Congrats with your new bike! And welcome to the EMTB club. You will have loads of fun! I got the Giant Trance X E+1 from 2022 and have driven it for 2000 km this year. I got surgery on my hands so I can’t ride the bike for 3 months and it is frustrating me a lot. Can’t wait to ride again.
Thanks! I have really enjoyed this bike so far. Since I review so many ebikes, I haven't been able to ride it as much as I want but I plan on riding it much more in 2024. I hope your hands heal up in time for riding season. Thanks for watching!
I bought the same bike but last years model a month ago. An upgrade from a standard Trance 2 and also my first ebike. What a massive difference, especially hill climbing. It just adds to the fun. Great to see another rider enjoying it👍
Congrats on the bike and welcome to mountain biking! A word of caution though; the power of that bike can far exceed your abilities and using that power is addicting. Before mountain bikes I rode dirt bikes and eventually wound up with a KTM 500 which was so intoxicating but it nearly killed me. 4 surgeries, 18 pins and rods later I finally could walk and function again. Don’t get cocky, let your guard down or ride beyond your abilities. They will come. I ride the new lighter weight version of your bike and love it. I no longer need a dirt bike as I realized I get just as much adrenaline pumping, and certainly more exercise riding my Trance e Elite, plus I don’t have to have a trailer and have many more riding opportunities close to home. Enjoy that bike; it’s a really great bike!
Thanks for advice. All of this is a learning experience for me. I am taking it slow but I am also trying things that absolutely make my butthole pucker. hahahaha. This is how we get better right? Will be posting my latest Giant Trance video soon.
Sound advice. I'm in the process of switching from a KTM 300 2T to an emtb and trying to figure out which one to buy. I am a huge believer in respecting the throttle. I'm looking at this bike as well as Husqvarna and GASGAS EMTBs. All seem to be around 50 lbs. I can't afford more for lightness though (this bike is $6K in Canada). PS Scott, I love your monologue, I feel like I'm there experiencing it with you. Well done.
I collected my 2023 Giant Trance X E+3 (same color as yours) yesterday. Paid $3,351 for it, brand new out of the box. This will be replacing my 2020 Trek Powerfly FS 5.
You got a steal! The prices have really dropped. I bought mine the first day it was available and paid full price. Even at full price, I don't regret the purchase at all! Enjoy that beast!
Good looking bike. It’s easy to see it’s a high quality bike that’s built for it’s purpose. I’m not sure how I’d handle that kind of riding as the beaten-up, old guy I am. It does look like a lot of fun though. Most of my riding has been on roads and easy trails so the Adventure has worked well for me. But I have been thinking about getting an additional bike. My son has a Specialized Turbo Creo SL Comp Carbon Evo he uses for road and gravel riding. And he recently bought a Turbo Levo SL Comp for more hardcore trail riding. I’ve spent a few hours street riding on both bikes and like both of them. I’d like to attempt to do a more challenging ride on the Levo just to see how I’d hold up to that kind of riding. He seems to think the Levo 5.0 would be a good choice for me but that Giant looks pretty sweet too. But then again, can these old bones handle it? I can picture myself running into plenty of tree and having more than my share of get offs too. lol
I'm an old guy too, 68. 3 hip replacements. It doesn't matter how fast you can go, it's more about what you can manage and as Scott says, take it slow at first. I used to be fast on a dirt bike, but I became more cautious as I aged and still have as much fun. Will be making the switch to an e bike tho.
Hi Scott, loved this review. I have been riding a specialized hard tail turbo terro 4 but I often wonder about the benefits of dual suspension. I don't do hard core trails at 65 years of age but I do like to be more protected on rutted gravel roads or on sealed roads at speed where potholes catch you out.
I watched the video from when you were in Europe. I knew you were in trouble as soon as I saw that. No comparison between something like this, and the typical E bikes that are being sold quite a lot right now. That was when I subscribed and started following. Not that one is bad and one is good, but they are two different ball games. I kind of thought just from watching the few videos that I had seen from you, that you were gonna partake in both games. L O L congrats. Also appears like you got some really nice technical trails there.
You knew it was coming. There are about 50 different trails all within 2hrs from me. I am going to see how many I can hit this year. This bike is blast, when I don't get thrown from it of course.
This is awesome! I almost pulled the trigger on this exact bike. I have a similar non-electric enduro bike though and I may try a mid-drive conversion kit on it first.
There have been times when I have stopped to take a break, then starting riding again forgetting that the bike was off. It is possible and isn't that bad at all. Sometimes I don't realize I don't have it on, until I hit a hill, then I know it's not on... hahaha
Funny thing is, I originally purchased thicker grips for it and saw these while looking around and purchased them. I will keep that in mind if my other thicker grips are not thick enough. Thanks for the info!
How do you personally bounce back after a crash? Took a wipeout on my aventure last winter after hitting some thick ice and ever since it's almost like I don't trust the bike to lean or turn as much as I know it can. Curios how after your crash you were able to just jump right back in and keep pushing yourself like that. Awesome bike and trails btw!
I spent 26 years in the Army. Some of those years I spent as an Army Ranger. During that time I learned to bounce back quickly and not be afraid of things. You just have to get back up and face your fear. Now when things like this happen to me, I learn from it and then go back to enjoying the ride. You can do it!
For the challenge and excitement? Most mountain biking single track riding is about that. Smooth, paved paths are also a lot of fun and there's nothing wrong with choosing either.
@@brucejones5258 I think its more about me learning how to ride this bike. We also shortened my handlebars and that seems to have helped. Thanks for watching!

