I love this kind of content, and as a big fan of the original Dead Rising it's great to see someone equally as passionate refresh my memory on how hard the series took a nosedive. As someone who considers RE4 to be one of the best games of all time, Chop Till You Drop is a very interesting mess. I've never played it personally so some of what you said in the review was new to me and pretty surprising. I wouldn't take that interview with Nakai seriously though. I think it's pretty clear that he's just trying to fluff up the Wii version to get people excited. Capcom probably told him to not say that mechanics were altered so that the "porting" process would be easier/cheaper, but to instead spin it as something that would improve the game. The Wii's audience had a lot of casual players and while most of them didn't play titles like Dead Rising, Capcom obviously was hoping they could appeal to them so saying the changes were to make the game easier for casual players is just PR bullshit. Some of the Odd Jobs look like they'd be a complete pain in the ass to complete. Adam was the toughest boss in the 360 ver so I can't imagine multiple of him at once with the more restrictive controls of the Wii ver.
I'm with ya on RE4. CTYD is also a good example of how a game should be judged more than the sum of its parts. There's so much of RE4 in it, but what works with one type of game won't with another.
@braxtondavis393 lol it's not a terrible feature, it may not match the theme. But changing blood colors or getting rid of blood altogether has been around in video games. Not many do it, but I feel like I remember at least 1 other game that let's you change blood color

5:13 Ahh the old era of gaming when developers for some reason thoughts gamers were too stupid to understand that "X = attack" and somehow thought that "Waving your arms in twist motion while holding the L button = Attack" was much more simple and comprehensible.

I actually completely forgot how bad this game was holy shit. luckily i was able to play the second one when it came out. ive also picked up off the record since i havent played dead rising 2 in over 5 years. Been enjoying that quite a lot.
So as a kid who didn't have an Xbox, I got this game because I desperately wanted to play dead rising. I honestly loved it for what it was and the fact that I was able to run around and kill zombies. Yea it's pretty bad comparatively, but fun to look back on lol
I dont even think its really that bad today. The only thing i didnt like gameplay wise was how guns were handled, but other then that i liked it. People say the story was silly, but its pretty clear that was the goal. It was a parody/Nod to the cheesy/corny zombie films of the 90's and early 2000's.
This is actually the version I played when I was growing up, and I never knew what I was missing from the 360. Real shame I never got to experience the original as a kid.
Zombie Kent dropping molotovs almost makes me think that Paul MAY have been originally be turned into a zombie version that throws molotovs at you, but was probably cut because Kent already threw grenades... or they just cut him altogether to keep saving up precious memory, which seems more like a limitation of the engine itself and not the Wii hardware (look at games like No More Heroes and Madworld that really shows what the Wii can do)

i actually just beat one of the two playthoughs im doing on the PC port pf dead rising 1 (one to level and get my bearings bacc and the other for the story) and the convicts only respawned once for some reason and that was all i was genuinely suprised because i remembered from your video that they respawned each day but also they only mess with you if they see you so sticcing to the edges made them not mess with me and i only killed them day 1 to save sophie or whatever her name was and on my ps4 playthough bacc in 2016 they only spawned day 1 (Not sure why) and i dont remember enough about my first playthough on the 360 cause i was like between 6 and 8 when i first played when the game came out Also I am keeping all my comments seprate to boost engagement on the video and i will be doing it with the rest of the videos i watch because i genuinely believe your channel deserves more attention then it has and has gotten

I remember as a kid not knowing the difference between Xbox games and ports, I was thrilled to finally play Dead Rising on the Wii, I was blown away that there were zombie animals but I remember feeling a giant pit of sadness knowing that I couldn't take silly pictures, I was confused and genuinely wondered if I needed film for the camera or something. I went over to the gun shop almost immediately and was wildly confused on why the gun store was an actually shop? I remember being so mad as a kid
Hmmmm. I think the reason the zombies are like that is the RE 4 coding. Much like how Frank is basically Leon here, the zombies are the ganados. Who had more aggressive AI and could sprint. This game just removes the zombies having weapons though.
I do mention that though, the RE4 enemies are slower than the zombies in Chop till you Drop somehow. I would have understood if that weren't the case, since it is just RE4, but it definitely feels like they sped them up on purpose, and I think I quote the director or something in the video about them making that decision, right?

