Data: Information processed or stored by a computer system Database: A systematic collection of data. An electronic system that allows data to be easily accessed, manipulated and updated Data warehouse: A structure place to store data designed to optimise for various functions. It is a relational database designed for query and analysis A data warehouse is a type of database but designed for optimised analysis. Data mart: Is a subset of a data warehouse meaning it focuses on one task. Purpose is to isolate and partition a smaller set of data from a data warehouse so there is easier access for the end user. Data mining: The process of analysing hidden patterns of data according to different point of views for categorisation into useful information. Collected in data warehouses for efficient analysis. It allows us to analyse trends in data usually for commerce related reasons. There is so much data that they are needed for organisation and finding trends. EXTRACT - STORE - PROVIDE - PRESENT A data warehouse extracts data and data mining takes this data and uses it for finding trends
Take an example of a shopping mart. People buy products there, data gets stored in the system of the mart. They would analyse this data to do stuff like predict their sales, know what product is the most popular, know the trends, etc. This process of extracting data and making patterns to derive a conclusion is data mining.
@@SiddharthGargYT A nice, simplistic example. This kind of information (or data) helps the SuperDuperMart powers that be to gather strategic understanding of everything from what products to stock on the shelves, how mush shelf space should be allocated, what level of the shelf it should be placed on, how much to order and when... all this boils down to MAXIMIZED PROFIT in an information economy.
This is a very nice video and useful information regarding data mining, the most challenging thing is actually applying it to organizational decision making process,,, it is indeed a lot of work to actually successfully data mine. I must confess that building the database is really easy and straight forward but data mining is wow, hard work.
From my understanding you pull data from tables that give you the info you are looking for. Need to know what is your most popular selling item? Pull the sales tables and see which item has the most transactions. Had a hard time understanding this because my work has its own database for dummies where you just have to fill in lines with what you want. A data miner would know what queries to write to pull the data without such a system in place.

How can I turn data mining into a business?
Thank you it was helpful 👍
Very helpful
Thanks, I watched the whole video and still had no clue what data mining actually was. After reading your comment I now get the general idea.
I thought I was dumb when I didn’t know what data mining was. Now I feel even dumber that I still don’t know what it means.

@@SiddharthGargYT but why is that bad tho?
Fuzzer 0804 Because is much broader that that .When they use it for other purposes like
Social Security number etc etc.

Siddharth Garg thanks
I like this man. He sounds like a teacher I've always wanted to have.
Teacher I want but can't have. Same life story, lol.
Prof. Kudyba is one of the best professor in NJIT. I have learnt many techniques in data mining from him.
soo what are good data mining projects for major project ??
hows it going for you given a year has passed?
He speaks and sounds very smart.
The way he present is much exciting, great video
Love Professor K! Very simple to understand and very knowledgeable.
looks like this video was made in the 90's
@Elijah Compton He’s describing the appearance of the video, not the date it was made. Learn some English buddy.
But releavent to current time too.
In the 90's my friend

Great introduction video on Data Mining! The concept and its application was well articulated.
Quality info and a good watch
A good definition of data mining. Thank you !
Great explanation with simple words!
This is bigger then ever now
What is the difference between Data Mining, hacking, and sharing of private information

Nice Introduction for Data Mining. Please Upload Other Videos for same topic in detail. If Possible.
Thank You.
Haha no body liked your comment after 7 years
Data mining is taking the supermassive amounts of data of any kind and utilizing mathematical methods in order to identify trends.
People are a resource.
Very helpful sir. Keep going👍👍
Muy bien explicado...
thanks for explanation
Artificial intelligence is soon going to replace data mining
it became sub-branch of AI
I'm not strong in math can I still do data mining
nodes that connect in and for all sectors
----
thank you sir for this informational video
What database software do you recommend for large scale production?
Noah Burke SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, SAP ERP, etc...
Will data mining be automated in the no too distant future? Is the industry due for disruption?
Interesting
this guy knew all this in 2010
he was right
very good video
What about use for education, and even employment, education direct to the desktop and compile your Ph.D. as you go.
Im so glad life is temporary
good, ANU students here~
COMP8410 gang
So basically this video is about how data mining is important not what it is -_-
This video is about nothing useful. Not what data mining is, not why is it important, not how it's used. Nada
So data mining is marketing
I saw data mining work. I wonder how it is work.
thank you
Thank you!
Share you for sharing. Good explanation.
Wish I could have watched this in 2010
Why’s that
Yeah why?
Thanks
Does this require heavy mathematics ?
Could anyone suggest a reputable certification in data mining
Yes
this is just epic
Basically a fancy way to say data analysis
Whaat linked is popular 11 years ago! ?
thanks very very ok
Yes i don't understand data mining..
2021 looking for Data mining meaning
Builds up to explain but doesn't explain...
🤔 ok so what is Data mining in English ?
You either must be ignorant or very young if you don't understand the terminology he's using
Capitalism at it finest. Cryptocurrency is the future, mark my words.
Thank you!
