In this Pokemon cake decorating tutorial I show you how to make a pikachu model, idea to use as a little cake topper or a cupcake topper. I use modelling paste / gumpaste to make my pikachu cake topper but you could also make your pikachu figure from fimo or polymer clay if you do not want yours to be edible.
Pikachu is a well known character from Pokemon, let me know if you enjoyed this video as I could also make other Pokemon models in the future :)

Zoe, I know this video is 5 years old, but I wanted to say thank you. I am a very amateur cake decorator, mostly only for my own children, but I was asked to make a Pokemon cake for a friend's son and your tutorial is so detailed and easy to follow. I was able to follow along and even pause to freeze exactly what you were doing. My Pikachu is fatter than yours, but I think he's going to look adorable sitting on the cakeboard in front of the cake. Thank you.

Totally adorable and looks just like him. :) My son was big into Pikachu when he was little. Have several stuffed toy Pikachu's that are his around including one that talks. Now he has other favorites. :D

White This fondant, you don't need of tolouse?
Thank you! You can either use modelling paste / gum paste which sets harder then fondant. Or you can use fondant and add a bit of tylose powder :)

+FuzzyPuppy AJ Thanks for watching :) The Pikachu model I have made here is made from modelling paste / gum paste which is edible yes, I have tagged polymer clay in a lot of my videos though as you can make a lot of the models in exactly the same way with polymer clay, the obvious difference being that one wont be edible :)

Can fondant be used also? I really don't know what the difference is? I have a bunch of small containers of different color fondants to use for making the molds.
+Ashley Sherertz Hi Ashley, you might get away with using fondant for this Pikachu model yes, gum paste / modelling paste is similar but it sets harder so it's a little more secure, you can also get the same effect by adding a little tylose powder to your fondant. Thanks for watching!
