Good tips. I was really surprised about the locks.i have found the AirTags very useful. I also take a picture of my bags before each trip. This is really handy when a piece of luggage goes astray.
Thanks, Swinn! I think you've covered pretty much everything. I use an Apple Airtag and TSA locks. The good thing about the built-in TSA locks, is that the zippers are locked down, so if someone does use a pen to get into your suitcase, they can't move the zippers to fix them to make it look like nothing happened. If you don't have built-in TSA locks, you can accomplish the same thing with a cable lock or tight zip ties looped through the zippers and the handle (so the zipper can't travel far from the handle). Or, spend a lot of money and get zipper-less suitcases with latches that lock - like suitcases used to have (something old that's new again LOL). Happy travels!
Thank you Swinn, that was brilliant, such a lot of good thoughts and suggestions and really well put together. Personally hadn`t come across the vulnerability of the pen through the zip. Looking forward to a later update. 🤪
It's almost always possible to fix a plastic zipper. Sometimes it just takes running the fastener carefully and slowly over the problem area. I recently fixed a tent zipper by using a small awl to persuade the teeth into the proper place.
TSA locks have 2 key numbers 002/007, but my new suitcase has a TSA style lock but no key hole so have to make sure I remember my code, there are videos on you tube showing how to get into a TSA lock without a key, as for wrapping my luggage I use kitchen wrap and making sure that I haven't put anything in for the journey wrap it at home and put the remaining roll into my carry on luggage for the return or subsequent onward flights.
Mmm... Tbh, I'm not really worried about ppl stealing from my suitcase. There's no valuables in there, and the clothes I take are over 5 years old. The suitcase itself is at least 10 years old. Yes, it would be annoying and inconvenient if it was lost/ stolen on the way TO my destination, but not so much on the way home, as it would be full of dirty clothes. Nevertheless, some of these tips are quite useful 👍🏾
Sounds like your suitcase is on a journey of its own-old clothes and all! At least if it gets lost, it’ll have a great story to tell. 😉Thanks for watching!
@@Sabby899-qp1dw Over the last few years I have had my bag searched by TSA twice. Each time they left inside and on top, a form note that the luggage had been searched and nothing was disturbed or removed, and thanked me for understanding their job of security. Frankly, after some thought, I was happy they did it, to help find bad people’s bags. Just recently I saw on television where an airport checked bad was searched and illegal animals were being brought into America to be sold to collectors. GOOD JOB TSA!
I now always travel with AirTags in my luggage. We were taking off and I used my phone to check the AirTags and saw that my luggage was back at the airport and off we went; without them. So when I landed I went to the luggage security and they found my luggage still back in the last airport. They delivered it the next day, but annoyingly I had to call the airport and tell them my bad had arrived at their airport, and to please deliver it. So DO USE APPLE AIRTAGS inside your luggage.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's always great to hear how things like AirTags can help travelers. Your story reinforces the importance of keeping track of our belongings!

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I take a picture too! But forgot to put it in the video.

Thank you for your nice comments 👍 Tony
Good video. You had some useful tips. The test with the pen was shocking to see how easy it is to bust a zipper. Great work! ❤
I'm glad you found the tips useful! The zipper test really does show how fragile they can be. Thanks for watching!

Yes, zippers can be a pain. I always have trouble with a favourite winter coat of mine

Love your approach! Kitchen wrap is a solid hack for luggage. Just remember, if you forget the code, you might have to channel your inner locksmith!
@@Swinn-FG I won't forget my code it's the first part of my army number and no one ever forgets their army number.
It’s worth having the AirTag just to know that my bag is on the plane and not left behind. I enjoy the fight so much more knowing that!
Totally! It’s a game changer, right? No more stressing about your bag; just kick back and enjoy the flight!
Apple airtags. Mine was removed by security when I traveled UK to China as NO lithium device is allowed in Checked In bags.
Wow! That sounds really annoying. Thanks for sharing
I Use a Anti theft Bag with Rfid blocking
Sweet! Those bags are a game changer. You've got to keep the thieves on their toes
Maybe don't own anything expensive like me. I try to own only cheap stuff.
Totally get you! Cheap stuff can be way more fun anyway-more room for spontaneous adventures!
Same 😊

All suitcases are vulnerable to be opened, next time just bring a welded aluminum box
You're absolutely right! It's always good to think outside the box when it comes to keeping our belongings safe in a box.
Air Tags only work with Apple phones. There is nothing comparable for Android.
There was an article I read of them getting togther on this. Thanks for sharing
@@Swinn-FG All talk....No action. I got Tile for my Android, but they only work within the 300 foot range of Bluetooth. Rather useless for luggage.
Tsa do not unlock your tsa bag. They always rip it open!!! They are not respectful of your property.
It’s like they have a personal vendetta against our luggage! I hope it won't put you off travelling