Awesome mate, looking at getting this exact bike tomorrow, gonna be my 1st ebike aswell, this has sold it to me
You will love it!
Thanks for sharing. I’m pumped to get riding again. I’m getting older and a little overweight. I need the assistance.
I feel you man. Thanks for watching!

Hey Scott, really enjoyed the video and review from up here in Canada. Looking at a Light Giant EMTB too. Keep up the great work and thank you!
Awesome, thank you!

I hope to still be riding at age 65. That's awesome man. Thanks for watching!

I am extremely happy with this purchase. For my first emtb, I believe I made a great choice.
The bike did look smooth as you stated, now about the driver.....
The driver is totally sketch. He is not near as smooth as the bike.
How well does this bike ride with the motor off? Would you be able to ride trails still or is it too heavy for that?

Pretty nice how you had those trails to yourself.
I go during the week so they are pretty clear.
Get some pnw loam xl grips, they are good! Decent ride there.

which size do you have of this bike ? And how is your size ?
iam 1,79m and think about M or L of this bike.
I am 5' 9" and I have a size Medium. Fits me perfectly.
BTY, I know exactly what you were thinking when you slowed way down to look at that jump
hahahaha
I bought a 75 n.m. stance . how much more power does the 85 n.m. trance feel? Is it hug
I wouldn't know unless I try the 75Nm one. But I can tell you, I love this bike.
It's not a huge difference.
You sound like me. Take the hard trail 😂😂😂
hahaha... lets roll!
Good God that's a beaut!
It is. Let's see how long I can it that way.
👏👏✌️
👍
You gotta hit those skinnies next time!
I totally forgot about those until I saw them while I was editing this video. I will get them next time. #babysteps
To learn MTB riding, ya purchased a $5k bicycle. Why don't we believe that.
Why would you not believe it? I wanted to pick an emtb that would last me years without me having to upgrade parts. Seems pretty realistic to me.
Can someone explain why you would ride with trees that close to the path. That just seems plain stupid.
It’s just the way it is. Talked to the guys at the bike shop and it my handlebars are 20mm to long so we are going to shorten them.
For the challenge and excitement? Most mountain biking single track riding is about that. Smooth, paved paths are also a lot of fun and there's nothing wrong with choosing either.
@@scotthardesty Can you get hand guards like on dirt bikes?