I almost can't see any of the changes as "improvements" since it's just them making it more like RE4 because they likely had to. I think the game is worse, but many of the changes I dislike I also have a hard time seeing as "creative changes" since, well, they had the RE4 Wii engine and a budget/deadline, you know?

Im pretty sure zombie Clif is a nerfed super salvador from RE4 Mercenaries mode. The way he charges and suddenly stops when he hits you is basically the exact same. Good thing Clif cant decapitate Frank.
This was my first Dead Rising game. I never noticed the similarities it had with RE4 at the time since I had beat that game a couple years prior and forgot about it for a while. The Wii came out and I played the shit out of House of the Dead and Smash Bros. I loved this game but at some point when night time hit it was pitch black so I had to lead some survivors through the dark by using the guide arrow and hoping they didn't get grappled. I probably won't play this version ever again though since I have the pc port

im sorry hearing them call the dead rising controls complex and for hardcore gamers is baffling theyre as straight forward as controls come the dead rising wiki is a treat you get the most random information about psychopaths that has nothing to do with anything

You're just not good at this game. You really thought the combat during boss fights was bad, but you make a game journalist look like an esports pro like HungryBox. I was 14 when this game came out and I demolished it and had a blast. This version actually lets you counter the bosses which no other DR ever allows. The short time frame to press the button is meant to reward skillful play too lol. You also couldn't tell that the Wiimote going up was meant to symbolize thrusting it ya know up? This game is practically for babies and you struggled to beat it, lol.
That said you have valid criticisms, but this game isn't for DR fans, as someone who always liked RE more this game felt right at home. I only played the xbox version after I beat this version and I can see the good in both. I wish we could just combine the two for a more definitive experience. I know people hate quick time events but when done properly like in MGS Revengeance, RE4, and yes even this game it can be really satisfying. Anyone who played the xbox version first will always prefer it since it has more. I will always prefer the combat of the Wii version mostly in regard to bosses. The xbox version's bosses require grinding experience instead of skillful play or else you're gonna be in a shootout or run and hide while playing whack a mole on a boss after he stun locks you since they almost all move considerably faster. Did I forget to mention you can't counter either in the original xbox version?
As someone who grew up with this version of the game I can say this is one the worst games I've played. I stopped playing after finding the survivors in the gun store because it made no sense how to progress.
This version on Wii made the game real corny. "Dead Rising" series wasn't made for VR experience. This looks to me to be a "Resident Evil" template with console version story & game play..... ultimately, this version isn't a hit but a terrible miss..... 🌛⭐🌞🌛🌞⭐🌛🌞⭐

The short time frame to press the button is meant to reward skillful play too lol. You also couldn't tell that the Wiimote going up was meant to symbolize thrusting it ya know up? This game is practically for babies and you struggled to beat it, lol.
That said you have valid criticisms, but this game isn't for DR fans, as someone who always liked RE more this game felt right at home. I only played the xbox version after I beat this version and I can see the good in both. I wish we could just combine the two for a more definitive experience. I know people hate quick time events but when done properly like in MGS Revengeance, RE4, and yes even this game it can be really satisfying. Anyone who played the xbox version first will always prefer it since it has more. I will always prefer the combat of the Wii version mostly in regard to bosses. The xbox version's bosses require grinding experience instead of skillful play or else you're gonna be in a shootout or run and hide while playing whack a mole on a boss after he stun locks you since they almost all move considerably faster. Did I forget to mention you can't counter either in the original xbox version?
Is this for the WII? The graphics looks crazy I played it on my PS3 & 4 nothing like the WII. The WII is way better.
This version of dead rising feels like a dream i would have after playing dead rising for too long
As someone who grew up with this version of the game I can say this is one the worst games I've played. I stopped playing after finding the survivors in the gun store because it made no sense how to progress.
This game is just a beautiful disaster. I refuse to beat it but demakes are always fascinating to me nonetheless
This version on Wii made the game real corny. "Dead Rising" series wasn't made for VR experience. This looks to me to be a "Resident Evil" template with console version story & game play..... ultimately, this version isn't a hit but a terrible miss.....
