s got 3 years of eligibility just like Bear did when he came. Bear and Nolan can be the starting 2 DTs in Lynn’s 4-2-5!
We need 2 Big boys, on both sides in my Untrained opinion.

Agree with you that this is my favorite time of year. Hope is once again instilled in me. Same as last year until we gave up 28 points to San Jose State in the first game, and my faith immediately began to waiver.
Big bodies for the D-line should be the priority! That is what is needed for the new defensive scheme and B1G opponents who will all field monsters on the line of scrimmage. Fight on ✌🏽
In 2024, there is a lot of reason to be optimistic about the defense in addition to the offense. Fingers crossed that Lynn can get the job done. He certainly did at UCLA, and in a very short time, having come in so late in the spring (February). This time USC already has him and he has been on the recruiting trail starting this week. With such a head start vs. the late start he had last year at UCLA I would say that Lynn’s prospects for a quick defensive turnaround at USC are very good!
How about LRiley focusing on securing a TOP 10 Recruiting class in his 3rd year and developing players instead of relying on the portal. 🤔

RB, OL, and DL/LB … you touched on some great options. Florida had two big boy DTs (320+), tOSU RB entered too, too many to mention and I know all this changed after you recorded this

I'm not too big a fan of the transfer postal. You saw all the new talent USC brought in last year and how they didn't seemed to rise to the occasion against notre dame or ucla. The new group knew nothing of the rivalry between the schools and it showed on the field.

Under Lynn, Bear Alexander will be a monster. Lynn is going to get guys who are going to make that D-line a unit to fear. And not only get, but develop too.
The best part about Caleb sitting for the bowl game is that we can actually see how Moss and Nelson perform. Wven if USC loses, im more interested in performance out of those two QBs. This season is shot and so I'm more interested for next year and how things will go.

Those Howard numbers that you ran off don’t convince me that he will be an automatic starter over the likes of Moss. If Moss doesn’t leave because he feels like he won’t get a fair shake as the only Helton holdover, I think that he will seriously challenge for the starting role.
I’ll do a more in depth video on Will in the future. He’s a QB you really need to watch. That offense at KSU is anything but QB friendly

Love Trojan Blade, BUT .... as an older guy the still photo backgrounds with the horizontal static lines running back and forth drive my eyes crazy!!!! I have to look away. And besides that's how our TVs used look years ago. It is not a great choice for retro, as we were all glad to get clear pictures on the tube and get rid of those lines.

USC should also look at Taylen Green from Boise State Green has thrown for 3,794 yds, 25 TDS, 15 INT, he’s rushed 1,024 yds, 19 TDS!
As much as i love these transfers, it just shows how little Lincant Riley & staff develops talents. Developing talent at both OU & now USC has always been a struggle for he & his staff. Not a recipe for long term success. I dont expect Lincant will last past nxt season, yes even with new DC D’Anton Lynn. I like this hire, the culture (physicality, accountability, discipline, playing the best, developing talent, keeping players focused, etc) all starts with the hear coach.
OL, OL, OL. Those are our top 3 priorities in the transfer portal. Sad to lose Raleek and Barlow because I think they both have shown amazing potential.

Did u listen to Lincoln’s press conference today? He said part of the reason he hired Lynn is because he was willing to accept the non-negotiables of Lincoln’s philosophy on defensive front, mentioning specifically size.
Which can be interpreted as he wants to continue to recruit those 275 lb defensive lineman because Lincoln who knows nothin about defense, values speed over size, toughness and strength.
And he said Lynn agreed to accept that. So we are in BIG trouble again, as long as LR is our coach we will remain the same soft team and those are just the facts

I don't trust Lincoln Riley. This most recent year the offensive players progressively got worse throughout the season. He doesn't develop players. I just can't defend him anymore.
Moss or Nelson should be starting next year. They aren't ready because Riley doesn't play them. There were many times this past season they should've played but didn't. How can a player gain experience if he is never played? I can see Nelson entering the portal next year if he isn't played this year.
Riley relies on the transfer portal too much. The lack of cohesion is a big problem with this team. If Riley wants to compete, recruiting is the best path to it.
Building through recruiting is the way to go but teams can do it through the portal to. You have to use both. FSU just went 13-0 because of the portal and we had success last year doing the same.
@@fayjohnson4068 I agree about using the portal to fill certain places if need be, but it shouldn't be the go to method to build a team, except maybe the players who are freshmen or sophomores.
FSU got around 12 portal players last year. Overall, that isn't very much considering how many players there are on a team. So, the vast majority of players were recruits. (Keep in mind that I don't know how many of those players dressed.)
Remember, Colorado brought in 51 players from the portal and flopped. I've noticed that the best teams in the country use the portal the least. They bring in a few players to fill in the gaps, but then rely on the recruiting to fill the team.
Who knows? Maybe I'm just old school?.

These are the exact same things you said about guys who transferred in last year(Mason Cobb) and looked like completely different players in the worst way. Nothing you have said about players or new coaches changes the fact that Riley is cotton soft and his teams will always be soft as well.

The thing about trusting Lincoln is that he is trustworthy with qb’s that’s why there’s NO WAY Nelson/Miller aren’t enough. The problem is his game plan and play calling. Lloyd is going to be the first RB taken in the draft and he had less than 10 carries a game. One way to help your defense when it’s struggling a to run the ball and run time off the clock. But our video game OC masquerading as a head coach doesn’t seem to understand. So even with this guy it’s still going to be a mismanaged offense.
Everyone of SC's portal pick ups on defense SUCKED. Hope its better this year.

He’s only been a big time coach for 8 years now, head coach for 4, and has created 4 top tier quarterbacks, idk who’s done better in that kind of span

Why are you covering this? Mostly, transfers are mercenaries here to showcase.
Translation, they are guaranteed playing time, which destroys any sense of positional competitiveness.
Regardless of effort, hard work, attitude or excellence displayed on the practice field, non transfers know their playing time has a low ceiling.
These transfers have no interest in our university, its culture and tradition; they will never be Trojans or know what it means to be a Trojan.
Riley needs to obtain players through recruiting exclusively. Players who’ve dreamed of wearing the Cardinal and Gold.
The last thing we need are players prostituting their talent.
Riley needs to get with The Program or get out.
We as fans need to stop celebrating non Trojan mercenaries rolling into the program each season.
the team is in a win now scenario, the playoff and national championship usc window is still open next season and I’m not saying I don’t agree with you but the demand is USC needs to be in the playoffs in the next season or 2 and that’ll take too long to develop high school players so Lincoln Riley has to do what he has to do to win now

I do not like this move the offense is not the focus the defense is ... we can get by with comer bile as QB - develop Malachai nelson the number one qb in the nation if not he is going to leave. we are so fixated on porta busts - those guys did not show up all year. Mohammad takes off on weak teams yet is silenced by Oregon, uw and Utah.. so again, ill-advised moves.
