Happy International Women's Day

I’m not one to hone in on these “official” declarations that tell us to celebrate something that we should honestly be heralding every day, all day: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Black History Month, International Women’s Day. No one asked me but these annual “acknowledgements” should be repositioned into conscious, daily, transformative acts of homage as common as the air we breath. I think it dangerous to focus too closely on jamming into one day (or month) whatever ‘kudos’ we should actually be doling out liberally, and with consistency, throughout whatever calendar you happen to follow. BUT! Since I’m a woman, a mom AND black, I thought I could do a "3 in 1 special" and share this interview and song with you. I am interviewed by the wonderful Pastor Peter Holmes of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto and sing the traditional spiritual, Over My Head. I hope it encourages you.
