Hey Ben, Music Trivia Guy here. I've been to the poker room in New Orleans that you mentioned. It's at the Harrah's in New Orleans, and most every time I played there, I've won. There is a lot of action at these tables. I think you'd do well too.
Why not sit out bomb pot instead of complain every session? My game when occasionally they play Omaha every dealer change, I sit out the hand.
I do that all time! A bomb pot is NOT NLH game. And never will be. It's just like you cut one wing from a bird and ask it to fly?!
I believe that game was invented to FORCE everyone to pout money in the pot. That is 96% luck and 4% skills.

In the K8dd hand he got you to fall for the “bet small to induce a spazz raise” play.
You played K8 fine. Standard call on the flop. Could go either way calling or folding turn. You showed a lot of heart raising on the river. A good amount of the time, that play is going to work, so keep it in your arsenal.

K8 hand was a polarized river lead by him that made me think “blocker bet & weak OR pure value once the front door flush hits”
The over thinking is killing you. Use your gut it’s tuned into the game.
A nit is if you are the biggest long term winner in the game and you don't tip, try to avoid playing every bomb pot and refuse to straddle. See these types of players and they are very short sighted, not realising that what's good for the game is also good for them.
"boredom breaks bankrolls" was an inaccurate saying that I've learned has a kernal of truth to it... Similarly, purely chasing an hourly isn't ideal....
I flopped the same straight flush with the same hand suit and everything ... my opponent flopped a set and rivered a boat i stacked him

@bendeach - Just a curiosity question but in the hand where you flopped a J high straight flush, if you had reraised the $40 flop bet to like $120 or $130, do you think you would have gotten called? By both? Onje? I ask because of your many strengths in your Peppermill "home game" seems to be that you know your opponents and the players at the Mill

K8d mistake...been there, done that! It derives not from calling pre flop raise, but from *putting opponent on a particular hand* (AK) when reading. Been there, done that, too.
9:40 I disagree with river bet _sign of weakness_ . The reason is: bet size!! Weak hand (after being called on all streets) would rather bet large (simply: Bluff!) or just give it up (check river). So, after he bets 25% of the pot, I'd just folded without looking back. He has either stronger K or even a monster hand. And moreover: wouldn't it be strange to the V my river raise?? When comes to that, and they have a great bluff catcher, they'd never fold. So bluffing river was only a mistake in this hand, the way I see it.

First hand misplayed on every street. Wrong raise size, wrong c-bet on the flop, wrong bet size on the turn. Pre 3bet size between 110 - 140, on the flop 25-33% or polarized 100-125% but nothing in between.

Bomb pot idea, make the largest bet on the turn be 50 and largest bet on river be 100. That way those who want to gamble can do so and see all 5 cards and the max anyone loses is 175. That keeps anyone from going broke but you still have the fun of the bomb pot.
